The grasshopper and the ant lived in a forest. The grasshopper was lazy and the ant was hard-working. All summer, the grasshopper sat in the sun and sang happily all the time. The ant made a house under the ground.
Autumn came and the ant worked harder. He collected food and took it into his house. ‘Why do you work so hard ’ asked the grasshopper. ‘Winter is coming soon. It’ll be very cold and it’ll snow, too. It’ll be difficult to find any food,’ said the ant. ‘Don’t be silly, my friend,’ laughed the grasshopper. ‘There will be plenty of food in the forest in winter. Let’s sing and play.’
