学情分析
教学目标 Language Competence Master new words and expressions: endangered, research, keeper, awake, excitement, wail into, fall over, illness, or so, artwork, wild, government Important sentence patterns: 1)The panda keepers at the Chengdu Research Base are awake very early in the morning to prepare breakfast for the baby pandas. 2)Adult pandas do not have babies very often, and some of the babies only live for a short time because of illness. 3)Another reason for fewer and fewer pandas is because people are cutting down trees so pandas have fewer places to live . 2. Train students’ reading ability and develop searching learning strategies; understand the meaning of each number in the text and the details of the text and complete relevant exercises .
Cultural Consciousness Arouse students’ love through understanding the living state of giant pandas, and then realize that it is everyone’s responsibility to protect wild animals and ecological environment.
Thinking Quality Under the teacher’s guide, encourage students to accurately obtain and express the most information about Chinese culture and improve the logic, critical and creative thinking.
Learning Ability let students understand the general idea of the passage through a lot of group activities. By summarizing and practicing, we can further improve students’ comprehensive competence in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
重点 Master the key words and expressions. Understand the details of the text and complete relevant exercises using the language in the text. Improve comprehensive reading ability through reading training.
难点 Understand the meaning of each number in the text Use the key words given under the topic to organize the language to say pandas and retell the passage.

Step 1. Lead-in. Watch a video about extinct animals. T: It is said that 150-200 species of plant, insect, bird and mammal become extinct every 24 hours. T: Can you imagine if there is only human living on the earth,no animals...... T: How can people prevent this thing from happening Today, if we want to know more about pandas, we can go to ... Ss: Chengdu Research Base. T: Why does the base exist Why don't people let pandas go back forest Learn some information about the Chengdu Research Base. Step 3. While-reading. 1.Predicting. Look at the picture and guess the main idea of the text. T: From the picture, can you guess what we're going to learn Provide some key words, such as places, numbers, time, etc. and let Ss scan for specific information in the passage. 2.Scanning. Look through the passage quickly and find the specific information. (Tip: This means moving your eyes quickly down the page to find specific information.) Skimming. Find the main idea of each paragraph. T: According to the main ideas, what’s the purpose of the passage (To protect pandas.) T: What’s the type of writing (Exposition.) Careful reading. Read the first paragraph and answer the questions. Q1: Who are preparing breakfast for baby pandas Q2: What do the baby pandas have for breakfast Q3: How do baby pandas feel when they see the keepers Read the second paragraph and answer the questions. Q1: What is Lin Wei's job Q2: What can Lin Wei do every day Q3: What does Lin Wei think of baby pandas From Para1 and Para2, we can learn about the ______ at the Chengdu Research Base. Watch the video and think: Why do the baby pandas need people's help Can the baby pandas take care of themselves Read the third paragraph and find out what these numbers mean. T: From the numbers, we can learn the pandas have a big amount of food but their number is small. Read Para. 3 carefully, and find out the reasons .
