from which the rainforest gets its name是“介词+which”引导的非限制性定语从句,修饰The Amazon River。 “介词+关系代词”既可以引导限制性定语从句,也可以引导非限制性定语从句,关系代词只能用which或whom。修饰物时用which,修饰人时用whom。 介词的确定根据以下方面来选择: ①句意; ②定语从句中谓语动词或形容词与介词的搭配; ③表示所属关系或者表示“整体中的一部分”都用of。

一、简单句中的省略

1.状语从句的省略
当状语从句的主语跟主句的主语相同或从句的主语为it且从句谓语中含有be动词时,则从句中的主语和be动词常被省略。

2.定语从句的省略
当关系代词在限制性定语从句中作宾语时,关系代词可以省略。

四、动词不定式中的省略
1.当不定式在形容词afraid,anxious,eager,glad,happy,ready,willing等后作状语时,to后的内容常省略。

五、使用so,not 等时的省略
在英语中,可以用so,not或其他方式来省略上文或问句中的一部分或整个句子。

注意:hope,guess,be afraid的否定形式只能用not的形式,不能用not...so的形式。

六、介词的省略
