1.Professor Salovey, who invented the term EQ, gives the following description: at work, it is IQ that gets you employed, but it is EQ that gets you promoted.

在书面语中,动词-ed形式常用来连接两个部分。在句中这些动词-的形式短语可以代替:
1、原因状语:
1) He soon fell asleep,exhausted by the journey.
2)Because he is exhausted by the journey, he soon fell asleep.
第一个句子是Ved形式作原因状语,相当于第二个原因状语从句。
2、时间状语
1、Seen from the hill, the town looks impressive.
2、When the town was seen from the hill, it looks impressive.
第一个句子是Ved形式作时间状语,相当于第二个句子中的时间状语从句 。
3、条件状语
1、Given more time and attention, you can do much better next time.
2、If you are given more time and attention, you can do much better next time.
第一个Ved形式作条件状语相当于第二个句中的条件状语从句
