As a working mother, my years passed without time for relaxing. The kids have been out of the nest, and I have been retired. Now I could take some time for ME!
36 As a lifelong list maker, I did my research. There were relaxation activities like meditation (冥想), exercise, socializing… I was determined to find the one thing that truly filled my soul. And so began my not-so-smooth journey to finding myself.
Meditation was the first to come and go. I never fully understood how to shut my mind off. I always felt like I was just waiting for it to end. Next, I tried “Teatime as Me Time.” 37 I imagined sitting across from a dear friend, drinking elegantly from delicate cups, but that is as far as it ever went. I have the fancy tea set (never used) and a shelf full of tea packages that I will never consume. Exercise is a highly recommended me-time activity. But for me, after a week or so of training, exercise time was killing me. 38
Many other me-time experiments left me wanting less of them, not more. I felt like a failure at this me-time thing. I could spend the whole morning watching the big, fuzzy bees in my garden. In those moments, time stood still. 39 I discovered that I truly desired less emphasis on me altogether.
Maybe the experts had this me-time thing all wrong, and it had little to do with “me” or “time” as I was defining it. Perhaps we are too concerned with how we spend our time instead of enjoying the nothing-ness of simply being. Instead of viewing it as a hesitation between activities, we can shift our awareness into welcoming timelessness. 40 Maybe a better version of “me time” is simply “be time” … or, better yet, “bee time”!

Changing the power grid (电力网) 65 (accommodate) different sources of energy can help solve this problem, but this has yet to occur on a wide scale.

Writing, specifically by hand, has numerous benefits for your health and well-being.
For starters, it can improve your memory and form new ideas. When you write by hand, you have to coordinate verbal and fine movement systems. And when you learn new information, for example at school or in a university lecture, you don’t write word by word. 36
Researchers have also found that writing by hand has a calming effect. “Writing down a sentence like, ‘I will be more peaceful’ at least 20 times per day can actually have an impact.” Dr. Marc Seifer, a handwriting expert. “This actually calms the person down and retrains the brain.” 37 These issues, if they aren’t addressed, can severely affect not only your work performance, but your physical health as well.
You can improve your writing skills in the following ways.
38 After all, practice makes perfect. However, don’t force yourself to write daily. You can make this a weekly event—allow yourself to write whatever’s on your mind.
When it comes to writing in the workplace, always get to the point. Be clear, concise and direct. 39 Know your audience members and address them with the tone that will best get your message across.
Finally, leave enough time for revisions and take advantage of the resources at hand. I not only use Grammarly to help me avoid common grammatical and spelling errors, but I always have someone else on my team proofread my work, before sharing it with others.
Writing isn’t an outdated skill best left in your school days. 40
