How it works
Basically, VR, or virtual reality, means “reality that is not real”.
When you wear a VR headset equipped with sensors and a screen, you are surrounded by three-D images, sounds and other sensory information, which creates a super-realistic effect called “presence”. Though you know the sensory information surrounding you is not real, part of your brain believes it is—and acts accordingly.

The barriers include time, cost and technical limitations.
There are endless possibilities.

1. How does the expert introduce the examples of different applications of VR?
The expert introduces the examples in an orderly way. Linking words such as “also” are used to connect examples. He also uses topic sentences when introducing different aspects of the applications, such as the topic sentence “There are a host of educational applications.”
2. How is 5G technology related to the development of VR?
5G technology, with its potential to serve up more stable mobile connectivity at faster speed, will make it possible for people to enjoy a more immersive VR experience wherever they are.
3. Watch the video. Pay attention to how the editor responded to the expert’s explanations.
The editor uses a lot of rising tones. Such as in the following sentences:
That is amazing!
I can’t wait.
It all sounds wonderful.
4. How is the editor’s attitude behind these rising tones?
The editor is very excited to see all the amazing applications of VR, and she is looking forward to this technology.
