Dear Kate,
I have some problems with my mom that I hope you can help me with.
The main problem is that my mom keeps pressing me to study all the time. I do as she says, but she is never satisfied with my grades. Why can’t she leave me alone I want to take a break once in a while. I want to go out with my friends.
I understand that everything she does is for me. But I wish she could be more flexible so that I can make my own decision.
Could you please give me some advice
Yours,
Haley

Dear Haley,
Thanks for your trust. I understand your feelings. From your letter, your mother doesn’t value your effort in your schoolwork and that makes you feel unhappy. Try following these pieces of advice and see if they help improve your relationship.
First, talk to your mother. Make sure she understands your feelings. Choose a good time and start a conversation politely. Second,I think you should try to meet in the middle when talking to your mother. Of course, school matters, but relaxation is good for you too. For example, you can explain why you want to go out with your friends and how it helps you. Why not make a deal that you are both satisfied with

Third, it might be a good idea for you to put yourself in your mother’s shoes and try to understand what she does. I know it isn’t easy, but you must be patient. When your mother keeps pressing you to study all the time, think about the reason why she does so. When I was your age, I thought senior high school was tiring too. I couldn’t understand why my parents were so strict with me. However, when I grew up, I realized that they just wanted me to have the best possible future. After that, I became so much closer to my mom and dad.
I hope that my suggestions will be of great use in solving your problems.
Best wishes!
Yours,
Kate
