The books in David’s schoolbag felt like bricks as he ran down the street. What he wanted to do was to play basketball with Eric, 1 his mother told him he would have to return his sister’s books to the library first.

When I was a boy growing up in New Jersey in the 1960s, we had a milkman delivering milk to our 1 . His name was Mr. Basille. He wore a white cap and drove a white truck. Although I love my life, it hasn’t been a lot of fun as I’ve been ill for 28 years.
