教学过程
Step 1 Definition of Bridges
1. A structure built over a river, road etc. that allows people or vehicles to cross from one side to the other.
2. Something that provides a connection between two things.
设计意图:通过了解桥梁的定义,对动物所要经过的各种道路有进一步的认识。
Step 2 New Words and expressions
设计意图:扫清生词障碍,为了让学生更好地理解短片内容。
Step 3 Activate and Share
Do you think human activities can affect animals’ behavior If yes, how Give some examples.
设计意图:通过两人对话练习,分享看法。然后全班分享,列出多种看法和例子。
注:后面所给的参考答案,只是学生在看视频前的一些想法。观看完视频后,学生会发现其他完全不同的内容。
Step 4 View and Learn
Why did the chicken cross the road We may never know since she’s probably never got to the other side. This video presents different barriers animals face when living in human-built environments, and also offers some solutions.
设计意图:视频大意简介,便于学生更好地理解视频内容。

设计意图:了解西方文化中关于小鸡过马路的古老笑话之一,活跃氛围,丰富文化内涵。
说明:One of the oldest question in comedy is, WHY DID THE CHICKEN CROSS THE ROAD And there continue to be new answers. 这是英语中最古老的笑话之一,为什么小鸡要穿过马路?直到现在还有鲜活的答案源源不断地出现。
Watch Part 1 of the video. Tick (√) the human-made things that affect animals’ lives.
设计意图:观看视频的第一部分(1’19’’处结束),判断哪些人造东西影响动物生活。
Watch Part 2 of the video. Write T (true) or F (false). Explain why.
设计意图:观看视频第二部分,判断正误,并解释正误的原因。
In the final part, the speaker introduces some bridges which animals can use to cross the obstacles. Watch and match the animals with their possible bridges.(1’45’’处开始)

Step 5 Express yourself
Do you think these bridges are good enough for animals Can you come up with some other innovative ideas that may help animals cross the barriers (Group work)
设计意图:基本视频内容,让学生发散思维,以小组形式讨论更多可帮助动物过障碍的创新观点。
Step 6 Assignment
Search online to find more innovative ideas (or you may come up with your own ideas) that may help animals cross the barriers. Then share your information with your classmates.
设计意图:就所学相关帮助动物越过障碍的话题,进行课外拓展或创新性思维学习,小组间互相交流,共同进步。
