● 39 .
So many of us have the belief that being comfortable is the only state we will tolerate, and when we experience something outside of our comfort zone, we get impatient about the circumstances. E. It can also help us practice more patience
F. This is merely uncomfortable, not intolerable
G. They’re all situations where we could use a little extra patience
根据本段内容“So many of us have the belief that being comfortable is the only state we will tolerate, and when we experience something outside of our comfort zone, we get impatient about the circumstances. (我们中的许多人都认为舒适是我们唯一能容忍的状态,当我们经历舒适区之外的事情时,我们会对环境失去耐心)”可知,本段提到了舒适是我们唯一能容忍的状态,
第三步:锁定最佳答案。本段的主旨与接受不舒适相关,C选项中uncomfortable对应后文comfortable。故C选项“接受不舒服”符合语境,故选C。
考例2 (2022 全国乙卷)39题

·Set a regular date
..
·More isn’t always merrier

· 39
Anniversaries and birthdays carry even more weight in long-distance friendships. Although technology might make day-to-day communication possible, extra effort goes a long way on special days. Simply keeping a diary that keeps track of friends’ birthdays and other important dates will make sure nothing slips by you.
·Don’t rely on technology alone

A. Remember important dates
B. Compensate by writing letters

E. Friends need to talk about their preferred methods of communication
F. It is easy to have a sense of connectedness through social media
G. You may be the friend who left or the one who was left behind
下文“Anniversaries and birthdays carry even more weight in long-distance friendships.”(周年纪念日和生日对于异地友谊而言是非常重要的。)
Simply keeping a diary that keeps track of friends’ birthdays and other important dates 中 friends’ birthdays 和other important dates与标题 Remember important dates 呼应。
If you travel, you will leave a carbon footprint in your walk. You can’t help it. But eco-friendly travel practices can lighten the harm on Mother Earth. Green travel is not a passing trend but a lifestyle choice. Follow the tips and watch your footprints turn greener
Choosing a green destination

Choosing green transportation

Choosing a green hotel

40 .
The Earth-friendly choices are numerous: You can sail, bike, kayak, swim, bird-watch and play I-spy-a-monkey in a tree. Visit a local food market, and don’t forget to bring a reusable bag for purchases. You can also lend a hand during your holiday. The green movement has changed from how to preserve and protect to how to use less and do good when you’re there.
A. Choosing green travel
B. Choosing green activities
C. The greenest rides typically run on electric power.
D. No destination is a Green Giant.
E. Look for a fact sheet online, or call the front desk
F. If you plan to drive, consider a fuel-efficient vehicle
G. Follow the tips and watch your footprints turn greener
根据下文“The Earth-friendly choices are numerous: You can sail, bike, kayak, swim, bird-watch and play I-spy-a-monkey in a tree. Visit a local food market, and don’t forget to bring a reusable bag for purchases. You can also lend a hand during your holiday. The green movement has changed from how to preserve and protect to how to use less and do good when you’re there.
What’s Really Green
Most of us are aware that we must take care of the environment, and the majority of us take steps to save energy. and reduce waste and pollution. But recently, some “green truths” have been shown to be only half true, or even completely false. Here are some common ones.
Paper shopping bags are better than plastic ones.

38
It seems like common sense: eating local food should be better for the environment, because it does not need to be transported long distances and kept cold during transport. 39 Unfortunately, it is not that simple. It is the production of food, not its transport, that uses most of the energy and produces most of the greenhouse gases. In some cases, local food might have used more energy and produced more greenhouse gases than food grown a long way away, even taking into account its transport.
It’s better to take a shower than a bath.

A. So say no to plastic bags.
B. Here are some common ones.
C. Unfortunately, it is not that simple.
D. Eating local food is good for the environment.
E. The process also produces more greenhouse gases.
F. It’s time that we should take some measures to protect our environment.
G. It depends on how long you spend in the shower and how large your bath is.
设空句为该部分标题句,后文对其起到解释说明的作用,因此根据后文“It seems like common sense: eating local food should be better for the environment, because it does not need to be transported long distances and kept cold during transport.(这似乎是常识:吃当地食物应该对环境更好,因为它不需要长途运输,也不需要在运输过程中冷藏。)” D “Eating local food is good for the environment. (吃当地食物对环境有好处。)”符合分析。
第三步:锁定最佳答案。本段反复性提到多吃本地产食物是绿色消费保护环境的有效途径。故选D项。

1.(2023年全国甲卷)
Tricks To Becoming A Patient Person
Here’s a riddle: What do traffic jams, long lines and waiting for a vacation to start all have in common There’s one answer. 36 .
In the Digital Age, we’re used to having what we need immediately and right at our fingertips. However, research suggests that if we practiced patience, we’d be a whole lot better off. Here are several tricks.
●Practice gratitude (感激)
Thankfulness has a lot of benefits: Research shows it makes us happier, less stressed and even more optimistic. 37 . “Showing thankfulness can foster self-control,” said Ye Li, researcher at the University of California.
● Make yourself wait
Instant gratification (满足) may seem like the most “feel good” option at the time, but psychology research suggests waiting for things actually makes us happier in the long run. And the only way for us to get into the habit of waiting is to practice. 38 . Put off watching your favorite show until the weekend or wait 10 extra minutes before going for that cake. You’ll soon find that the more patience you practice, the more you start to apply it to other, more annoying situations.

36.根据上文“Here’s a riddle: What do traffic jams, long lines and waiting for a vacation to start all have in common There’s one answer. (这里有一个谜语:交通堵塞、排长队和等待假期开始有什么共同之处?答案只有一个)”可知,本句说明上文谜语的答案,结合“交通堵塞、排长队和等待假期”这些情况可知都需要耐心。故G选项“在这些情况下,我们都需要一点额外的耐心”符合语境,故选G。
37.根据上文“Thankfulness has a lot of benefits: Research shows it makes us happier, less stressed and even more optimistic.(感恩有很多好处:研究表明,感恩让我们更快乐,压力更小,甚至更乐观)”以及后文““Showing thankfulness can foster self-control,” said Ye Li, researcher at the University of California. (加州大学的研究员叶丽说:“表达感激可以培养自我控制能力。”)”可知,上文提到了感恩的诸多好处,可知本句继续说明感恩的好处:它还可以帮助我们练习更多的耐心。E选项中It指代上文Thankfulness。故E选项“它还可以帮助我们练习更多的耐心”符合语境,故选E。
38.根据上文“And the only way for us to get into the habit of waiting is to practice. (我们养成等待习惯的唯一方法就是练习)”以及后文“Put off watching your favorite show until the weekend or wait 10 extra minutes before going for that cake. (把你最喜欢的节目推迟到周末再看,或者多等10分钟再去吃蛋糕)”可知,后文列举的事情都是日常的小事,说明要从小事开始练习等待,故B选项“从小任务开始”符合语境,故选B。
39.根据本段内容“So many of us have the belief that being comfortable is the only state we will tolerate, and when we experience something outside of our comfort zone, we get impatient about the circumstances. (我们中的许多人都认为舒适是我们唯一能容忍的状态,当我们经历舒适区之外的事情时,我们会对环境失去耐心)”可知,本段提到了舒适是我们唯一能容忍的状态,结合前文的小标题都是祈使句可知,本段的主旨与接受不舒适相关,C选项中uncomfortable对应后文comfortable。故C选项“接受不舒服”符合语境,故选C。
40.根据上文“You should learn to say to yourself (你应该学会对自己说……)”以及后文“You’ll then gradually become more patient. (然后你会逐渐变得更有耐心)”结合本段主要说明的是不舒服的状态,可知,本句为对自己所说的话与接受不舒服相关,故F选项“这仅仅是不舒服,而不是无法忍受”符合语境,故选F。

G. You may be the friend who left or the one who was left behind
36-40 DBGAF
36. D。上文“With busy schedules, squeezing in phone calls can be a challenge.”(平日繁忙,很难抽出时间打电话。)
37. B。上文“Make sure you have communicated with your friend about how frequently each of you wants to be contacted and what method works best for you both.”(确保你已经与你的朋友沟通过,了解你们彼此希望联系的次数,以及哪种沟通方式最适合你们两人。)提到异地朋友之间要商量沟通方式,B项“可以通过写信补偿”提出了其中一种沟通方式:写信,下文“There are alternatives to constant written communication, such as leaving voice messages or having a group chat.”(除了不断的文字交流,还有其他方式,比如发语音或者组建群聊。)
38. G。下文“The friend who is remaining”(留下来的朋友)和“The one in the new environment”(在新环境中的那个)提到朋友的两个不同处境,G项“你可能是朋友中离开的那一方,也可能是被留下的那一方”指出了异地友谊中分为离开的一方和留下的一方,其中“the friend who left”和“the one who was left behind”分别对应下文“The one in the new environment”和“The friend who is remaining”,所以G项符合题意。故选G。
39. A。 下文“Anniversaries and birthdays carry even more weight in long-distance friendships.”(周年纪念日和生日对于异地友谊而言是非常重要的。) 故选A。
40. F。设空处所在句子的后半句“but long-distance friendships — even close ones — may require more conscious effort to sustain.”(但是异地友谊——甚至是关系亲密的友谊——可能需要更加自觉地去维系。)

31. 上文“I have the same 24 hours in a day as you do, but 1 have made specific choice that allow me to make the most of every day and still feel happy and relaxed.( 我和你一样,每天都有24小时,但我做了具体的选择,让我充分利用每一天,仍然感到快乐和放松)”说明作者做出选择,充分利用每一天,但仍旧感到快乐和轻松,根据下文段落小标题可知,下文就如何充分利用每一天给出了建议,因此空格处应是承上启下,F项中的“help you make the most of your time”与上文“to make the most of every day”一致,“tips”引出下文的建议,因此F项“也许这些建议会帮助你充分利用你的时间”符合语境,承上启下。故选F。
32. 根据段落标题“Pick the most important.”可知,本段建议挑选最重要的,下文“Focus on spending time that for you is fun and productive.( 把时间花在那些对你来说有趣和富有成效的事情上)”说明要挑选一些有趣的和富有成效的事情去做,D项中的“what is meaningful in your life”与标题中的“the most important”一致,下文是对“Make choices”具体解释。
33. 上文“Many people go crazy trying to figure out how to spend time with friends, family, work, play, etc.( 许多人疯狂地试图弄清楚如何在朋友,家庭,工作,娱乐等方面度过时间)”说明许多人想要弄清楚在生活中如何分配好时间,下文“Find ways to enjoy them in a combined manner.( 找到一种结合的方式来享受它们)”说明可以把事情组合在一起享受,因此推断空格处与上文是转折关系,说明不要试图均衡时间,C项“不要试图在它们之间平衡时间”符合语境。故选C。
根据下文“You would think learning takes more time from you, but actually there are always new ways of doing things that can save you time on daily tasks, freeing you up for the most important. Always be looking for a new way to gain back an hour here or there. Always be looking for a new way to gain back an hour here or there. (你可能会认为学习需要花费了你更多的时间,但实际上总有一些新的方法可以为你节省出做日常事务的时间,为你腾出时间去做最重要的事情。寻找在这里或者那里赢回一个小时的新方法)”可推断,本段讲述学习虽然花费很多时间,但总是能有一些方法为你节省时间做其他事情,因此要做有效的学习者。因此推断B项“做有效的学习者”为段落标题,故选B。
35. 下文“Every completion is a small victory that adds up in a big way.( 每一次的完成都是一个小的胜利,累积起来就是一个大的胜利)”说明事情要一件一件去做,G项中的“making lists”与之呼应,因此推断G项“这就是为什么列清单在任何生产手册中都很重要的原因”符合语境,this指代上文“The world won't come to an end in most cases just because you left a few things undone. Celebrate progress and keep refining (改进) toward a happy productive existence.( 在大多数情况下,世界不会因为你没做完几件事而走向末日。庆祝进步,不断改进走向一个快乐而富有成效的存在)”解释了列出清单一件一件完成任务的原因。故选G。
4.(2011年辽宁卷)
Easy Ways to Keep Your Brain Sharp
Everyone is forgetful, but as we age, we start to feel like our brains are slowing down a bit—and that can be a very annoying thing. 71 Read on for some techniques worth trying.
People who regularly made plans and looked forward to upcoming events had a 50 percent reduced chance of Alzheimer's disease (早老性痴呆症), according to a recent study. 73 Something as simple as setting a goal to have a weekly coffee date with a friend will do. There's evidence that people who have a purpose in life or who are working on long or short-term goals appear to do better. In other words, keep your brain looking forward.
2. Go for a walk.
Mildly raised glucose (葡萄糖) levels can harm the area of the brain that helps you form memories and physical activity can help get blood glucose down to normal levels. In fact, exercise produces chemicals that are good for your brain. 74
3. Learn something new.
Take a Spanish class online, join a drawing club, or learn to play cards. A study found that mental stimulation (刺激) limits the weakening effects of aging on memory and the mind. But the best thing for your brain is when you learn something new and are physically active at the same time. 75 Or go dancing with your friends.
A. Focus on the future.
B. This can be especially harmful to the aged.
C. It should be something like learning gardening.
D. So take a few minutes each day to do some reading.
E. But don't worry if your schedule isn't filled with life-changing events.
F. Luckily, research shows there is a lot you can do to avoid those moments.
G. In other words, when you take care of your body, you take care of your brain.
F 72. A 73. E 74. G 75. C
再结合本段的最后一句话“In other words, keep your brain looking forward” 可知,这里是在建议我们向前看。
所以选G(换句话说,当你照顾身体的时候,你就是在照顾你的大脑。)
可知,选C(可以是想跳舞这样的事情。)

Perform Stand-up Comedy
Stand-up is a type of comedy in which someone performs a series of jokes in front of a live audience. You can create a stand-up comedy act to perform for family and friends or at a school or community talent show. 31 Here are some tips to help you get started.
Write your material.
To begin writing jokes, start brainstorming topics. Many comedians talk about their personal experiences or make humorous observations about popular topics like sports or movies. 32 For example, your friends would probably understand your funny observations about middle school, but your family may not. When you have an idea for a joke, approach it like writing a short essay. It should have a beginning that attracts the listener, followed by a middle that sets up characters or provides information people need to know to understand the joke.
Pull everything together.
Once you have several jokes written, you can add them to a stand-up routine, called a “set”. A set can be anywhere from a few minutes to more than an hour, but for beginners it’s best to keep it short. 33 Between jokes, include transitions to help link one story to the next. You should conclude with a strong “closer”, one last joke that will leave your audience laughing.
Once you’ve created your set, it’s time to practice. You can perform in front of a mirror or record yourself and play it back. This will help you see how long your set is and where you might make change. Next, perform in front of a friend or family member who can help you see what people laugh at the most or tell you if any of your jokes are confusing. 35
When you’re ready to perform, remember to take a few deep breaths. Then relax, be yourself, and have fun!
A. Plan a performance
B. Perfect your routine
C. Take notes and make changes as necessary.
D. Open your set with a joke that will get your audience laughing.
E. It can easily meet with a favourable response from the audience.
F. Think about who your audience will be and what will be relatable to them.
G. Once you feel comfortable with your stand-up material, it’s time to perform!

Five misunderstandings about loneliness
At some point in our lives, the chances are that you and I will feel lonely. It’s a problem that’s getting a lot of attention. It’s an important topic and one that causes a lot of misery, but there are plenty of misunderstandings surrounding it.
Feeling lonely is not the same as being alone. Loneliness is a sense that no one around you really understands you and that you don’t have the kind of meaningful connections you would like. Sometimes we want to be alone. But if we don’t have the choice to spend time with people who understand us, that’s when loneliness strikes.
There’s an epidemic(流行) of loneliness at the moment.
Loneliness is undoubtedly getting more common. 22 It is true that the actual number of lonely people are rising simply because there are more people in the world.
Loneliness is always bad.
Loneliness hurts. But it shouldn’t be seen as entirely negative. 23 . Or it can be a sign to find a way of improving our existing relationships.
Loneliness leads to ill health.
24 But it could also happen the other way around. People could become isolated and lonely because they already have poor health, which stops them from socialising.
Most older people are lonely.
Loneliness is more common in old age than in other adults, but in her review of loneliness across the lifespan, Pamela Qualter found there is also a peak in teenage years. 25
A. Loneliness can be horrible.
B. Loneliness is all about isolation(孤立).
C. Instead, it can be the signal to us to look for new friends.
D. Generally speaking, it’s harder for old people to overcome loneliness.
E. But that doesn’t mean that a higher percentage of people feel lonely now.

Being honest may not get you a lot of friends, but it will get you the right ones. That’s true, so you should pursue authentic positivity in your friendships, the opposite of toxic (有毒的) positivity that would have you encouraging friends in all things, regardless of what you might feel or observe or know about the challenges of life. 31
1. Ask questions.
A feature of authentic positivity is a curious mindset, a mentality where you are less locked into “telling it like it is” and more interested in wondering and exploring the possibilities together with your friend. 32 If your friendship has a history of welcome advice-giving, your question could be “Are you looking for ideas, or do you just want me to listen ”
“That’s so disappointing” is sometimes the most positive thing you can say to your friend when they are struggling. Resisting the urge to say “It’s all going to work out; don’t worry” shows your friend that you see them in their pain, and that you are available to support them here and now. 34 You can use “yes/and” statements like “What happened at work is so frustrating—AND I know how creative you are, so you’ll find a way to move forward.”
3. Learn to apologize —and ask for an apology.
35 That includes you, too. Being authentic in a friendship means having the freedom to say to a friend, “I’m sorry I hurt you.” It also means being able to say, “Your words/ actions hurt me.” Friendships that stand the test of time have room for mistakes, and for repair.
A. Name hard truths.
B. Don’t disappoint your friend.
C. Every friend misses the mark sometimes.
D. Instead, friends should be authentic and positive.
E. Here are three ways to be an authentically positive friend.
F. But that doesn’t mean you need to focus on the negative all the time.
