“但至少孩子们对这些纸和颜料很满意。”姑娘们沉默地走了一会儿，陷入了沉思。
当他们快到那位女士家的时候，桑迪说话了。
“如果布朗太太付不了钱，我们就会因为没有付款而受到惩罚呢 ”简摇了摇头。
“我想那位女士不会惩罚我们的。她似乎很好地把工作给了我们以换取跑腿的机会。
当他们到达那位女士的家时，他们犹豫了一会儿才敲门。
就在这时，老妇人带着同样凶狠的表情打开了门，姑娘们把信封递给了她。
