教学目标：
By the end of this period, students will be able to:
1.Understand this passage and obtain the key information and details;
2.Improve critical thinking skills and have a further understanding of the extreme disasters;
3.Deepen the cognition of the unit theme and share their opinions about how to deal with climate change.
教学重难点：
Instruct students to understand the basic information of hot weather and complete the mind-map;
Guide students to think about the problems caused by extreme temperatures.

Step Ⅰ Lead-in
Activity 1 Look at the film posters
Look at the film posters and answer the questions.
1.Have you seen the films What are they about
2.What do you think the main characters do in the face of these disasters
3.What other stories do you know about natural disasters Share an example with the class.
Activity 2 Look at the picture
Look at the thermometer and answer the questions.
1.What happens when the temperature goes very high or very low How do people deal with extreme temperatures
2.What were the highest and lowest temperatures recorded where you live
3.How do you feel in extreme temperatures

Activity 1 Read for the main idea
Choose the author’s purpose in writing the passage.
