Text 10
With the development of science and technology, people have more spare time. But how do we spend the free time I prefer to go outdoors and spend my free time in some different places with some different people.
The first reason for outdoor activities is that I have spent too much time indoors. Most of the time I sit in the classroom, listening to the teachers and doing my exercises. The indoor activities are too limited.Fresh air, sunlight and enough physical exercises are needed for a healthy body.So when I am free.I should go out.The second reason is that I want to have more experiences in my life. When you go out,far away from your daily life, you will meet a lot of people who are quite different from you.It will give you a lot of exciting experiences.
However, outdoor activities will take a lot of money and energy. So if you have not prepared enough, having some amusement indoors is also a good choice, which may be cheaper and easier to carry out.Reading some books and enjoying music are also very good.

[2023·山东省德州市二模]When it comes to our favorite adventures, there's nothing like a trip centered around wildlife.
Witness East Africa's Great Migration
One of the most popular trips is undoubtedly witnessing East Africa's Great Migration. This is an incredible opportunity to see almost two million wildebeest (牛羚), along with zebras and gazelles, begin their journey north from the Serengeti, where they choose to give birth to their young, to the Masai Mara in search of water and better grasslands. The journey is also filled with predators, such as crocodiles and lions, making for dramatic and emotional encounter.
Go whale watching in Alaska
Alaska has a lot going for it; shocking glaciers, thick forests and ample wildlife. Alaska has more than three thousand rivers and three billion lakes, and is also home to multiple whale species during the summer months. Visitors can choose to see them on small whale watching boat tours and on personal sea kayaks.
Dive with marine life in the Great Barrier Reef
For scuba divers, nothing can quite compare to Australia's Great Barrier Reef, which is home to more than 1,600 species of fish, 133 species of sharks and 30 species of whales and dolphins. Unfortunately, the reef has been extremely affected by coral bleaching (漂白), resulting in the loss of reportedly half of its coral. Still, the Great Barrier Reef remains breathtaking, and eco friendly tours are available.
Spot polar bears in Svalbard

[2023·湖北省高三联考]An abandoned steel factory in Beijing caught global attention when Big Air skiing started on Monday. During the competition, athletes slid down a 64 meter high, 164 meter long ramp (坡道) to gain speed before they jumped into the air and did tricks. As they rose, television cameras showed them with the repurposed steel factory in the background.
The Big Air skiing structure was built on the site of the former Shougang steel factory, China's first state owned plant that helped the country become a world leader in steel production. It provided work for thousands but also darkened the sky over Beijing and contributed to the city's air pollution. It was shut down and moved to Hebei province as part of China's plan to restructure its economy and reduce pollution for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Since then, the factory has been turned into an industrial heritage park. Now its cooling towers and smokestacks (烟囱) provide an amazing backdrop for the competitions at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
“We had other plans to build the Big Air skiing structure elsewhere, but the idea to combine Olympics with industrial heritage won over the International Olympic Committee,” said Liu Yumin, a member of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Organizing Committee. “The structure will serve as a basis for the entire plan to turn the industrial heritage park into a future destination of winter sports and related activities.”
Until now, all Big Air skiing has taken place on temporary structures in mountain ski areas or inside sports stadiums. With narrow runways and shorter, flatter landings, athletes cannot show their best on those temporary setups. The permanent spacious Shougang setup doesn't have those restrictions and skiers have benefited from the enormous improvements during the competition and several skiers have accomplished previously unfinished tricks.
“Temporary jumps like the one in Atlanta can be pretty shaky and scary,” said American skier Nick Goepper. “If something like this can be copied all over the world, it would be super cool.”
“This is one of the coolest things I've seen,” said Eileen Gu. “Instead of pouring black smoke into the sky, the yards are shooting Olympians skyward.”
24.What can be learned about Shougang steel factory
A.It is still one of the biggest steel factories in Beijing.
B.It was shut down during the Beijing Winter Olympics.
C.It has become a training center for Beijing Winter Olympics.
D.It has been turned into an industrial heritage park in Beijing.
25.What is unique about the Shougang Big Air skiing structure
A.It can be taken apart easily after the Games.
B.It has shorter and flatter landings for the athletes.
C.It is the first permanent skiing structure in the world.
D.It has made the competition harder for the skiers.
26.What did Eileen Gu mean
A.China's experience should be copied all over the world.
B.Temporary Big Air skiing structures are very dangerous.
C.The cooling towers can also be used for the other sports.
D.It is cool to combine Olympics with industrial heritage.
27.In which section of a newspaper may this text most probably appear
A.History. B.Design. C.Industry. D.Culture.
B

24.答案与解析:D 细节理解题。 根据第二段“Since then, the factory has been turned into an industrial heritage park.”

An exhibition of 125 life size elephant sculptures has gone on display in London to highlight the need for coexistence between people and wildlife.
Organized by conservation groups Elephant Family and The Real Elephant Collective, the exhibition comes as a herd of wild Asian elephants roaming Southwest China's Yunnan Province has drawn global attention. Elephant Family said it would like to see more strategies in place that allow elephants to migrate, eat, and do their best to fit into strange landscapes in a way that is safe for both people and wild animals.
The CoExistence exhibition is on display at Green Park, St James's Park and Berkeley Square after the sculptures were initially placed outside Buckingham Palace in May. CoExistence is an environmental art exhibition by Elephant Family and The Real Elephant Collective. The elephants have been created deep in the jungles by indigenous (土生土长的) communities who live close to their real life counterparts. Here, people and elephants coexist in denser (更密集的) populations than anywhere else in the world.
The founder of The Real Elephant Collective, a nonprofit organization contributing to protecting elephants, said, “Our best guess is that elephants are very intelligent and have learned that humans grow lots of nutritious food. Elephants move over long distances and explore their environment, as their ancestors have always done. Coexistence is about negotiating this sharing of space.”
When many parts of the world went into lockdown to help control the spread of the novel coronavirus, researchers found wildlife thrived (茁壮成长) in the wake of reduced human activity. “A global reduction in human activity has had a positive effect on wildlife around the world,” Elephant Family said. “It has now been scientifically demonstrated that the moment we lighten our footprint, wildlife thrives and transforms the health of the planet for all. The COVID 19 pandemic has showed us that coexistence with wildlife is very much possible.”
After the exhibition, the sculptures will go on sale for between 6,000 pounds (US $8,346) for a calf and 30,000 pounds for a large adult, Money raised will be directed toward some grassroots organizations working on peaceful coexistence.

[2023·广东省高中模拟考试]Celebrity has become one of the most important representatives of popular culture. Fans used to be crazy about a specific film, but now the public tends to base its consumption on the interest of celebrity attached to any given product. Besides, fashion magazines have almost abandoned the practice of putting models on the cover because they don't sell nearly as well as famous faces. As a result, celebrities have realized their unbelievably powerful market potential, moving from advertising for others' products to developing their own.
Celebrity clothing lines aren't a completely new phenomenon, but in the past they were typically aimed at the ordinary consumers, and limited to a few TV actresses. Today they're started by first class stars whose products enjoy equal fame with some world top brands. The most successful start ups have been those by celebrities with specific personal style. As celebrities become more and more experienced at the market, they expand their production scale rapidly, covering almost all the products of daily life.
However, for every success story, there's a related warning tale of a celebrity who overvalued his consumer appeal. No matter how famous the product's origin is, if it fails to impress consumers with its own qualities it begins to resemble an exercise in self promotional marketing. And once the initial attention dies down, consumer interest might fade, loyalty (忠诚) returning to tried and true labels.
Today, celebrities face even more severe embarrassment. The pop cultural circle might be bigger than ever, but its rate of turnover has sped up as well. Each__misstep__threatens__to__reduce__a__celebrity's__shelf__life,__and the same newspaper or magazine that once brought him fame has no problem picking him to pieces when the opportunity appears. Still, the ego's potential for expansion is limitless. Having already achieved great wealth and public recognition, many celebrities see fashion as the next frontier to be conquered. As the saying goes, success and failure always go hand in hand. Their success as designers might last only a short time, but fashion—like celebrity—has always been temporary.
32.Fashion magazines today________.
A.seldom put models on the cover
B.no longer put models on the cover
C.need not worry about celebrities' market potential
D.judge the market potential of every celebrity correctly
33.“loyalty (忠诚) returning to tried and true labels” in Paragraph 3 echoes the idea that________.
A.ordinary consumers are more concerned with price rather than brand name
B.celebrity branded products can be an instant success
C.consumer's enthusiasm for celebrity branded products prove to be inconstant
D.to consumers, quality matters more than the outside of products.
34.The underlined sentence in Paragraph 4 indicates that any wrong step will possibly ________.
A.decrease the popularity of a celebrity and the sales of his products
B.damage the image of a celebrity in the eyes of the general public
C.cut short the artistic career of a celebrity in show business
D.influence the price of a celebrity's products
35.The passage is mainly about ________.
A.celebrity and personal style
B.celebrity and market potential
C.celebrity and fashion design
D.celebrity and clothing industry

根据第四段画线句子前一句“The pop cultural circle might be bigger than ever, but its rate of turnover has sped up as well.”和后一句“and the same newspaper or magazine that once brought him fame has no problem picking him to pieces when the opportunity appears.”

Saturday February 26 Sunny
In order to raise our safety awareness, some firefighters were invited to our school to give a speech last Saturday afternoon. They showed us what to do in case of a fire, how to prevent the fire and how to use different kinds of fire fighting equipment. Then a fire drill was held. As soon as the alarm rang, all of us students ran downstairs one by one. We finally got together at the playground safely where our teachers were waiting for us. Through the drill, we have learned how to escape in an emergency. I think it is important for us to remain calm and know what to do.

A Midnight Rescue
It was not uncommon to carry out tasks at night as rescuers. Harry and David were informed of their task when it was nearly midnight. It was urgent so there was no time to hesitate. They headed into the forest.
The forest was black and silent. A little way into it they reached a fork in the earth path. Harry and David took the left path. They walked in silence, their eyes on the ground, watching out for the traps like big pits (坑) set by the illegal hunters. Every now and then a ray of moonlight through the branches above lit a spot of scarlet (猩红的) blood on the fallen leaves.
David saw that Harry looked very worried, asking, “Could Unicorn be hurt that badly?” Harry answered, “If we can't find it as soon as possible, it doesn't stand much chance to survive.” Of course, Unicorn was not the animal in fairy tales but the nickname of a 3 year old elephant, the last wild elephant in this forest. The nickname was given by the biodiversity rescuers who were protecting every member in this forest. They knew Unicorn was obedient and not afraid of human beings and that sometimes put it in danger. “Without it, the forest was not complete. Those illegal hunters should be thrown into prison.” Harry thought, carrying his first aid kit (急救箱) on his back and walking forward with his flashlight.
It seemed that thick fog would come at any time, which would increase the danger. Harry hurried into the heart of the forest with David. They walked for nearly half an hour, deeper and deeper. There were blood splashes (血迹) on the roots of a tree, as though the poor creature had been struggling around in pain close by. “We must hurry up”, said Harry.

However, it was really not easy for them to find it. That's because thick fog came, covering almost everything. They had to bend down to search for clues like blood splashes or footprints, which made them walk more slowly, ears sharper than usual. Suddenly, painful roars came to the rescuers and in front of them lay the young elephant. “Look! Unicorn!” Harry rushed forward, crying excitedly. It looked exhausted because a wound on its left front leg was bleeding badly.
Without delay, Harry knelt down to do first aid on its wound with David holding the flashlight. Fortunately, everything needed was available in the first aid kit. Calmly and skillfully, Harry conducted an operation on Unicorn immediately, and it seemed more obedient than before. Therefore, it didn't take much time for Harry to stop the bleeding as an experienced rescuer. And after a while, Unicorn was able to stand up and walked away. It was rescued! Waving goodbye to it, Harry and David felt relieved. At this moment, the whole forest woke up, the moonlight fading while winds singing welcome to the dawn.

[2023·山东省聊城市二模]An exhibition of 125 life size elephant sculptures has gone on display in London to highlight the need for coexistence between people and wildlife.

[2023·青岛二中高三模拟]
