compare是动词,意为“比较”。compared with意为“和……作比较”,属于过去分词短语在句中作状语的情况。如:
Compared with China, Canada doesn't have many people.和中国相比,加拿大没有许多人口。
辨析:compare...with...与compare...to...
compare...with... 意为“把……和……比较”,表示同类比较
compare...to... 意为“将……比作……”,表示异类比较,含有比喻之意
如:
