一、语篇研读
文本是新教材第五单元Reading and Thinking部分的阅读部分。该板块以“探索汉字书写体系”（Exploring the Chinese Writing System）为活动主题，为本单元的第二板块。汉字作为世界语言的重要组成部分是促进学生理解本单元的主题——“世界上的语言”（Language around the World）的关键。该文本共计321词，六个自然段。开篇点题——中华文明能一直延续不断并传承至今，其中一个重要原因是汉字书写体系的发展与传承。文本通过对汉字发展的介绍，表达了作者对中华文明和中国文化走向世界的自信。虽然该文本语言简单，结构清晰，易于学生理解，但本文的重点在于其深刻的文化内涵。该板块的学习有利于学生了解中国汉字的发展历史，理解汉字与中华文化传承的关系，主动思考未来汉字在全球范围内的发展与使用，培养学生的国际视野。

通过本书前四个单元的学习，学生对高中的英语学习已有了一定的基础和经验，梳理文本信息的能力有所提高，能理顺段和段之间的逻辑关系，能找到时间线。但提取关键词、分清主次信息、理顺句和句之间逻辑关系的能力还很欠缺。学生在语文和历史课上学习过汉字的演变历史，对这个话题很熟悉，但缺乏相关话题的英语词汇表达，不能用英语完整、准确地表达出中国汉字书写系统的历史发展及其特点；学生难以总结归纳出汉字书写系统对传承中国文化的重要作用。文本可以激发学生对汉字书写体系乃至中国文化的自豪感和认同感。
三、教学目标
单元教学目标：了解中国汉字历史发展及各时期的特点，归纳中国汉字传承中国文化的功能价值。
课时教学目标：
在本节课结束时，学生能够:
通过利用阅读技巧获取、梳理汉字书写体系发展过程。
运用思维导图描述汉字书写体系的发展过程。
基于文本分析，借助思维逻辑技能，阐述汉字发展对中国文化传承的积极作用。
作为导游向参观“中国文字博物馆”的外国友人们介绍汉字书写体系的历史变迁及重要性。
四、教学重点
培养学生预测、扫读和分析文本等阅读技能，指导学生探索和理解汉字与中华文明传承的关系，加强学生对中华文化的自豪感和认同感，增强他们对母语学习和对中国文化的自信心。
教学难点
培养学生基于语言和文本分析的批判性思维和文化意识，认识到汉字书写体系的功能与重要性，唤起学生传承汉字书写体系，传扬中国文化的强烈意识。
教学过程

Let students look at the pictures and tell the name of them.
Then let students find what they have in common in these pictures,
Pre-reading:(1 min)
Activity 1：
Let students look at the title and pictue and predict what the text will be about
利用标题和图片等信息预测文章内容，激发学生对阅读课文的兴趣和期望，培养学生预测的阅读技能。
While-teading:(17mins)
Activity 2：
Let students skim for checking the prediction and match the main idea of eac paragraph.
(Justification: 训练学生快速略读的阅读技巧，了解文章的段落大意。)
Activity 3：
Let students skim through the passage to sort out the structure of the passage.
Let students guess how the para 2 is organized.
(Justification: 通过阅读技巧，增强对文章总体框架与脉络的理解能力。
Group Activity 4：
Let students scan the text to find the words or phrases that describe a time (from para.2-para.4) and find out what happened at each period
Let students introduce the development of the Chinese writing system based on their mind maps.
(Justification: 通过梳理时间线索，掌握和描述中国汉字的发展进程。并利用思维导图激发学生的创造性。)
Activity 5：
Let students find out the sentences from para. 4 to Para.6 to support the Chinese writing system is important for China.
Let students figure out: What does each “importance” refer to
(Justification:培养学生的细节理解能力，帮助学生能准确找出细节信息，认识到汉字书写系统的生认识到汉字的功能与重要作用，加强学生对中国文化的自豪感和认同感。

Write a short speech (within four lines) to introduce the development and importance of the Chinese writing system.
