Language points
2. Have you ever won any prizes before
你以前得过奖吗?
“have/has sb. ever+动词的过去分词”用于询问某人过去的经历,ever表示“曾经”,用以加强语气。例如:
Has she ever been to France
她曾经去过法国吗?
Have you ever climbed the Great Wall
你曾经登过长城吗?
3. But I can’t afford it.
但是我负担不起。
afford用法比较丰富,后面可以接名词、代词和动词不定式。例如:
We cannot afford the trip.
我们掏不起旅行的费用。
We cannot afford to go on a holiday this
year.
我们今年没钱度假。
4. I've stopped trying now.
我己经不想再尝试了。
注意: stop doing sth. 表示“停止正在做的事情”,而stop to do sth . 表示“停下正在做的事去做另一件事”。试比较:
She stopped singing.
她停止了歌唱。
She stopped to sing.
她停下来去唱歌了。
5. You can make it up.
你可以编(一个故事)嘛。
make up表示“创造,编造”。例如:
He made up an interesting story and told it
to his friends.
他编了个有趣的故事讲给他的朋友们 听。
make up还有“组成,构成”的意思。例如:
The three paragraphs make up a passage.
