●Americans usually shake hands with each other when they first meet. 当美国人第一次见面的时候,他们通常会互相握手。
shake hands表示“握手”,如表示“与某人握手”,用shake hands with sb.。例如:

●系动词
【用法展示】系动词本身有一定的词义,但不能独立作谓语,它需要在后面加上表语,一起构成“系表结构”。表语通常由名词、形容词,或相当于名词或形容词的词或短语等充当,说明主语是什么或怎么样。
我们常见的系动词:一是一觉一保持,起来五个,变了三个,即一是(be),一觉(feel感觉),一保持(keep),起来五个(look看起来,smell闻起来,taste尝起来,sound听起来,seem看起来像),变(get, turn, become)了三个。
许多除be以外的系动词,既可以用作系动词,又可以用作实义动词,我们应该要特别注意。例如:
She looked tired, but she soon felt better. 她看起来很累,但是不久她感觉好多了。
He looked at us happily because he won first prize. 因为他得了一等奖,所以他高兴地看着我们。
【点拨】第一句中的look和feel很明显都是系动词,而第二句中的look却为实义动词。
【结构分析】1.系动词+形容词
He always seems very quiet, but sometimes he makes trouble. 他似乎总是很安静,但有时也会惹麻烦。
2.系动词+名词
He seems a good teacher. 他看起来是个好老师。
3.系动词+不定式
He seems to have been to Beijing. 看起来他去过北京。
4.系动词+介词/介词短语
He looks in good health. 他看来十分健康。
