Polar bears are solitary (独居的) animals. We often see them standing alone in pictures. 11.
To answer this question, we have to think what we mean by the word “lonely”. Humans are social (群居的) animals. 12. We have used languages and tools to stay alive (活着). Because we need one another, we don't like being alone all that much, and we feel lonely.
But we are just one kind of animal. Other animals are very different. 13. Social animals like humans are often the prey (猎物), not predators (捕食性动物). We need to stay together for safety (安全).
This difference is important in the plant kingdom, too. 14. But other plants want to be alone. Some even give off chemicals (化学制品) around them to kill off other plants.
So, do polar bears get lonely How can we answer this question 15. Just as polar bears have evolved (进化) to stay warm in cold places, they have evolved not to care so much when they're on their own. So next time you see a picture of a polar bear on its own, looking a little sad, don't feel so bad. It probably isn't all that lonely.
A.We have evolved to spend time with other people.
B.It seems that being lonely is part of being social.
C.People around the world like polar bears very much.
D.But have you ever wondered whether polar bears get lonely
E.Some plants work together to stay alive, a bit like humans do.

三、阅读理解
There are many wetlands (湿地) in China and some of them have become the world's important wetlands. The Chinese Yellow Sea Wetlands are among them. They are in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. They are home to many different kinds of animals. The world's largest Milu Deer Nature Reserve (自然保护区) is in them. More than 700 milu deer live freely there. There are not many red-crowned cranes in the world, but every winter you can see some in the Red-crowned Cranes Nature Reserve in the Yellow Sea Wetlands.
The temperature in the wetlands is usually neither too high nor too low. There is a lot of rain and sunshine, too. They are really good places for wildlife. Offering food and home for some special kinds of animals is not the only reason why we need to protect wetlands. Wetlands are important because they can also prevent flood. But some people want to change the wetlands to make more space for farms and buildings. This means there will be less and less space for wildlife.
Luckily, more and more people are beginning to realize the importance of wetlands to wildlife. Every year, on February 2nd, the World Wetlands Day, many activities are held to tell people more about wetlands.
