When his daughter Morgan was growing up, Gordon Hartman was heartbroken after watching her on the playground. Other children refused to play with her, mostly because her disabilities meant she couldn’t access the places where they were playing. The family tried other places but were never satisfied.
“What we found was there was no place that was an easily-accessible, fully inclusive park,” Gordon said. So he went home and sold his construction business, bought a large piece of land, and went to work building an entire amusement park for disabled children.
All kids need playtime, and Morgan was no different. The park—named Morgan’s Wonderland—finally offered Morgan that opportunity. What the Hartmans discovered is that kids without disabilities enjoy the park just as much, and they interact a lot more with everyone when all are included. In fact, three quarters of the park’s visitors are not disabled. And that makes it all the more fun.
Watching the kids play together without barriers makes you realize that we are all the same, and having fun is for everybody. But it doesn’t end there. One-third of the staff also has special needs. Seeing the way they interact also puts a smile on your face. They take their jobs seriously, and they make sure everybody is having fun.
“It feels fantastic because we get to see people who are not given the opportunity to experience the types of rides we have, get on a carousel, get on a train easily, and go fishing,” says Gordon. The park has been visited by people with special needs from over 67 countries. “When we opened this, we didn’t know if it was going to work,” says Gordon. “All we wanted to do was bring people together and play.”
Just look at the smiles at Morgan’s Wonderland, and you’ll see how much good it does.
29. Why was Gordon extremely sad
A. His daughter was disabled. B. He had to sell his business.
C. His daughter was never satisfied. D. No playground was accessible to Morgan.
30. What do we know about Morgan’s Wonderland
A. Every child comes to play with Morgan. B. It hires the disabled to attract tourists.
C. It allows every child to have fun here. D. 3/4 of its area is for normal children.
31. How did Gordon feel about his amusement park at first
A. Confident. B. Uncertain. C. Ashamed. D. Optimistic.

Some students get so nervous before a test. They do poorly even if they know the material. Sian Beilock, a professor at the University of Chicago in Illinois, has studied these highly anxious test-takers. The students start worrying about the results. And when they worry, it actually uses up attention and memory resources (资源).
Professor Beilock and another researcher, Gerardo Ramirez, have developed a possible solution. Just before an exam, highly anxious test-takers spend ten minutes writing about their worries about the test.
The researchers tested the idea on a group of twenty anxious college students. They gave them two short maths tests. After the first one, they asked the students to either sit quietly or write about their feelings about the upcoming second test.
Professor Beilock says those who sat quietly scored an average of 12% worse on the second test. But the students who had written about their fears improved their performance by an average of 5%. Next, the researchers used younger students in a biology class. They told them before final exams either to write about their feelings or to think about things unrelated to the test. Professor Beilock says highly anxious students who did the writing got an average grade of B+, compared to a B-for those who did not.
“What we showed is that for students who are highly test-anxious, who’d done our writing intervention (干预), all of a sudden there was no relationship between test anxiety and performance. They were performing just as well as their classmates who don’t normally get nervous in these tests.”
But what if students do not have a chance to write about their fears immediately before an exam Professor Beilock says students can try it themselves at home or in the library and still improve their performance.
33. What may the students start worrying about before an exam
A. Whether they can pass the exams.
B. What other students do during the test.
C. Whether they have remembered the materials.
D. What kind of problems they will meet on the test paper.
34. What is the solution developed by researchers
A. Asking the students to ignore the test.
B. Asking the students to focus on the test.
C. Asking the students to sit quietly before the test.
D. Asking the students to write about their worries before the test.
35. According to Professor Beilock, those who thought about things unrelated to the test ________.
A. became less nervous before the test
B. were better at controlling their feelings
C. did worse than those who wrote about their feelings
D. did better than those who wrote about their feelings
36. What can be learned from the last paragraph
A. Writing about our worries before an exam can work a bit.

They told them before final exams either to write about their feelings or to think about things unrelated to the test. Professor Beilock says highly anxious students who did the writing got an average grade of B+, compared to a B-for those who did not(贝洛克教授说,那些静静地坐着的人在第二次测试中的平均得分要低12%。

At first, visitors are often surprised to find that they have difficulty in understanding the accents(口音)and dialects(方言)of certain regions. Even in England there are many different dialects.
Experts believe that for most English people, the places they come from are very important to them. Accents are clues to where people were born and where they grew up. Although some people may change the way they speak during their lifetime, most people carry at least some evidence of their accents and dialects throughout their lives. In addition to the regional accents of England, there can also be class difference among the accents. People are often able to make instant and unconscious judgments about a stranger’s class by listening to his or her accent. Both the words and the pronunciation of an individual reflect his or her social position.
It is agreed that in England, the kind of English spoken by a person plays a leading role that generally is not important in North America.. The importance of accents and their cultural and social relationships are well represented in films and on television in Britain. The film My Fair Lady based on George Bernard Shaw’s 1912 play Pygmalion is often said to be a wonderful example of how social class and the accent were, and still are, linked in Britain.

39. How do people in England know a person’s class
A. By speaking to him. B. By guessing.
C. By showing something to him. D. By judging from his appearance.

I’m sorry to hear that you are addicted to playing computer games. I can understand how upset and stressed you must be, but I think it will surely harm to your health. Here are a few things you can do.
First, if I were you, I would try my best to limit the time spent on video games each day, so I could spend more time on other meaningful activities and hobbies. Another step would be finding purpose in reality, from enjoying face-to-face conversations with your family and friends to taking a walk in the sunshine.

A. became less nervous before the test
B. were better at controlling their feelings

The size of the British Isles often leads people to think that the languages spoken in its countries of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are somewhat the same.
