Personal Forgiveness
Taking responsibility for mistakes is a positive step, but don’t beat yourself up about them. To err (犯错) is human. 16 You can use the following writing exercise to help you do this.
In a journal or on a piece of paper, put the heading “Personal strengths.” 17 Are you caring Creative Generous A good listener Fun to be around They don’t have to be world-changing, just aspects of your personality that you’re proud of.
At the top of a second page, put the heading “Acts of kindness.” On this one, list all the positive things you’ve done for others. It might be the time when you helped a friend with their homework, when you did the ironing without being asked, or when you baked cookies after the family had had a tiring day. 18
You could ask a friend or family member to help add to your list. 19 That way, you could exchange thoughts on what makes each of you special and the aspects of your personality that shine through. In fact, don’t wait until you’ve made a mistake to try this—it’s a great way to boost self-confidence at any time.

16.根据空前内容“Taking responsibility for mistakes is a positive step, but don’t beat yourself up about them. To err (犯错) is human.(为错误承担责任是积极的一步,但不要因此而自责。人孰能无过。)”可知,作者认为人都会犯错,勇于承担责任固然重要,但是也不要因此而过于自责。结合空后“You can use the following writing exercise to help you do this.(你可以使用下面的写作练习来帮助你做到这一点。)” D“It’s just as important to show yourself some forgiveness.(宽恕自己也同样重要。)”
17.根据空前内容“In a journal or on a piece of paper, put the heading “Personal strengths. ”(在日记或纸上写上“个人优点”。)”以及空后内容“Are you caring Creative Generous A good listener Fun to be around They don’t have to be world-changing, just aspects of your personality that you’re proud of.(你有爱心吗?有创造力吗?你慷慨吗?是一个好的倾听者?与人相处很有趣吗?它们不一定要改变世界,只要你个性中让你感到自豪的方面就行。)”可知,空处指的是列出一些你个性中的优点。选项B“Now list all the characteristics you like about yourself.(现在列出所有你喜欢的自己身上的特点。)”
18.根据上文内容“At the top of a second page, put the heading “Acts of kindness.” On this one, list all the positive things you’ve done for others. It might be the time when you helped a friend with their homework, when you did the ironing without being asked, or when you baked cookies after the family had had a tiring day.(在第二页的顶部,写上“善举”的标题。在这张单子上,列出你为别人做过的所有积极的事情。它可能是当你帮助朋友做作业的时候,当你没有被要求却主动熨衣服的时候,或者当你在家人累了一天之后烤饼干的时候。)”可知,本段主要讲述的是列出一些自己所做的好事。选项F“Whatever it is, no matter how small it might seem, write it down.(不管是什么,不管它看起来有多小,都要把它写下来。)”
19.根据空后内容“That way, you could exchange thoughts on what makes each of you special and the aspects of your personality that shine through.(这样,你们就可以交换意见,谈谈是什么让你们每个人都与众不同,以及你们个性中闪光的方面。)” C“They might even like to have a go at doing the exercise.(他们甚至可能想试一试做练习。)”符合语境,C项中的“they”与空前的“You could ask a friend or family member to help add to your list.(你可以让朋友或家人帮你增加你的列表内容。)”中的“a friend or family member”保持一致,同时选项C和下文“In fact, don’t wait until you’ve made a mistake to try this—it’s a great way to boost self-confidence at any time.(事实上,不要等到你犯了错误才去尝试这个——这是一个在任何时候都能增强自信的好方法。)”
20.根据空前内容“It’s something of a cliché (陈词滥调) that most people learn not from their successes but their mistakes. The thing is, it’s true.(大多数人不是从他们的成功中学习,而是从他们的错误中学习,这是陈词滥调。但事实是,这是真的。)”可知,作者认为人是从错误中学习。选项G“Whatever the mistake, remember it isn’t a fixed aspect of your personality.(不管你犯了什么错误,记住这不是你性格中固定的一面。)”符合语境,G项中的“isn’t a fixed aspect of your personality”和空后内容“We’ re all changing and learning all the time and mistakes are a positive way to develop and grow.(我们一直在改变和学习,错误是一种积极的发展和成长的方式。)”

As an artist who shares her journey on social media, I’m often asked by curious followers how to begin an art journey. Unfortunately, there is no magic list I can offer. I do remember, though, what it was like to be a complete beginner. So I’ve put together some good tips for starting an art journey.
Start small. I suggest using a sketchbook (素描本) for small studies. These small studies provide inspiration and may be a springboard for more complex works in the future. 16 You’ll want to look back on your journey to see how far you’ve come.
Paint often and paint from life. There’s no better way to improve than to put in those brush miles. Whether you paint still lifes, portraits, or landscapes, paint from life as much as possible. 17
Continually challenge yourself to try something new. 18 Artistic growth can be a bit painful. Welcome to the club;we’ve all been there. I love taking on challenges. I once took up a challenge to create a painting every day for a month and post the works online.
19 Seeking and accepting constructive feedback (反馈) is crucial to growth. I post my work on social media and, in turn, have met some of the kindest people. They make me feel valued and respected, no matter my level of artistic ability.
The journey you’re on won’t follow a straight path. 20 Push through, give it time and put in the effort. You will harvest the rewards of an artistic life.
A. Get out of your comfort zone.
B. Make career plans and set goals.
C. Don’t throw away your beginner art.
D. Share your work if you feel comfortable doing so.
E. You’ll hit roadblocks, and you’ll feel discouraged at times.
F. Evaluate your performance and, if needed, redefine your role.
G. You’ll develop that painting muscle memory that only comes with repetition.
C17. G18. A19. D20. E
I suggest using a sketchbook (素描本) for small studies. These small studies provide inspiration and may be a springboard for more complex works in the future. (从小开始。我建议使用一个素描本进行小规模的学习和实践。这些小的学习和实践可以提供灵感,并成为未来更复杂的作品的跳板)”以及后文“You’ll want to look back on your journey to see how far you’ve come. (你会想要回顾一下自己的艺术之旅,看看自己已经取得多少进步)”可知,空处应是一个过渡句,从给出建议使用一个素描本进行小规模的学习和实践,到回顾自己的艺术之旅,所以C项“Don’t throw away your beginner art. (不要扔掉你的初学时的艺术作品)”符合文意,和后文形成顺承关系。故选C项。
17.分析设空处,位于段尾,是对本段的总结,根据前文“Paint often and paint from life. There’s no better way to improve than to put in those brush miles. Whether you paint still lifes, portraits, or landscapes, paint from life as much as possible. (经常作画,且从生活中作画。没有什么比不断练习更能提高你的艺术水平了。无论你是绘制静物、肖像还是风景,都要尽可能地从真实生活中去观察和绘制)”可知,本段主要讲述不断练习绘画,所以G项“You’ll develop that painting muscle memory that only comes with repetition. (你会逐渐形成只有通过反复练习才能获得的绘画肌肉记忆)”是对前文的总结。故选G项。
18.分析设空处,空处位于第二句,此处应是对前一句的进一步解释,并同时引出后文,根据前文“Continually challenge yourself to try something new. (不断挑战自己,尝试新事物)”以及后文“Artistic growth can be a bit painful. (艺术的成长可能会有点痛苦)”可知,A项“Get out of your comfort zone. (走出你的舒适区)”是对前句的进一步说明,和后文构成顺承关系。故选A项。
19.分析设空处,位于段首,是本段的中心句,根据后文“Seeking and accepting constructive feedback (反馈) is crucial to growth. I post my work on social media and, in turn, have met some of the kindest people. They make me feel valued and respected, no matter my level of artistic ability. (寻求并接受有建设性的反馈对于你的成长非常重要。我在社交媒体上发布我的作品,并因此结识了一些最友好的人。无论我的艺术水平如何,他们都让我感到受到了重视和尊重)”可知,本段主要讲述了是分享自己的作品,所以D项“Share your work if you feel comfortable doing so. (如果你感觉舒适的话,分享你的作品)”符合文意,是本段的中心句。故选D项。
20.分析设空处,空处位于第二句,此处应是对前一句的进一步解释,并同时引出后文,根据前文“The journey you’re on won’t follow a straight path. (你的旅程不会是一条笔直的道路)”以及后文“Push through, give it time and put in the effort. You will harvest the rewards of an artistic life. (坚持下去,给它时间,付出努力。你将收获艺术生活的回报)”可知,E项“You’ll hit roadblocks, and you’ll feel discouraged at times. (你会遇到障碍,有时你会感到气馁)”是对前句的进一步说明,和后文构成顺承关系。故选E项。

阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Fitness Magazine recently ran an article titled “Five Reasons to Thank Your Workout Partner.” One reason was: “You’ll actually show up if you know someone is waiting for you at the gym, ” while another read: “ 36 ” With a workout partner, you will increase your training effort as there is a subtle (微妙) competition.
So, how do you find a workout partner
First of all, decide what you want from that person. 37 Or do you just want to be physically fit, able to move with strength and flexibility Think about the exercises you would like to do with your workout partner.
You might think about posting what you are looking for on social media, but it probably won’t result in a useful response. 38 If you plan on working out in a gym, that person must belong to the same gym.
My partner posted her request on the notice board of a local park. Her notice included what kind of training she wanted to do, how many days a week and how many hours she wanted to spend on each session, and her age. It also listed her favorite sports and activities, and provided her phone number. 39
You and your partner will probably have different skills. 40 Over time, both of you will benefit — your partner will be able to lift more weights and you will become more physically fit. The core (核心) of your relationship is that you will always be there to help each other.
A. Your first meeting may be a little awkward.
B. A workout partner usually needs to live close by.
C. You’ll work harder if you train with someone else.
D. Do you want to be a better athlete in your favorite sport
E. How can you write a good “seeking training partner” notice
F. Just accept your differences and learn to work with each other.
G. Any notice for a training partner should include such information.
C37. D38. B39. G40. F
36. C。根据前文“Fitness Magazine recently ran an article titled “Five Reasons to Thank Your Workout Partne.” One reason was: “You’ll actually show up if you know someone is waiting for you at the gym,”(《健身杂志》最近刊登了一篇题为《感谢健身伙伴的五个理由》的文章。一个理由是:“如果你知道有人在健身房等你,你就会去锻炼。”)”可知,这里陈述另一个和别人一起锻炼的理由。所以选择项C“You'll work harder if you train with someone else.(如果你和别人一起训练,你会更努力。)”
37. D。根据前文“First of all, decide what you want from that person. (首先,决定你想从那个人身上得到什么。)”和后文“Or do you just want to be physically fit, able to move with strength and flexibility (或者你只是想要身体健康,能够移动的力量和灵活性 )”可知,这里是一个问句,反问自己结伴锻炼的目的。 D“Do you want to be a better athlete in your favorite sport (你想在你最喜欢的运动项目上成为更好的运动员吗 )”符合上下文语境。故选D。
38. B。根据前文“You might think about posting what you are looking for on social media, but probably won't result in a useful response. (你可能会考虑在社交媒体上发布你想要的东西,但可能不会得到有用的回应。)”和后文“If you plan on working out in a gym, that person must belong to the same gym.(如果你打算在健身房锻炼,那个人一定是同一个健身房的。)” B“A workout partner usually needs to live close by. (锻炼伙伴通常需要住在附近。)”符合上下文语境。故选B。
39. G。根据前文“My partner posted her request on the notice board of a local park. Her notice included what kind of training she wanted to do, how many days a week and how many hours she wanted to spend on each session, and her age. It also listed her favorite sports and activities, and provided her phone number. (我的搭档把她的要求贴在了当地公园的布告栏上。她的注意事项包括她想要做什么样的锻炼,每周多少天,每次培训要花多少小时,以及她的年龄。它还列出了她最喜欢的运动和活动,并提供了她的电话号码。)”可知,本段作者以自己的锻炼伙伴为例,说明寻找锻炼伙伴布告所要包括的信息。所以选择项G“Any notice for a training partner should include such information. (任何锻炼伙伴的布告都应包括这些信息。)”符合上下文语境。故选G。
40. F。根据前文“You and your partner will probably have different skills. (你和你的伴侣可能有不同的技能。)”和后文“Over time, both of you will benefit -- your partner will be able to lift more weights and you will become more physically fit.(久而久之,你们双方都会受益——你的伴侣会举起更多的重量,你也会变得更健康。)” F“Just accept your differences and learn to work with each other. (接受你们的不同,学会彼此合作。)”符合上下文语境。故选F。
T4(2022新高考II卷)
Writing an essay is a difficult process for most people. However, the process can be made easier if you learn to practice three simple techniques.
36 When you are first trying to think of ideas for an essay, put your pen to your paper and write nonstop for ten or fifteen minutes without letting your pen leave the paper. Stay loose and free. 37 Don’t worry about grammar or spelling. Even though this technique won’t work for everyone, it helps many people get a good store of ideas to draw on.
The next technique is to write your draft rapidly without worrying about being perfect. 38 Yet, by learning to live with imperfection, you will save yourself headaches and a wastepaper basket full of crumpled (弄皱) paper. Think of your first draft as a path cut out of the jungle—as part of an exploration, not as a complete highway.
The third technique is to try printing out a triple—spaced (三倍行距) copy to allow space for revision. 39 As a result, these writers never get in the habit of crossing out chunks (大块) of their draft and writing revisions in the blank space. After you have revised your draft until it is too messy to work from anymore, you can enter your changes into your word processor. 40 The resulting blank space invites you to revise.
A. Make sure your handwriting is neat.
B. Let your pen follow the waves of thought.
C. The second draft of the essay should be better.
D. First of all, learn the technique of nonstop writing.
E. Too many writers try to get their drafts right the first time.
F. Many beginning writers don’t leave enough space to revise.
G. Then you can print out a fresh draft, again setting your text on triple-space.
D 37. B 38. E 39. F 40. G
36. D。空格处是本段的主题句,由空后的“When you are first trying to think of ideas for an essay, put your pen to your paper and write nonstop for ten or fifteen minutes without letting your pen leave the paper.(当你第一次想写一篇文章的时候,把笔放在纸上,不间断地写10到15分钟,不要让笔离开纸。)”可知,本段主要讲的是要学会不间断地写,D选项“First of all, learn the technique of nonstop writing.(首先,学习不间断写作的技巧。)”
,空后说“Don’t worry about grammar or spelling.(不要担心语法和拼写。)”,因此空格处应说按心里想的写,自由发挥,B选项“Let your pen follow the waves of thought.(让你的笔跟随思想的波浪。)”
38. E。空前说“The next technique is to write your draft rapidly without worrying about being perfect.(下一个技巧是快速写草稿,不要担心是否完美。)”,空后说“Yet, by learning to live with imperfection, you will save yourself headaches and a wastepaper basket full of crumpled (弄皱) paper.(然而,通过学习与不完美共存,你将避免自己的头痛和一个装满皱巴巴的废纸篓。)”,E选项“Too many writers try to get their drafts right the first time.(太多的作家试图在第一次就把草稿写好。)”
39. F。空前说“The third technique is to try printing out a triple—spaced (三倍行距) copy to allow space for revision.(第三种方法是打印出三倍行距的副本,以便有修改的空间。)”
40. G。空前说“After you have revised your draft until it is too messy to work from anymore, you can enter your changes into your word processor.(当你修改你的草稿,直到它太乱以至于无法继续工作,你可以把你的修改输入到你的文字处理器中。)”,空后说“The resulting blank space invites you to revise.(由此产生的空白允许您修改。)”,因此空格处应说输入到文字处理器后应该做什么,G选项“Then you can print out a fresh draft, again setting your text on triple-space.(然后你可以打印一份新的草稿,同样将文本设置为三倍行距。)”
T5(2021新高考I卷)
My husband and I just spent a week in Paris. 36 So the first thing we did was rent a fantastically expensive sixth-floor apartment the size of a cupboard. It was so tiny that we had to leave our suitcases in the hallway.
The place wasn’t entirely authentic, though. Unlike a normal Parisian apartment, the plumbing (水管) worked. 37 Our building even had a tiny lift with a female voice that said, “Ouverture des portes,” in perfect French. That is the only French phrase I mastered, and it’s a shame I don’t have much use for it.
Parisians are different from you and me. They never look lazy or untidy. As someone noted in this paper a couple of weeks ago, they eat great food and never gain weight. 38 French strawberries do not taste like cardboard. Instead, they explode in your mouth like little flavor bombs.
39 On our first morning in Paris, I went around the corner to the food market to pick up some groceries. I bought a handful of perfectly ripe small strawberries and a little sweet melon. My husband and I agreed they were the best fruit we had ever eaten. But they cost $18!
In France, quality of life is much more important than efficiency (效率). You can tell this by café life. French cafés are always crowded. 40 When do these people work The French take their 35-hour workweek seriously — so seriously that some labor unions recently struck a deal with a group of companies limiting the number of hours that independent contractors can be on call.
A. Not all the customers are tourists.
B. The quality of life in France is equally excellent.
C. There was a nice kitchen and a comfortable bed.
D. The amazing food is mainly consumed by local farmers.
E. That’s not the only reason the French eat less than we do.
F. Our aim was to see if we could live, in some way, like real Parisians.
G. The food is so delicious that you don’t need much of it to make you happy.
36.下文“So the first thing we did was rent a fantastically expensive sixth-floor apartment the size of a cupboard.(所以我们做的第一件事就是租了一个非常昂贵公寓,在第六层,只有一个橱柜那么大)”说明作者和丈夫采取行动,租了昂贵的公寓,F项“我们的目标是看看我们是否在某种程度上能像真正的巴黎人那样生活。”
38.下文“French strawberries do not taste like cardboard. Instead, they explode in your mouth like little flavor bombs.(法国草莓尝起来不像纸板。相反,它们会像小炸弹一样在你嘴里爆炸)”说明法国的草莓很美味,G项中delicious是关键词,G项“食物是如此美味,你不需要吃太多就能使你快乐”引出下文,符合题意。故选G项。
39.下文“My husband and I agreed they were the best fruit we had ever eaten. But they cost $18!(我丈夫和我都认为这是我们吃过的最好的水果。但它们要18美元!)”说明法国的水果好吃但是很贵,E项“这并不是法国人吃得比我们少的唯一原因”承接上文法国人吃的少但是不胖的话题,并引出下文,说明法国人吃的少的另一个原因“物价昂贵”。故选E项。
40.上文“In France, quality of life is much more important than efficiency (效率). You can tell this by cafés life. French cafés are always crowded. (在法国生活质量比效率更重要。这一点你能从咖啡馆生活看出来。法国的咖啡厅总是很拥挤)”说明了法国人会去咖啡馆,认为生活质量比效率更重要,以及下文“When do these people work (这些人什么时候工作?)”说明咖啡馆中的顾客有法国人,A项中customer符合咖啡馆的情境设定,A项“并不是所有的顾客都是游客。”承上启下,符合题意。故选A项。

If the only reading you ever do is the novel or magazine, the speed at which you read -probably does not matter very much. But if you have to read a great deal for study, you will appreciate the benefits of being able to read more quickly. 36
·Before you open the book, make sure that you are comfortable. You need a seat which supports your back and the book should be at the right distance from your eyes. 37
38 Look at the table of contents, the preface, the chapter heading, etc. This will help you to decide whether you really need to read the whole book or only certain parts of it. Ten minutes spent in this way could save you quite a lot of time in the long run.
If you decide that you need to read the whole book, decide how much you can read at a time. 39 A history book which may contain the facts in story form will be easier to read than one dealing with scientific subjects. In the former case you may be able to read a chapter. In the latter you may only be able to read one page.
Always keep a pencil and paper beside you. 40 Note also the facts important for your purpose as well as anything which leads you to further research. You don't have to write these things in detail. It is enough to put the page number and one or two words as a reminder.
A. Stop to have a rest now and then.
B. Spend a few minutes looking through the book.
C. This depends on the type of book you are reading.

Adaptations are currently popular in the movie industry. We’re all familiar with film adaptations of books. 1 Book adaptations of films aren’t that common, but it’s a medium that certainly takes skills to master.
The most well-known version of a film being adapted to books is via the novelisation (小说化). Movie novelisations went through a boom period before the internet era. Fans wanted to know more about the fictional worlds and experience the story again in a new way. 2 Thus, the novelisation was a great solution.
Meanwhile, the screen to page process has also opened up the possibility of sequels (续篇). Perhaps there simply wasn’t financial investment to create a follow-up to a film. Maybe a sequel idea simply felt more appropriate for a novel. 3 In recent years for example, the film Heat, released in 1995 has received its own novel. ET: The Book of the Green Planet continued the extra-terrestrial’s journey after the completion of the film’s narrative.
But what are the benefits of reading a novel instead of waiting for the big screen version Well, a novel can take its reader deeper into the mind of the characters that the film had to represent in a more visual way. 4 Although a film might characterize a fantastic scene or a specific costume choice, it doesn’t always tell why those things are important. Novelisations and sequels can take that extra step and shine a light on some of those movie-making choices.
Book adaptations of films obviously won’t ever replace cinema, and there’s no need to choose one or the other. 5
A.But what about book adaptations of films
B.Besides, descriptions can be more detailed too.
C.For a time, they were everything for cinema lovers.
D.Films being adapted to books has been talked repeatedly.
E.But they couldn’t simply google it, or immediately purchase the production on tape.
F.Regardless, some terrific films have been expanded upon thanks to this medium.
G.Actually, these two mediums are considerably interdependent and complementary.

When the sun goes down in the evening and you are sitting outside at home, you may not be able to see many flowers in the yard without artificial lighting. 6 . That is the one you can enjoy by the light of the moon.
7
The plants with silver or multi-colored leaves, white or light-colored flowers, or flowers that open only at night are good choices for a moon garden. Another way to enjoy plants in the evening is to choose ones with a pleasing smell. Plant them along a walkway or near a seating area outdoors, where you can enjoy them up close, or within view of a window.
Select plants depending on season or temperature
You can begin the garden early with early bloomers, like lily of the valley. Make the season last longer into the autumn with late bloomers like chrysanthemum. In very warm places, try planting frangipani to fill your evenings with pleasure. 8 .
Group your plants together
For the best visual effect, plant in groups of three, five or seven of the same kind of plant. That is a good gardening method in general because it avoids creating a disorganized mixture of plants and flowers. But it is more important in a moon garden. 9 .
Add some small lights
There is one more thing to increase how much you can see your moon garden—add some small lights that face the plants. 10 . Think about using other light-colored design elements as well, such as fencing, plant supports, stones, water features and glass balls.
A.Insects that visit flowers at night love them
B.Plant some plants that show well in moonlight
C.They will increase the appeal of your moon garden
D.However, with some planning, you can have a moon garden
E.You certainly don’t want your single plants to get lost in the dark

For most, the first thing that likely comes to mind when thinking about vitamin C is either an image of orange fruits or its ability to keep your immune system healthy. 11 . Here are the primary benefits of vitamin C when applied topically to the skin.
It protects skin cells from environmental damage. Vitamin C’s main function in skin is that of a powerful antioxidant, protecting us from cell damage caused by free radicals (自由基). “ 12 ,” Dr. Mack explains, and they are highly reactive. Vitamin C destroys these free radicals by donating electrons, preventing them from damaging skin.
13 . Vitamin C is also one of the gold standards for evening skin tone and boosting radiance. “Vitamin C is a well-known skin brightener, preventing melanin production and eventually fading dark spots, resulting in a better skin tone,” Dr. Mack explains.
It firms skin and promotes collagen (胶原蛋白) production. Our skin is made of collagen and elastin, which are proteins that give it structure and flexibility. 14 . “Daily application of vitamin C helps to maintain the completeness of the collagen that we have, prevents rapid breakdown with age and promotes collagen production,” Dr. Mack says.
It works with other antioxidants for enhancing UV (紫外线) protection. 15 . A study in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology showed that the combination of vitamin C and E not only offered improved stability of vitamins C and E, but also improved skin’s UV protection.
A.It brightens skin
B.It helps lower the risk of heart disease and depression
C.Vitamin C works cooperatively with vitamin E to reduce UV damage in skin

Throughout my childhood, I listened to adults repeatedly describe children as self- centered. They only focused on themselves. 16 I’d like to speak from my personal experience. I founded the non-profit Colorbreak in 2019 when I was in 8th grade with the mission of kids helping kids. I came up with the idea when my little brother Jason, who was 11 years old, got a serious disease. He was treated at SickKids hospital and they took such good care of him that I wanted to help other kids who were suffering, the way SickKids helped my brother. Colorbreak is an organization entirely run by youth —from its leadership to its volunteers. 17
There are so many reasons why students should volunteer. Volunteering creates a brighter future because it provides vital assistance to worthy causes and people in need. 18 For example, volunteering helps kids build empathy (共情), as they give their time and care to help someone who is in need of help. And while volunteering, you may meet new people and talking with a stranger who shares your interests and is working for the same cause may turn into a pleasant experience. Bringing existing friends along on a project can be a fun way to bond with them. 19
Volunteering fosters the development of young people all over the world by encouraging them to connect, communicate, and make plans to help their communities. Getting involved early and often can show firsthand just how much volunteering matters. 20 You can volunteer at your local library, an animal shelter, a community center, and more!
A.Well, I disagree with that.
B.The possibilities are endless.
C.What are the causes of the phenomenon
D.There are also many benefits to the volunteers themselves.
E.Thus committing to a shared activity increases your sense of happiness.
F.Volunteering also helps to form a friendship between volunteers and those in need.
G.I’m amazed by the students I work with who feel passionate about making a difference.

Mental Health Crisis Among Teens Demands a New Approach
Since a survey showing alarmingly high rates of sadness and depressive thoughts among teens was released by the CDC last month, fingers have been pointed from two sides at the causes of this crisis. 21 Others say that today’s more secular (世俗的) culture has confused our most vulnerable young people. But neither side seems to grasp the true urgency of the issue.
According to the CDC’s findings, more than one in five of the 17,000 high school students surveyed reported mental breakdown. 22 It’s time to stop blaming and turn our attention to this generation of struggling teenagers.
Parents as well as teachers and others who have direct contact with children must accept this preventive approach. It is crucial that they not be afraid to ask direct questions about depressive thoughts. 23 It is also especially important that parents understand what help is available to their children.
24 For example, we can demand equity and equality, which means insurance coverage for behavioral illnesses health issues that is for physical, thus reducing the financial burden. We can also urge our congressmen to fund health programs and expand mental health professions. 25 Put the politics aside. There are lives in the balance.
A.It’s time for those who have the power to amplify (放大) their voices and drive changes to focus on helping teenagers and families access the help they need.
B.And they should resist the false idea that raising a question creates a risk that was not there before.
C.This means that we must put aside our disagreements and approach this issue as a matter of life and death.
D.At the macro (宏观的) level, our country can do so much more to help people struggling with mental health problems and their families.
E.Their rates of sadness and hopelessness are the highest in a decade, reflecting an increasing trend worsened by society’s isolation and stress.
F.Some have argued that the climate issue has created an existential threat and accompanying anxiety.
G.Hospitalization may also be appropriate when the person in question shows an immediate danger to themselves.

Which is more important for people, book learning or experience Some have spent their lives studying and gradually acquiring valuable deep knowledge. They are afraid to start and do something wrong. 26 They quickly start doing something using learning beyond the book, make mistakes, and learn from this experience.
The debate between book learning and experience has been going on for a long time. There is no clear “right answer” yet, but there is strong evidence that experience gives us important skills that can’t be learned in books.
27 Of course, reading the best books on learning gives someone knowledge, but experience gives know-how. It comes from practicing again and again. Professionals can make themselves because they devote their work, practice, and time to obtaining this position instead of managing to read books only. This distinguishes them from all the others.
Reading more books about something doesn’t lead to success. You can acquire a lot of knowledge by reading, but there are also ways to accumulate knowledge through experience. Knowledge is theoretical, but experience is distinguished by the fact that you can put into practice what you have learned in a book. 28
Book learning to understand a concept is important. But if you can’t understand the application of the concept in real time, the concept is useless. Experience allows you to put the learned concepts into practice. 29 You can’t effectively learn important skills without applying these concepts to real life.
Certainly, the experience can lead to failure. But you can also learn from that failure and lead to success. 30 Therefore, experience is your greatest ally(盟友) in professional development if you want to understand the theory behind the concept, become an expert in this field, keep the technique in mind, and gain valuable insights through failure.
A.In contrast, others don’t worry about anything.
B.You can learn a lot from books on self-learning.
C.Of course, with these concepts, experience is acquired.
D.This is valuable knowledge that is not found in any book.
E.It is also an opportunity to test and challenge your knowledge.
F.Through experience, you can also learn how to interact with people.
G.Neither scientists nor doctors have read books only and become experts.
【答案】26.A 27.G 28.E 29.B 30.D
26.根据上句“They are afraid to start and do something wrong. (他们害怕开始和害怕做错事)”以及后句“They quickly start doing something using learning beyond the book, make mistakes, and learn from this experience. (他们很快开始使用书本以外的知识来做一些事情,犯错误,并从这些经验中学习。)”设空处承上启下,对两种人对书本知识或经验的态度进行比较。A项:In contrast, others don’t worry about anything.(相比之下,其他人什么都不担心)合乎题意。故选A。
27.根据后句“Of course, reading the best books on learning gives someone knowledge, but experience gives know-how. (当然,阅读最好的书籍会给人知识,但经验会给人诀窍。)”说明经验和读书相比经验的好处,可知,设空处和后句but构成转折关系,应为读书和经验都很重要。G项:Neither scientists nor doctors have read books only and become experts.(科学家和医生都不是光读书就成为专家的)合乎题意。故选G。
28.根据上句“Knowledge is theoretical, but experience is distinguished by the fact that you can put into practice what you have learned in a book. (知识是理论的,而经验的区别在于你能将书本上所学付诸实践。)”设空处承接上句,说明经验的好处。E项:It is also an opportunity to test and challenge your knowledge.(这也是一个测试和挑战你知识的机会。)
29.根据上句“Experience allows you to put the learned concepts into practice(经验能让你把学到的概念付诸实践)”以及后句“You can’t effectively learn important skills without applying these concepts to real life. (如果不把这些概念应用到现实生活中,你就无法有效地学习重要的技能。)”设空处承接上句,说明书本可以学到的东西,B项:You can learn a lot from books on self-learning.(你可以从自学的书中学到很多东西)和后句形成对应的关系,说明如果不把书本上的这些概念应用到现实生活中,就无法有效地学习重要的技能。故选B。
30.根据上句“But you can also learn from that failure and lead to success (但你也可以从失败中吸取教训,走向成功)”设空处承接上句,说明从失败中吸取教训是不能从书本上学到的。D项:This is valuable knowledge that is not found in any book.(这是在任何书中都找不到的宝贵知识。)

Robots used to be found only in science fiction. In the 1960s, the animated space-age family the Jetsons had a robotic maid who could do household chores. In real life robots function in many manufacturing and household situations. In the filed of medicine, robot patients help train doctors and nurses by pretending they have a variety of health conditions. 31
The global pandemic and resulting economic crisis have created a lack of restaurant workers. Since restaurants don’t have enough workers, the remaining staff must work harder. Regardless, customers face longer wait times, fewer menu choices and higher prices. 32 These robots are not exactly modeled after Rosey, the Jetsons’ robotic household servant, but they are pretty clever (and very cute).
33 Many have a design that looks like a rolling cart. One model named Bella even has a cute cat-like face. Many are fairly short and shaped like R2D2 of Star Wars fame. They are designed to deliver dishes to regular customers in a restaurant. 34 They can not only deliver delicious food to performing repetitive tasks, however many there are. They can not only deliver delicious food to hungry customers, but also get back dirty dishes at the end of the meal.
35 Concerning the price, a server robot costs from a few thousand to several thousand dollars. Regarding safety, special sensors on the robots keep them from crashing into customers. Because there aren’t enough restaurant workers, filling positions with these robotic servers is a no-brainer. Don’t be surprised if you see one rolling up to your table soon.
A.Server robots come in several different varieties.
B.Now robots are finding a home in the food service industry.
C.Workers are afraid of being replaced by robots in the future.
D.They are also just the right height for customers to easily reach them.
E.Robots are playing an important role in almost everywhere nowadays.
F.Perhaps you’re wondering about issues such as the cost and safety factors.
G.Some founders are lending a hand — a robotic hand — in the form of server robots.
【答案】31.B 32.G 33.A 34.D 35.F
31.前文“In real life robots function in many manufacturing and household situations. In the filed of medicine, robot patients help train doctors and nurses by pretending they have a variety of health conditions. (在现实生活中,机器人在许多制造和家庭情境中发挥作用。在医学领域,机器人病人通过假装自己有各种健康状况来帮助培训医生和护士)”介绍机器人在现实世界的广泛应用,提到各种应用领域,因此B项“Now robots are finding a home in the food service industry. (现在,机器人在食品服务行业找到了自己的家)”符合语境,介绍机器人在食品服务领域的应用,承接前文。故选B。
32.前文“Since restaurants don’t have enough workers, the remaining staff must work harder. Regardless, customers face longer wait times, fewer menu choices and higher prices. (由于餐馆没有足够的员工,剩下的员工必须更加努力地工作。无论如何,顾客都要面临更长的等待时间、更少的菜单选择和更高的价格)”说明餐馆因为员工短缺而面临的问题,后文“These robots are not exactly modeled after Rosey, the Jetsons’ robotic household servant, but they are pretty clever (and very cute). (这些机器人并不是完全模仿杰森一家的机器人佣人罗西,但它们相当聪明(也非常可爱))”描述一类机器人的情况,因此G项“Some founders are lending a hand — a robotic hand — in the form of server robots. (一些创始人正以机器人服务员的形式伸出援手——一只机器人手)”符合语境,说明机器人服务员在帮助解决问题,承接前文,引出后面的描述,其中的server robots是后文These robots所指的对象。故选G。
33.空处位于段首,需引出段落内容。后文“Many have a design that looks like a rolling cart. One model named Bella even has a cute cat-like face. (许多设计得看起来像一个滚动的车。一位名叫贝拉的模型甚至有一张可爱的猫脸)”具体介绍机器人的外观,因此A项“Server robots come in several different varieties. (机器人服务员有几种不同的类型)”符合语境,说明机器人有不同类型,契合后文内容。故选A。
34.前文“Many are fairly short and shaped like R2D2 of Star Wars fame. They are designed to deliver dishes to regular customers in a restaurant. (许多都很矮,形状像《星球大战》中的R2D2。它们的设计目的是为餐馆的常客送餐)”具体介绍像R2D2的一类机器人的特点和功能,因此D项“They are also just the right height for customers to easily reach them. (它们的高度也正好适合顾客轻松够到)”符合语境,说明2024年新高考英语二轮复习【培优小题狂练】

D. Here are some tips to help improve your reading speed.
E. Make a note of any page which is of special importance.
F. You may find yourself having to learn something by heart.

D. When it comes to public speaking, less is usually more.

F.Find the plants that work best in your climate by talking with a local expert

D.Free radicals are produced by the body when exposed to radiation in sunlight
E.But this popular vitamin has several benefits for skin when applied topically, too
F.Free radicals are believed to be related to heart disease, cancer and the ageing process
G.As we age, the production of these proteins decreases and our skin looks and feels less firm

Rock climbing is the kind of sport you either love or you’re simply not interested in. For those who love it, there is great personal satisfaction. 36 It is a physical workout that requires strength, coordination, and perseverance. Regular climbing (2 or more times per week) can improve cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, and flexibility. Mentally, you must confront (正视) your fears both of injuries and of heights and make good decisions because your life depends upon it.
37 You must be in good health and above average physical condition to go rock climbing, more so if you do this outdoors. You need to be flexible and agile (敏捷的), since climbing skills involve stretching, bending, and precise body positioning. And you must have the strength to hold yourself up by your arms and hands or even just your fingers.
You don’t have to climb Mount Qomolangma to enjoy the sport of rock climbing.
38 Some of these include traditional climbing, free solo climbing, ice climbing and indoor climbing.
If you think you may be interested in rock climbing, start by reading books or rock climbing publications. 39 Others have essays written by climbers that can give you a feel for this sport. Publications are good sources of gear advice and reviews, technique and training tips, and rock climbing destinations.
If you’re passionate about rock climbing, you’ll want to find others who share your love of this sport. Ask about groups or clubs at a local rock climbing gym or search the Internet. 40

Have you ever wondered about the significance of emotions in our life Emotions play a critical part in our lives. 41 Let me give you an example here: When you are with your loved ones, your mood changes instantly right If they feel happy then you feel happy, and if they feel angry/sad then so do you. Starting to get what I was talking about in the beginning Should you be feeling like that In certain situations, yes, but every time, no!
You may find it very hard to believe but it is not our responsibility to bear other people’s feelings, this is something that they have to do themselves. 42 Apart from this, we must never be controlled by our own feelings. Let me give you an example here. In the middle of a fight between your spouse or partner, they will say, “You really hurt my feelings”. Sometimes, you might even say: “You are making me angry”. What does this imply 43 Whenever this happens, you start blaming yourself, especially for the emotions that others are feeling. This is known as emotional reflection. You must learn to control this. 44
What should be your course of action here It might seem rude when I say this but you really need to hear it. You are not responsible for how others feel! 45 Al l in all, we must learn to be emotionally accountable and mature, doing so will result in a better and happier life.
A.Therefore embrace your emotions as a part of yourself.
B.They are infectious unless you know how to control them.
C.So, it’s a must for us to learn to control our feelings.
D.You have conveyed your feelings in a very understandable manner.
E.This goes sideways, others are also not accountable for how you feel.
F.It means that you have allowed the other person to emotionally control you.
G.Otherwise, it will create co-dependency in relationships which is very harmful.

Review Our Worries
We spend a lot of our lives worrying, but there’s one basic thing we almost never remember to do. 46 For example, one week, we might be worried about running out of money, the next of having offended a friend, and the third about being brought down by a rumour on social media. The worries go on and on, shifting unstoppably from one target to another. 47
What we seldom spend time doing is pausing to compare the scale of the worry with what actually happened in the end. We are too taken up with the next worry to return for a composed review.
However, if we force ourselves to perform one, a strange discovery is likely to dawn on us. 48 We almost lost our minds to worry, but we didn’t run out of money in the end, our friend wasn’t offended, and so on. 49 Mark Twain’s famous saying comes to mind: “I have lived through many disasters, only a few of which actually happened.”
50 If we got it so wrong in the past, we’re highly likely to get it wrong now too. Of course, we’re convinced that this is really and truly the end, but such a certainty was with us on many other situations which we appear to have sailed through well enough.
Perhaps the world is not quite as awful as we assume. Perhaps most of the drama is ultimately unfolding in a place we need to explore and heal as fast as we can: our own minds.
A.Our worries are nearly always out of line with reality.
B.They ruin our precious time on Earth in the process.
C.Ignore our worries and focus on more productive things.
D.Go back and check how our worries matched up to reality.
E.We might say that only 1% of our worries truly become awful.
F.Our worries are caused by external factors beyond our control.
G.We should use the data about the unreliability of our fears as a guide to the future.

Anxiety is a sense of worry, fear, or unease which might make your hands sweat or your heart race. It’s a normal response to stressful situations. 56 Or going on a date. Or performing in a concert.
A bit of anxiety can work up your energy and focus. 57 Feeling anxious about an upcoming test, for example, can push you to study. Techniques like deep breathing can help you power through the unpleasantness of anxiety.
But for some people, anxiety can become too much to bear. They might have frequent, intense fears about everyday situations. Or they might feel worried or afraid for no reason at all. If this high level of anxiety lasts long, it can make it hard to focus or fall asleep, bringing about health problems. 58
59 People with social anxiety have intense fears of being judged by others. People with phobias(恐惧症), meanwhile, are very afraid of things that do not pose much real danger, such as spiders or heights. And people with panic disorder experience panic attacks in the absence of any real danger. Other examples of anxiety disorders include obsessive-compulsive(强迫性的) disorder and post-traumatic(创伤后的) stress disorder.
Anxiety disorders are common. An estimated one-third of all U.S. teens have experienced one. And there are many factors that may heighten someone’s risk of developing an anxiety disorder. Reading is not just an important professional skill. 66 Like any skill worth mastering, a reading habit requires time and dedication to develop. It is, however, a lifelong source of enjoyment and entertainment and an affordable hobby for anyone who wants to pick up a book.
Improve your reading skills.
In order to build your reading habit and enjoy your reading to the fullest, begin practicing good reading skills. For example: read for content, look up unfamiliar words, learn to appreciate context and become familiar with literary devices. Reading for learning and enjoyment is never a quick run. 67
Find ways to connect reading to your everyday life.
68 You can join book clubs. These usually meet weekly or bi-monthly and are a good way of motivating you to read and also meeting people who are also committed to good reading habits. Book clubs also give you chances to talk about what you read and the benefit of talking to multiple intelligent and interested readers.
69
A basketball player can’t practice if she doesn’t have her ball and sneakers ready. Reading is the same as any other skill. Try to get subscriptions. Trade or special interest magazines are a good way of keeping current reading material nearby. 70 Barnes and Noble, as well as Amazon, have e-Readers and a substantial selection of digital books for sale or loan. Libraries often offer free e-book loans, too.

B.Keep reading materials handy.
C.Also, you can consider to be an e-Reader.
D.Instead, take your time, nurture your skills at your own pace.
E.Set aside regular time to enjoy your spot and always bring along your current reading.

Have you ever started a workout, but then felt exhausted Here are my thoughts on how to learn to listen to your body and enjoy exercise in a healthy way.
Check before you stretch yourself. The busy schedules make us seldom take the time to notice how we feel or if our plans are in-line with what we need. Do a mindful check to get in touch with your body and mind 71 Noticing how you feel, you can move forward in choosing a suitable workout.
72 .I love hard workouts, but I don’t do high-intensity workouts every day. In fact, I usually let my energy and body awareness tell how hard I work. I take that as a sign that I need to go easier that day, such as slowing down or focusing on recovery 73 because sometimes doing less brings you more joy,
Give it 20 minutes. If you are not sure whether to start a formal workout, give it a 20- minute shot. Start slow and case into it. Sometimes it can turn you from a sleepyhead to an energizer bunny, but sometimes it doesn’ t work that way. Maybe you will feel good after exercising longer 74 .
Be a conscious consumer. Get away from those “motivational” quotes that tell you “Unless you pass out, keep going” 75 , and will end up hurting you mentally or physically. If an instructor makes you feel pressured to push, it ‘s probably not a healthy source of fitness support.
A.Do less if you feel tired
B.Don’t do strength training
C.Give it a shot to awaken your body first
D.That’s not motivating but body shaming
E.You should listen to your body if it’s telling you to stop
F.Find out where you might store stress, tension or emotion
G.Tracking time you spend daily allows you to make fitness a habit

The Habits of Recovering Procrastinators(拖延者)
We all procrastinate (拖延) occasionally. Procrastination can be defined as delaying a project, a task or an intended course of action, despite expecting to feel the guilt or shame of the delay. I have developed some habits that will allow you to live in the present, be much more productive and remove the procrastination that no longer serves you.
Manage yourself in Time. Becoming a recovering procrastinator requires developing a much greater sense of time — one hour, one day, one week, one month, one year. 76
You then gain a better understanding of how to manage your time effectively and make steady progress towards your goals.
Set small goals. 77 They desire to have a half-a-million-dollar year in their first year as a business owner or to make a remarkable leap from a high-school actor to winning an Oscar. Instead, what typically happens is that they fall apart emotionally. Those breakdowns lessen the emotional energy necessary to progress toward their goals.
78 If you tend to procrastinate, keeping an organized list helps you develop much more focus. By actively committing your tasks to writing, you break free from the aimless spinning and equip yourself to overcome procrastination.
Rank tasks by importance. Develop the habit of organizing your tasks based on their significance. 79 This way, you’ll prevent yourself from getting overwhelmed and ensure that essential work gets done.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. Overcoming procrastination is a journey filled with ups and downs. 80 Remember to be kind and patient with yourself along the way. You’ve got this, and I believe in you.
A.Document your tasks and thoughts.
B.It’s common for procrastinators to aim high.
C.You can establish a daily or weekly timetable.
D.Overcome procrastination with organized focus.
E.Identify the most critical ones and tackle them first.
F.This is breaking down tasks into manageable time frames.
G.You’ll encounter roadblocks and experience moments of frustration.

Reversal—change your perspective and solve your problem
It’s often your definition of a problem that limits you in finding a suitable solution. Creative solutions require a change of perspective. 81
The reversal technique is a creative thinking technique that is based on the thought that to change your perspective, you sometimes need to change the order of the words in your problem definition.
How you change the order of the words doesn’t matter much, as long as the key words are reversed. 82 Your challenge is “How do we make sure that fewer people take cars to their work ”. Swapping (交换) the key words, you could rephrase this challenge as “How do we make sure that fewer cars take people to their work ”.
Not every problem statement is suitable for a reversal. Sometimes using this technique requires you to first rephrase the question altogether. 83 For instance, the question “How might we sell more washing machines ” is not easily reversed—there is no key word to swap with “washing machines”. Yet, when you rephrase the question to “How might we sell more washing machines to young parents ”, you can easily change it to “How might we sell more young parents to washing machines ”. 84 You could interpret this last sentence as “the washing machine pays the young parents to try it out”。Then, you could start communicating to potential buyers how much they will save each year when they choose your energy-efficient washing machine.
As this example shows, some reversals will require a very flexible way of thinking. 85 However, thinking about the tiny amount of time it will “cost” you to try out a reversal, you have very little to lose and, potentially, lots to gain.
A.The problem statement is much more logical.
B.Often it helps to add one or more key words to the sentence.
C.Rephrasing your challenge is to change the problem statement.
D.A great way to do this is by “reversing” your problem statement.
E.For instance, imagine you are responsible for limiting the traffic jam in your area.
F.Admittedly, it is a very unusual challenge, but it might just stimulate a creative thought.
G.Not everyone will be able to move from an unreasonable statement to a useful solution.

We have all heard that if you talk to yourself, you’re crazy, 86 According to research, talking to yourself in a positive way is actually very healthy for your mind
My first exposure to positive self-talk was reading The Little Engine That Could. Do you remember that book from your childhood While trying to make it up a big hill, the little engine keeps saying to himself, “I think I can, I think I can.” And of course, he makes it. 87
Positive self-talk is one of the most valuable tools you can use to keep yourself physically and mentally balanced. Many Olympic and professional athletes use it every time they practice or compete.
88 My own personal favorite is “I’m okay”. Back when I was in the movie business. I used to work with the stunt (特技) team. I was told that one of their simple but effective secrets was to stay loose and talk to their body. I had the chance to try it out one day. My apartment was on the second floor of a duplex (复式公寓), and one rainy day I slipped on the top step and started falling over. Then I just kept telling myself, “I’m okay.” 89 There were only a few scratches (擦伤) on my legs. I believe to this day that it was the simple positive self-talk that helped keep me from being seriously injured.
Positive self-talk can also help you calm down from anxiety and feel less sad. There was a period of time when I felt upset. Every morning, I woke up and said to myself, “Hi, Barton. You’re going to have a good day today.” 90 When I did it throughout the day, fewer things would bother me, and I became friendlier to myself.
A.In fact, that’s not always the case.
B.Much to my surprise, I was just fine
C.It’s a valuable lesson for us to learn and remember.
D.Instead, there are several different types of self-talk.
E.You know, I was programming my brain to feel good.
F.When it comes to positive self-talk, the simpler, the better.
G.That was an opportunity for me to try something challenging.

How To Stop Bein g A People Pleaser
As a recovering people pleaser, I spent much of my life keeping others happy. Breaking this habit meant stepping on a few toes. However, I’ve become a happier person as a result. Here are some tips I used to stop being a people pleaser.
Identify your priorities. Take a moment to think about why you are trying to learn how to stop being a people pleaser. 91 Why do you feel the need to keep them happy Answering these questions will help you set a goal that you can hold yourself accountable to.
Just say “no”. One reason why people pleasers say “yes” to everything is that they fear disappointing others. 92 If you are a people pleaser, you are likely to spend lots of energy trying to control how people feel about you. The best thing you can do is let them feel their feelings. It will feel liberating to free yourself from being responsible for someone else’s reaction.
93 Saying “no” is a good way to set better boundaries in your important relationships. All healthy relationships have their own boundaries. If you haven’t set boundaries in your relationships, the odds are that at some point you will end up feeling pressured to do something you don’t want to do.
Accept yourself. Many people pleasers are insecure about who they are. 94 Check out our summary of Brené Brown’s the Gifts of Imperfection to learn how to accept your imperfections and love yourself.
Remember that you cannot please everyone. No matter what you do there will always be someone who is unhappy with your choices. 95
A.Learn to set healthy boundaries.
B.Don’t mix up your boundaries with others’.
C.Who are the people that you feel the need to please
D.Spend some time learning to love yourself for who you are.
E.So why bother trying to please everyone if it isn’t possible
F.But saying “no” is the best way to take care of your own needs.
G.That is why the more you seek security, the less of it you have.

Your neighbors are probably the first line of defense in case of any problematic situation. 96 It gives you an assurance that you have people close by looking out for you. Here are easily applicable tips on creating stronger neighbor relationships.
The first step is introducing yourself when you move to a new neighborhood or when a newcomer moves in. Leave them a note under their door to introduce yourself. 97 It doesn’t have to cost you a fortune and opting for a potted plant or baked biscuits will do. These actions present excellent opportunities to connect with them.
Be respectful of your neighbors. It’s in poor taste to have regular insensitive parties at your place causing disturbances. Before your party, it’s good practice to notify your neighbors. Besides, avoid chatting them up for hours on end, which may be inconvenient, especially if you don’t know their schedules. 98 When you borrow anything, return it in due time. If you accidentally break their things, replace them without being asked to.
99 You could offer to babysit your neighbors’ kids, help with snow removals or even keep an eye on their home when they’re away. Such acts of reaching out to your neighbors make for stronger relationships.
As Emma Sepp l put it, “social connectedness generates a positive feedback loop (圈) of social, emotional and physical well-being.” It feels so easy to just stay home without having to engage with your neighbors but connecting with them is worth the effort. 100
A.Remember every small gesture counts.
B.A crisis is a test of communication skills.
C.It can actually boost your mood in the long run.
D.Slipping it in their mailbox further solidifies friendship.
E.It’s essential to ensure you maintain decent relationships with them.
F.Alternatively, you can give them a gift while making yourself known to them.
G.Only by establishing healthy boundaries will you achieve peaceful coexistence.
