4. prove vt.证明;展现

It is proved that friendship can help while in a different country.
它证明了在不同的国家,友谊可以有所帮助。
prove sth. to sb.向某人证明某事
prove (to be)十n./adj.证明是....结果是...(prove为系动词)
It is proved that... 经证明.....
点拨:prove 用作不及物动词,具有系动词的性质,其后可接名词,形容词,介词短语,不定式(主要是to be,且to be可省)等。
5. award n.奖品vt.授予
The contract was awarded to a previously unknown company.
这份合同被授予一家以前不知名的公司。
She won an award for her outstanding performance.她凭借杰出的表现获得了奖励。
award sth. to sb. (=award sb. sth.)把某物颁发给某人
win/ receive/ get an award for因.....而贏得/得到/获得奖项
6. relief n. (焦虑、痛苦的)减轻或消除;(不快过后的)宽慰、轻松或解脱

易混辨析cure/treat
cure表示“治愈”,宾语既可以是人,也可以是疾病,有时也表示“矫正;革除”。
treat表示“治疗”时,多接人作宾语,强调治疗动作,并不说明是否治愈。
8. absorbed adj.被....吸引住:专心致志
(1) absorb v.吸收(液体气体等);吸引全部注意力;使全神贯注
(2) absorb one's attention吸引某人的注意 absorb.... from.....从...中吸收.....
(3) be absorbed in全神贯注于 be absorbed by/ into被 ....吞并(吸引)
9. impact n.巨大影响;强大作用;冲击力
The presence or absence of clouds can have an important impact on heat transfer.
有无云层对热量的传递会产生重要的影响。

10. aim n.目的;目标vi. & vt.力求达到;力争做到;瞄准vt.目的是;旨在

11. assume vt.认为;假设
We must assume him to be innocent until he is proved guilty.尚未证实他有罪,就得假定他是清白的。
It is assumed that the readers have a basic understanding of these frameworks and the features they provide.假定读者对这些框架和它们所提供的特性已有基本的了解。
(1) assume sb./sth. to be...认为某人(事).... It is assumed that..人们认为......
(2) assumption n.假定;设想; on the assumption that..假定...
(3) assuming (that).. 假设....(引导条件状语从句)
12. satisfaction n.满足;满意;欣慰
He had to satisfy all claims for the damage he had caused.他必须赔偿他造成的所有损失。
I am not satisfied with your work; you must improve it.我对你的工作不满意,你必须加以改进。
(1)satisfy v.使满意,使满足;满足(需求、需要等)
satisfying adj.令人满意的 satisfied adj. (感到)满意的

13. as if/though引导从句
She looks as if she were ten years younger.她看起来好像年轻了十岁
As though/if引导的从句可以分为以下几种情况:
(1)在look,seem, appear 等系动词后引导表语从句;
(2)引导方式状语从句;
(3)as if还可用于省略句中。如果as if引导的从句中含有“主语十be”结构,可省略“主语+be”,这样as if后就只剩下名词、不定式、形容词(短语)、介词短语或分词。
14. Would rather do...宁愿做.
(1) would rather do A than do B(=would do A rather than do B)宁愿做A而不愿做B
