课题 Book3 Unit1 Integrated skills — calling for the protection of animals ( Period II )
1.教材分析 In this period, students first will be guided to review the main points of last class in groups, and then talk in pairs to exchange their thoughts about animal protection. Finally, students will be guided to plan, write,evaluate and improve their articles in class. During the writing process, students are expected to mainly employ the information and useful expressions acquired in the last class and their own ideas to write an article calling for animal protection. What In this section, there is a news report about how human activities are harming animals, and a video about protecting animals. Finally, some writing guidance is offered on how to write an article for the school newspaper calling for everyone to protect animals. Why Nowadays, animals get badly harmed and some of them have gone extinct because of human activities. It is necessary that people should realize the seriousness of the problem and do something practical to help protect animals. This section aims to raise students’ awareness of protecting animals by making them have a good knowledge of the importance of animals, the harm to animals done by human activities and some effective ways to protect them .Ultimately, students are expected to write a powerful article to call on people to protect animals. How By reading the news report, students will know how human activities are harming animals. By watching the video, students will know how important animals are and what ways could be used to protect them effectively. With the teacher’s guidance on the article writing, students will know how to plan their writing and finally be able to employ the acquired information, expressions and their own ideas to write an article calling for animal protection.
2.学情分析 What students have known: From the first period of class, students have acquired a good knowledge of harm to animals caused by human activities, the importance of animals and ways to protect animals. It lays a foundation for the article writing. Apart from that, students are interested in animals and familiar with the topic of animal protection, so they will have some ideas to express in class activities.

What students need to learn: Students have little idea of how to plan the writing and how to organize their ideas, so they need the teacher’s writing guidance. Besides, their knowledge about animals and animal protection is limited, so they need to acquire more in this class. Possible difficulties: They may find it a little difficult to write the article in the limited time in class, and evaluate their articles comprehensively.
3.教学目标 By the end of this period, students will be able to: 1.employ the ideas and useful expressions mainly acquired from the first class to write an article to call for animal protection. 2.further reflect on why and how to protect animals, know how to plan their writing and evaluate their articles. 3.learn how to plan their article writing and how to improve their article via self-evaluation and peer-evaluation. 4. develop strong awareness of protecting animals.
4.教学重点 1.Students will be checked to review the importance of protecting animals, harm to animals done by human activities and the ways to protect animals. 2.Students will be guided to figure out the planning of the writing, do the writing in class and improve their writing by checking and evaluating it. 3.Students will be guided to raise awareness of protecting animals and living in harmony with them.
5.教学难点 Students are expected to finish the writing in class and improve their writing through checking and evaluation.

设计意图: 将学生分组, 指导学生以小组方式复习和巩固上节课中的重点信息, 提升动物保护意识, 为接下 来的谈论活动作准备,同时也为写作获得必备信息。

8.作业布置 (说明:分必做和选做两类,体现作业的层次性、开放性、自主性和实践性,既面向全体学生,又促进学生 个性发展。必做作业旨在巩固和提升本节课主要教学目标即学生利用学习策略写一篇呼吁保护动物 的文章;选做作业旨在践行动物保护,体现了增强学生动物保护意识的教学目标。) 1.Compulsory work: Do research on one endangered animal like Huangshan Macaques and write an article to call on people to protect them. 2. Optional work: Make a video based on your article and post it on the media to call for animal protection.
9.教学反思 本节课围绕单元主题语境“人与自然”, 以“保护动物 ”创设情境, 主要通过说、写和评的活动来培养 学生的语言能力、思维品质、学习能力和文化意识。教学目标明确,教学过程清晰,环节紧凑,层层递进, 达到了预期的教学目标。本节课亮点是对学生进行写作规划的有效指导和对作品的自评、互评和评价分享环 节,真正将教学评价落到实处,实现教-学-评一体化,达到以评促学的功能。本节课也有一些不足之处,如 鉴于学生个体差异,学生的语言输出和呈现还不够完善;鉴于时间关系,没有分享和评价更多的学生作品, 没有照顾到每个学生的课堂反馈。在今后的教学中, 我将加强思考, 继续努力, 力争在不足之处有大的进步。
