Most of us know about the weather through the weather report. But we can know the weather by ourselves. It is a useful skill. By learning what to look for, you can predict (预测) the weather.
▲Watch the Wind and Air.
Observe (观察) the direction of wind. Wind comes when air moves. Because weather moves in from the west, westerly winds bring good weather. Easterly winds bring the bad weather.
You can use grass or flower to decide the direction of the wind. Throw them into the air and watch the direction of the wind.
▲Watch smoke from a fire.
The air pressure (压力) decides where the smoke will go. In high pressure high up in the sky, the smoke will go up into the air. If the pressure is low, it will be back down around the fire. If you see the smoke back down, bad weather is likely coming.
▲Take a deep breath.
Close your eyes and smell (闻) the air. Smells become wet right before a storm, making them stronger. Before a storm, you should also notice a compost (堆肥) smell. If you smell this, it means that a storm is coming.

In England, people often talk about the weather because they can have four seasons in one day. In the morning the weather is warm just like in spring. An hour later black clouds come and then it rains hard. The weather gets a little cold. In the afternoon the sky will be sunny, the sun may begin to shine. It may be just like a day in summer. You can also have summer in winter, or have winter in summer. So in winter you can sometimes swim, and in summer you can sometimes wear warm clothes. When you go to England, you will see that some English people usually take an umbrella or a raincoat with them on a sunny morning. But you’d better not laugh at them. When Hook’s going to kill the Lost Boys and make Wendy watch them die, he hears a noise. It is the tick-tock of the crocodile. Hook looks very afraid now.
“Hide me!” Hook says in a frightened voice. The pirates run to him and stand around him.
The Lost Boys run to the side of the ship curiously and get a big surprise! It isn’t the crocodile. It’s Peter! He’s making the tick-tock noise and he’s coming to help them. Peter climbs on the ship and goes quietly into the cabin.

Inside the cabin Peter unties the boys and Wendy. Then they all creep out quietly and hide. Peter puts Wendy’s cloak over his head and takes her place. Then he starts crowing.
