When an earthquake hit a small town, many houses fell down. After the earthquake, all the newspapers reported many stories about some of the families who were in trouble.
One Sunday, when I was reading a newspaper, a special picture touched(触动)me. It gave the clothing sizes of each family member. I thought that this would be a good chance to teach my children to help those who were less lucky than themselves. I said to my seven-year-old twins, Brad and Brett, and three-year-old Meghan. “We have so much, and these poor people now have nothing. We’ll share what we have with them.”
I filled a box with foods and clothes. While I was doing this, I encouraged the boys to choose their toys and donate some of their less favourite things. Meghan watched quietly as the boys took out their old toys and games and put them together. Then she walked away.A few minutes later she came back with Lucy, he much-loved doll. She put the doll on top of the other toys. “Oh,dear,”I said. “You don't have to give Lucy .You love her so much.” Meghan said, “Lucy makes me happy, Mommy. Maybe she’ll make another little girl happy, too.”
I looked at Meghan for a long moment. She taught me a lesson. It's easy to give something that we don't want any more, but harder to give what we cherish(珍爱).

When I was a little girl, I remembered that when my dad was repairing something, he would ask me to hold the hammer, so we would have time for a conversation with each other, I never saw my dad drinking or taking a night out. All he did after work was taking care of his family.
I grew up and left home for college and since then, my dad had been calling me every Sunday morning. And when I bought a house several years later, my dad painted it by himself in the fierce summer heat. All he asked was to talk to him, but I was too busy in those days.
Four years ago, my dad visited me. He spent many hours putting together a swing for my daughter. He asked me to have a talk with him, but I had to prepare for a trip that weekend.
One Sunday morning we had a telephone talk as usual. I noticed that my dad had forgotten some things that we discussed lately. I was in a hurry, so our conversation was short. Several hours later that day I received a call. My father was in hospital. Immediately, I bought a plane ticket and on my way I was thinking about all the occasions I missed to have a talk with my dad. By the time I arrived at the hospital, my father had passed away. Now it was he who did not have time for a conversation with me. I realized how little I knew about my dad, his deepest thoughts and his dreams.
After his death I learned much more about him and even more about myself. All he ever wanted was my time. And now he has all my attention every single day.

Have you ever thought of taking a train and having an adventure(奇遇) Riding the train can be a real adventure. That is how I feel every time I take Amtrak. I often take a four-hour trip to visit my children. Every time I take this trip I never know what will happen.
Last week when I was on the train and over an hour into the train ride, there was a man sitting by himself in the back of the train carrying on a mobile phone conversation-in another language. It was loud and disturbed most of the people on the train. I think it was annoying.
Fortunately I sat next to a wonderful old lady who was taking a Two-day trip by train. She said her two daughters were distraught at the thought of her driving for three days to reach her home, although she had no trouble driving. The train ride was the only choice for her. She loved to look out of the window and watch the world go by on the train.
She was fun to talk to and asked me when my children started being parents. That is very good question. Both of us are old and have children. She asked that same question from time to time.
There are always many people on the train from all walks of life, different countries, and many languages. Riding the train is a great way to increase your knowledge and take in all kinds of cultures. If you get hungry, you can buy food in the food car at any time. If you need to use the rest room there is always one available.
It sure beats driving the car, which has to stop for food an restrooms. And it is better than taking the bus.

35. What is the best title for this passage

Perry Piccolo was a rich kid who led a very comfortable life. He thought he was the luckiest boy in the world because he could get anything from his parents. One day, Perry went to the cinema to see a movie he'd been dying to see. The problem was that he arrived a hit late, just as the last ticket was being sold to a boy. The boy had been saving for weeks to buy this ticket. Realizing there was no ticket left for him, Perry was angry, shouting and asking the boy to hand his ticket over.
“Why should I give you my ticket I arrived before you did and I've paid for it, ”said the boy.
“Because I'm more important than you! Look at me! I'm rich. Don't you see ”Perry replied proudly.
At that moment, a handsome man came over to Perry and offered him a ticket, saying, “Of course, my boy. You have the right to see this movie."
Then Perry entered the Cinema happily, when he got inside, Perry looked around and was pleased to see that the place was filled with other rich children like him. However, as soon as Perry sat down,he disappeared and was somehow teleported(瞬移) onto the cinema sereen. He realized that he became a movie character, playing the central role in many stories.
In all the stories Perry started out with a lot of bad luck: a couple of times his parents disappeared, other times his house burned down and he lost all his money. Sometimes he found himself in a situation where everyone treated(对待) him like fool. In all these stories, Perry had to try to survive(活下来) and get over his difficulties. He managed this, even though few people would have given him a hope. However, all the stories had a happy ending, in which a wise, mysterious(神秘的), handsome man would help Perry realize his dreams.
