Recently, a new planet was discovered, which is about 31 light years away. Scientists haven't seen it in fact, but they've been able to calculate (计算) its size and weight by watching its influences on the star that it orbits (沿轨道运行). It appears that this planet is mainly made of iron.
“From our calculations, we find that this planet is smaller and lighter than Earth," says Kristine Lam, a planet researcher. "It could be similar to Mercury, which is also made of mostly iron." The planet, known as “GJ 367 b”, orbits so close to its star. So it only takes about eight Earth hours to orbit its star.
Temperatures on the planet's surface could reach about 1,500 ℃. " we can imagine this planet is probably like a molten(熔化的) planet. A lot of metals can start to melt on the planet. Perhaps it doesn't have air on it, but at the moment we don't know yet ," says Lam. “What we do know is that this planet has an interior(内部)similar to Mercury's.”
This “strange” planet could teach us about how planets form. Scientists have found nearly 5,000 planets orbiting far stars in recent years. However, it's unusual to find one that orbits its star in less than one Earth Day.
It's long been unclear why Mercury is especially iron-rich. “Nobody knows why Mercury sticks out that way," says Joshua Winn, a scientist at Princeton University. "It's richer in iron than Venus or Earth or Mars.”
One story is that Mercury was hit by a large object early in its history. The hitting took away its outer layer (外层), leaving the planet as a big iron core. But no one can be sure that such an event ever happened.
“It's not clear yet if there's a connection between this new planet and Mercury," says Winn," but it might help us understand how Mercury formed if we know how GJ367 b formed.”
51. How can the scientists know the size of the new planet
By watching it directly. B. By comparing it with Mercury.
C. By studying how it influences its star. D. By calculating the amount of iron on it.
52. What can we know about the new planet
It orbits its star slowly. B. It is very hot on its surface.
C. It is heavier than Earth. D. It has been seen by scientists.
53. What do Mercury and the new planet have in common
A. They have a similar interior. B. They formed in the same way.
C. They were hit by other planets. D. They orbit their star at the same speed.
54. Which planet has the largest amount of iron according to the passage
A. Earth. B. Mars. C. Mercury. D. Venus.
55. The passage can be read in the part of “________” in a newspaper.
A. Culture B. Environment C. Science D. Technology

Say you're sitting around with some friends playing video games and someone mentions a game that happens to be one of your favorites. "Oh, that game's easy. So not worth the time,” one of your friends says. The others agree. Although you enjoy the game quite a lot, not wanting to argue with them, you go along with the crowd.
You have just experienced what is commonly referred to as peer pressure(同伴压力), also called peer influence. You will adopt a certain type of behavior, dress, or attitude in order to be accepted as part of a group of your "peers". As a teen, you are likely to have experienced the effect of peer pressure in a number of different areas.
We are all influenced by our peers at any age. For teens, as school and other activities take you away from home, you may spend more time with your friends than with your family. As you become more independent, your peers naturally play a greater role in your life.
According to Dr. Casey from Cornell University, teens are very quick and accurate in making decisions on their own and in situations where they have time to think. However, when they make decisions in the heat of the moment or in social situations, their decisions are often influenced by factors like peers. In a recent study, teen volunteers played a video driving game, either alone or with friends watching. The researchers discovered that the number of risks teens took more than doubled when their friends were watching, compared with when they played alone. This shows that teens may find it more difficult to control risky behavior when their friends are around, or in situations where they are extremely angry.
Just as people can influence us to make unwise choices, they can also influence us to make good ones. A teen might join in a volunteer project because his or her friends are doing it, or get good grades because his or her friends think getting good grades is important. In fact, friends often encourage each other to study, or try out for sports.
While we are always influenced by those around us, the decision to act or not is up to us. So when it comes to decision making, the choice is up to you.
56. According to the passage, when someone is experiencing peer pressure, he will probably _________.
A. behave similarly to his peers to be accepted
B. choose to wear the same type of dress with his peers
C. adopt a similar attitude with his peers
D. All of the above.
57.According to the passage, Dr. Casey probably agrees that teens _______________.
A. like to play driving games with their friends
B. prefer situations where they have time to think
C. may take more risks when their friends are around
D. are slow in making decisions when they are on their own
58.The words "in the heat of the moment" in Paragraph 4 probably mean"_______________”.
A. when teens avoid possible risks
B. when teens trust their judgment
C. when teens lose control over their anger
D. when teens give consideration to situations
59.What can we learn from the passage?
A. Teens are eager to be different from their peers.
B. Peer pressure has effects on both teens and adults.
C. Peer pressure does more harm than good to teens.
D. Tees think it challenging to get good grades at school.
60.Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A. Peer Pressure: Is It Necessary to Deal with It?
B. Peer Pressure: Is It Possible to Get Away from It?
C. Peer Pressure: Its Benefits to Teens and Friend Making
D. Peer Pressure: Its Influence on Teens and Decision Making.

Many children learn to type early in life. 71 But a recent study looked at what happens in the brain when you type. It also looked at what happens in the brain when you write by hand.
72 Because writing takes more movements (运动) to do it, which activates the brain and makes more areas of your brain turn on. The scientist, Audrey, led the new study. When you write, you have to think about the shape of each letter. Then you have to move your hand to write the letter. All of this uses different areas of the brain.
The study involved volunteers. 73 So did 12 students in seventh grade. They did two things. First, they wrote with a digital (数字的) pen. Next, they typed on a keyboard. Each wore a special cap on their head. The caps were full of electrodes which are small pieces of metal to measure electricity in the brain. 74 The electrodes recorded what was happening in their brain. They showed that brain activity was similar in kids and adults and writing turned on memory areas in the brain. Typing did not. Writing turned on learning areas of the brain, too. Audrey says, when we write by hand, we learn and remember better.
Does this mean we should get rid of (摆脱) typing The scientists say no. 75 Keyboards can help these students. But learning to write early on would be good for all kids, they say.
Learning to write by hand is slower and harder, but Audrey adds, that’s good: “If we don’t challenge our brain, it can’t reach its full potential.”
A. Twelve adults took part in the study B. The earlier you learn to type, the better. C. Typing is easier for them D. Some students have trouble using their hands E. The study found that writing uses more of the brain than typing F. It is difficult for them to type at a young age. G. The volunteers wore the caps for each thing they did.
