一、课标关于本节内容的要求。
在新目标八年级下册Unit 2 I’ll ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com ) help to clean up the city parks.中，学生们已经学习了used to be 这一短语。九年级第四单元，是对这一短语的综合运用。因此教师在讲解这个单元时，可以结合《英语课程标准》的五级要求，对used to的用法进行梳理和归纳。
二、本节教材内容分析。
新目标英语九年级第4单元以I used t ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )o be afraid of the dark.为中心话题，运用used to描述自己或他人过去的外貌或性格。本课的教学内容与学生的实际生活密切相关，易于引发学生运用简单的英语进行交际和交流。在学习活动中，学生通过询问他人过去的外貌或性格，促进学生之间和师生之间的情感交流。本节课是Section A的第一课时（1a—1c），主要学习内容是：先运用一般现在时态“I have long hair.”描述现在的自己，从而引出“I used to have short hair. I used to be thin….”等含有 “ used to”的句型。
1a活动的目的是让学生通过识图来引出本单元 ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )的话题“I/ He/ She used to be…..”。这一活动有两个作用，一是帮助学生更好地理解 “used to be”的用法，二是为下边的听力活动做好语言上的铺垫；1b是一个听力活动，主要通过听对话描述Mario, Amy及Tina过去的样子；作者的意图是让学生在熟练运用“used to have/ wear/ be ”等一系列短语进行听的练习。所以在挖空时，设计得比较容易，只是让学生填出表示人物性格或外貌的形容词或名词，如：short, curly。1c的活动是通过编对话的形式来操练1a中出现的询问别人过去或现在外貌的句型，对话的重点是运用“used to”。
三、教学设计
（一）教学目标
1 语言目标：要求学生熟练掌握生词、短语和重点句子。

二、本节教材内容分析。

这两个短语都是“以...为傲”的意思，但是proud是形容词性，pride是名词性，
