Lead-in (2 min) Show a map about France and ask Ss about some places of interest in France and introduce Eiffel Tower. 1.Look at the map and guess which country it is. 2.Answer T’s questions. Arouse Ss’ interest and introduce Eiffel Tower that will be talked about in the listening material.
Pre-listening ( 8 min) Guide Ss to make prediction before reading and explain some difficult words and phrases. Ask Ss to read the numbers in English: make prediction before reading listen to the T and take notes. Read the numbers on the PowerPoint in English. Enhance Ss’ ability of making prediction before listening. help Ss review how to read numbers in English and help them to move the barries of the pronounciation of numbers while listening,
While-listening ( 8 min) Play the recording twice and ask Ss to complete the task on page 20. Check the answers. Listen to the tape and fill the blanks on page 20. To enhance Ss’ listening ability of grasp specific information.
After-listening ( 12 min) Play the listening tape again and ask Ss to pay attention to the words that are difficult for them to pronounciate. Ask Ss to read the listening material by themselves. Ask Ss to introduce Eiffel Tower using the information provided on the PowerPoint: Listen to the tape and pay attention to the words that are difficult to pronounciate. Read the listening material by themselves. Answer the questions. Introduce the Eiffel Tower To provide Ss opportunity of opening their mouth and speak English. To help them better understand the details of the listening material.
Speaking (9 min) Task 1: In pairs, talk about your holiday plans. Task 2: Group work (Ask Ss to work in a group of three and make a presentation about their holiday plan. Listen to the T and take notes about how to ask questions. 2.Work in pairs and make the convesation about holiday plans. To help Ss understand how to ask questions and what kind of sentence patterns that they can use to ask questions about their partners’ holiday plans. 2.Provide Ss’ opportunity to enhance their spoken English
