What:本课是高中生Maggie和周先生的对话,属于口语对话语篇。本对话主要讨论了建立新的学校社团的基本步骤以及申请建立新社团提案中必须包含的信息。
Why:本对话语篇旨在鼓励学生积极参与校园社团活动,丰富学生的高中生活。
How:通过对话的方式组织语篇,以建立社团的先后顺序为逻辑
Part III学情分析:
本班学生是高一新生,他们对于高中学校社团的话题比较熟悉。他们的英语基础较好,他们已经具备在听力中获取细节信息的能力,但是他们对于听前预测,通过听力语境猜测词义等学习策略掌握得不太好。此外,他们对于创办社团的提案所需包含的内容和结构不太了解,更无法用英语表达开办学校社团提案的相关内容,需要教师进一步引导。

Part VII教学步骤
Step 1: Lead in 4’
Teacher plays a short video about school clubs and asks students if they have joined a school club and what they do in the school clubs.
Teacher asks students if they want to start a new club and know how to start a new club
Justification: The video can attract students’ attention and stimulate students’ learning interest. By asking students to share their experience in school clubs before, students’ prior knowledge of the school club is stimulated, which can help students get better prepared for the class.
Step 2: Pre - listening 2’
Activity one: Prediction
Teacher shows the five step of starting a new school club and asks students to put the steps in order based on their prior knowledge.
Justification: Prediction before listening can help students get well prepared for the following listening task. Besides, it can arouse students curiosity for listening and help students form a good learning habit.
Step 3: While-listening 10’
Activity two: Listen and order 4’
Teacher explains the task and gives students 30 minutes to read the questions and underline some key words.
Students listen carefully and try to put the steps in the correct order.
Teacher invites some students to share their answers.
Teacher asks students to guess the meaning of the word“proposal” and the phrase“sign up”and then explain them with some examples.
Justification: This task focuses on the steps of starting a new school club, so students can ignore some detailed information and have a general idea of how to start a new club. Underlying the key words in each step can help students focus on key points and improve their listening efficiency. Besides, students’ ability to learn new words in context can be improved by guessing the meaning of new words and phrases in the listening material.
Activity three: Listen and fill in the blanks 6’
Teacher gives students thirty seconds to read through the notes on page 8.
Teacher plays the tape again and asks students to complete the note.
Teacher checks the answers with students.
Justification: The task is intended to improve students’ ability to capture detailed information. And the given notes set up a logical framework for students, which make it easier for students to do the task and provide material support for the following activities.
Step 4: After listening 27’
Activity four: Group discussion 12’
T shows students Maggie’s unfinished proposal for a new club and asks students to work in groups of 4 to talk about what club activities Maggie can organize and and ways to find new members.
Teacher invites some students to share their group’s ideas with the whole class.
Justification: Students can get more familiar with the structure and content of proposal for a new school club, which can lay a foundation for setting up a new school club.
Activity five: Introducing your own club 15’
Teacher shows students some school clubs and asks them to work in groups of four to talk about plans of starting a new club.
Teacher ask students to think about what information should be included when they plan to start a new club by referring to the proposal on page
Teacher provides students some useful expressions on the ppt and encourages them to use these expressions.
Justification: This activity can promote the combination of old and new knowledge and promote the cultivation of students’ creative thinking and cooperative leaning ability.
Step 5: Summary and homework 2’
Teacher summarizes what they have learned with the class.
2. Homework: Students write a proposal for their new club by imitating the Proposal for a new club on page 9.
Justification: Through writing a proposal by themselves, students consolidate what they have learned in class.
Optional activity: Ask students to write a proposal for their new club by imitating the Proposal for a new club on page 9.
