The French author Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin once wrote, “Tell me what you eat, and I will tell you what you are.” Put more simply, this means “You are what you eat.” Most people today relate this saying to healthy eating. However, Brillat-Savarin was actually referring to our personality, character, and culture.

Dear Li Hua,
I recently returned from my trip to China with great excitement and I wanted to share my favorite Chinese food that I discovered during my visit.
Without a doubt, my favorite dish was the incredible Peking duck. The crispy skin, juicy meat, and the sweet sauce were a match made in food paradise. It was a true feast for the senses. Additionally, I couldn’t get enough of the mouthwatering dumplings, especially the ones filled with pork and cabbage. The soft dumpling wrappers perfectly complemented the flavorful filling. I found myself enjoying them at every opportunity.
But do you know what made the experience even more special The warm and welcoming nature of the local people. Everywhere I went, I was met with open arms and genuine hospitality. The locals were incredibly friendly, always eager to share their culture and food with me. It was a heartwarming experience.
I can't wait to catch up with you in person and share more stories from my trip.
Yours faithfully,
John
