本单元紧紧围绕家居陈设及其位置这一主线，属于“人与自我”“人与社会”主题范畴。学习运用“There is/are... on/beside/in…”描述家居陈设及其位置，通过学习课文内容和重点句型促进学生养成细心观察的习惯，提高他们的观察归纳能力。
二、语篇研读（附图）
What：本节课选自接力版英语（三年级起点）五年级下册Lesson 1 There is a desk beside the bed. 本部分学习的核心语言是用there be句型描述家具陈设及其位置：There is /are...on/beside/in… 课文主要内容是Lingling和Ann谈论自己新房间内的家居陈设及其位置。核心语言使用场景为日常生活常见，易于理解且学生感兴趣，对学生的个人生活态度的养成有积极的作用。

三、教学对象分析
五年级英语在小学英语教学中起着承上启下的作用，既是四年级的衍生又是六年级的铺垫。我们的学生虽然已有四年的英语学习经验，但还有以下一些问题需要解决。部分学生学习兴趣不是很高，个别的学生甚至对学习有厌恶感，同时，许多学生还是为学习而学习，谈不上兴趣问题，回家不会学习，无正确的学习方法，不知如何看书，学习态度谈不上十分端正，回家以后巩固时间很少，且缺乏有效的巩固手段，练的机会明显不足。部分学生学习的目的性不是很强，导致学习习惯不好，学习无明确的计划，有作业就写，无作业就玩。老师布置的作业不能按时完成，回家看书也只是应付家长，作业不能很好完成。
四、教学目标
通过本课学习，学生能够：
1.在看、听、说的活动中，获取和梳理对话信息，理解对话中运用there be句型描述家具陈设及其位置所使用的核心语言:There is / are ... on / beside / in…;(学习理解）
2.在教师和同伴的帮助下，分角色表演对话，呈现核心语言在真实语境中的运用，并会对其中的语言、行为以及同伴的表现进行多角度评价；（应用实践）

第二课时包括Picture story, Pronunciation, Fill in the banks三部分：Picture story改编自经典原版故事，激发学生阅读兴趣，巩固新学语言，启迪学生思考，使学生理解故事蕴含的情感因素。Pronunciation为语音板块，主要学习元音字母组合ai在单词中的发音/e /,了解字母组合ai的发音规律,并能够根据拼读规则拼读单词；Fill in the blanks为书写板块。通过根据情景图选择单词完成语段的书写活动,巩固本课核心句型和词汇。
