Fair tales
All around the world parents tell their children fairy tales. The stories are exciting and children enjoy listening to them again and again. In the stories, animals often speak and sometimes people become animals. The stories usually begin with “Once upon a time…”

Cultural Background
Old, traditional stories such as fairy tales and folk tales usually have positive(积极的) messages in them, regardless of(不管) what language the stories were originally written in. Students probably already know what “Sleeping Beauty”, “Cinderella”, and “Little Red Riding Hood ” are about, but encourage students to think about the message in each fairy tale. One possible message from “Sleeping Beauty” is that good things can sometimes take a long time to happen. One possible message from “Cinderella” is that good may triumph over evil(战胜邪恶) if one is willing to overcome adversity(逆境). One possible message from “Little Red Riding Hood” is that we should be careful of people trying to deceive(欺骗) us for their own reasons or purposes.
