In fact, these things are really important for them to keep healthy. It’s important for teenagers to get enough energy. Teenage girls need about 2,200 calories a day while boys need a bit more—doctors suggest 2,800 for teenage boys. 50% of their calories should come from healthy food—rice, vegetables and fruit. The story behind “Bro Shank You”
Row Row Row Your Boat, a traditional English nursery rhyme, which is still popular today, has enjoyed a second wave of popularity because of a Chinese farmer.
Liu Tao, a middle-aged farmer from Yangshuo, Guilin, South China’s Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, loves English and nicknames himself “Teacher Liu” on a short video platform (平台). Netizens (网友) are amused by his funny accent, and tease him calling him “Bro Shank You”.
“In the 1980s, so many international friends came to visit Yangshuo that they even outnumbered the Chinese people on the street. When seeing me, they would say hello.” Liu said. From then on, he dreamed of being an English tour guide.
He then returned home to do farm work, but he never stopped learning English. Borrowing textbooks from friends, Liu began homeschooling.
“Practice makes perfect. Only when I repeat one sentence several times, can I remember it.” Liu even has a diary of oral English where he wrote down many dialogues used in different occasions.
Though the COVID-19 pandemic has influenced the local tourism, Liu remains true to his original aspiration. He turned to a short-video platform to introduce his hometown in both Chinese and English.
Some people laugh at Liu’s accent, but most of them show their support for him after hearing his story. “If you had been him, most of you might have given up.” “He is pretty good at self-learning!” “I do admire his thought of introducing his hometown.”
Liu doesn’t feel lost in people’s attention, as he knows too well how transient (转瞬即逝的) people’s attention can be. But he does hope that the audience can get happiness and enjoy the beautiful views of his hometown from his videos.

On the evening of September 26, 2019, the streets of Geneva in Switzerland went dark. This usually happens when there is a problem with the electricity, but this time the lights were turned off to allow people to go outside and look at the stars. This is often impossible in a city because of light population.
Light pollution is when light from streetlights or buildings makes the night less dark. There are many reasons why this is a problem. Animals sleep less because they think it is still daytime. Birds that fly to warmer countries in the autumn need to see the moon and starts to find their way, but light pollution makes this difficult. Insects and birds in cities often fly towards lights at night, knock into buildings and die.
Light pollution is also bad for us. It can stop us sleeping and give us headaches. Also, we don’t see the same sky that people in the past did. This means we almost never see one of the greatest scenes in the world: the millions of stars. Hundreds of thousands of people have never seen it in their lives.
However, it is not difficult to do a few things to reduce (减轻) light pollution: we can all turn lights off when we don’t need them and we can cover our windows. If there is less light pollution, we will once again be able to enjoy the beauty of the night sky.
23.Why were the streetlights turned off in Geneva
24.What helps birds find their way
25.What bad influences does light pollution have on people’s health
26.How can we reduce light pollution (at least two ways)

Today, if we talk about a color, we only need to use a simple name. For example, “blue” in Chinese is lan. But in ancient China, there were many beautiful names for blue, such as yuebai, qielan and shiqing.
Similar to the color wheel developed by Isaac Newton, ancient Chinese people created colors using the idea of pure (纯) colors and mixed colors. There were five pure colors, including qing (blue), chi (red), yellow, white and black. These basic colors can be put together to produce mixed colors. For example, mixing yellow and blue could make green. Lots of colors came into being thanks to this.
As for naming, ancient Chinese people paid much attention to the imagination that colors bring. For example, dongfang jibai is a light blue color. The blue color describes what the sky looks like early in the morning. Similarly, the pink color taoyao is used to describe blossoming (开花的) peach trees. The purple color mushanzi describes a sunset covering the mountain.
Meanwhile, a color was not just a color, but a symbol of social status (地位) in ancient China. For example, yellow was long seen as the symbol of power. Only the leader of the country and his family could use it. During the Tang Dynasty, officials needed to wear clothes with certain colors. Only officials of the top three grades were allowed to wear purple clothes, while those of the fourth and fifth wore red clothes, the sixth and seventh officials wore green clothes. Blue was for those in the two lowest grades.
The colors that the ancients left us can be seen in society today. Nowadays, some TV programs present traditional Chinese colors in clothes and buildings, which excite (引起) people’s interest in ancient colors.

29.How did people create the color green by using the pure colors
30.What does the color mushanzi describe
31.Who could wear the color purple in ancient China

What’s more, having a dazi may bring some unexpected results. “Once, my game dazi and I made a mistake when playing a game, but we worked together to correct it. By playing the game together, I’m surprised to find that I have a better understanding of teamwork!” Shi said.

Xing Yifan and his parents were very excited when they knew that Xing had a chance to study at Beihang University with a score of 645. It would be a great challenge for most high school graduates (毕业生) to get such a high score, especially for the 18-year-old boy.
Xing was born in Jilin Province in 2003. His family were happy with his coming and did not notice anything wrong until he was three months old.
“When we took him for photos in the studio, the photographer told us our son wasn’t able to do the same things other kids of his age could. He advised us to take him to the hospital for a check,” said his father Xing Dacheng.
“Although we were psychologically (心理上地) prepared, we never imagined our son would grow up with such a condition. And the doctors told us there was no useful way of treatment,” Xing’s father said.
When relatives and friends heard the news, they advised the couple to have another baby. But Xing’s parents decided to pour all their love and care into their son.
“Yifan is an angel who came to our family. He might have broken wings, but we would never give him up,” the father said.
Xing Yifan got the highest score in his school for the senior high school entrance examination in 2018. To prepare for Gaokao, he studied even harder from the day he started at Jilin No. 1 Senior High School.
He seldom went to bed before midnight, especially in the third year. To avoid bringing trouble to others, he drank less water at school to lower (减少) his need to go to the toilet.
Unluckily, he got hurt several months ago, so he had to stay at home. After three months, he came back to school, and to his teachers’ surprise, he made great progress instead of falling behind his classmates.
“I felt inspired (鼓舞的) when I read the story of British physicist Stephen Hawking. I will continue to study hard at university, and I hope I can be someone like him, who changed the world with his knowledge.”

The earliest form of writing appeared about 5, 500 years ago. In the past, hand writing was an important subject in school. Now, many students sometimes do homework on a computer and turn in their tasks online.
Many people think typing (打字) is quick and easy to read, while writing by hand may take longer than typing. But others say writing with a pen and paper is more valuable. Writing by hand has big advantages. Research shows that when we write down ideas with a pen or pencil, we make the brain active to help us learn, remember and think. Writing by hand lets people show their creativity. No two people have the same handwriting. Writing by hand can also help people concentrate. When using a computer, people can go online or play computer games easily.
Handwriting may be pretty, however, people can get their ideas and thoughts down more quickly when they type. Typing can also make it easier for people to change. Once something is written by hand, you can’t delete it. If you want to make a change, you have to write it all over again. What’s more, some people’s handwriting may be hard to read. Typing makes everything clear, and no one will have to worry about their words being clear enough.
57.When did people begin to write
58.How is the brain when we write by hand
59.What’s the main idea of Paragraph 2
60.How many advantages of typing are mentioned in Paragraph 3
61.If you need to write a report, will you type or handwrite it Why (Give 2 reasons. )

Humans share the Earth with all kinds of wildlife and have lived in peace with them for thousands of years.
Many of our animal friends may not be around for much longer, however, and many of them are in great danger. According to a study, the populations of animals including mammals (哺乳动物), birds and fish have fallen by an average of 60 percent since 1970. What’s worse, a study in 2014 found that species (物种) are dying out 1,000 times faster than normal.
Sadly, it is because of humans that animals are in this situation now. By increasing human development, we may end up seriously harming the environment on which animals live and depend. Human development has caused pollution in oceans and three quarters of the world’s land to be affected (影响). The balance between animals and their ecosystems has been greatly harmed by humans.
Luckily, many people have realized that our action in fact does harm to animals, risking our own lives as a result, so effective steps have been quickly taken to save both these endangered animals as well as ourselves. The World Wildlife Fund has called on governments and businesses to protect nature. In China, many natural reserves (保护区) have been built up and harmful behavior such as selling rhino horns (犀牛角), tiger bones and ivory has been banned (禁止).
People have been taking steps in the right direction, which is encouraging news. The numbers of many animals have increased. The protection of animals still has a long way to go. In the end, to protect animals is to protect ourselves, and we should spare no effort toward living in harmony (和谐) with nature.
