“I sometimes get up at three or four in the morning and I surf the net.”
“I often check my e-mail forty times a day.”
“I often spend more than three hours during one time on the net.”
“I spend more time in chat rooms than with my ‘real-life’ friends.”
Do you know any people like these? They are part of a new addiction (上瘾) called Internet addiction. Internet addicts spend at least thirty to forty hours online every week. The use of the Internet can be an addiction like drug (毒品) use. People lose control (控制) of the time they spend on the Internet.
For example, one college student was missing for several days. His friends were worried, and they called the police. The police found the student in the computer lab: he was surfing the net for several days straight.
Studies show that about 6% to 10% of Internet users become addicted. And people worry about the teens because the Internet is changing the playing field for some of them. They spend more time in cyberspace than in the real world of friends and family.
Is “surfing the net” a hobby or an addiction for you? You may have a problem if you have these symptoms (症状): ①You do not go to important family activities or you do not do school work because you like to spend hours on the Internet.②You can't wait for your next online time.③You go out with your friends less and less.④You plan to spend a short time online, but then you spend several hours.

Most children now chat daily either online or through their mobile phones. They are connecting to a huge number of other children all over the world. Some are shy “in real life” but are confident to communicate with others online; others find support from people of their own age on relationship problems, or problems at home.
Sometimes the online world, just like the real world, can introduce problems, such as bullying or arguments. Going online is great fun, but there are also a few people who use the Internet for offensive (冒犯性的) or illegal (非法的) aims. Children must be made aware of both the good things and the danger.
To keep children safe your management must cover the family computer. Just as you decide which TV programs are suitable, you need to do the same for the websites and chat rooms your children visit. Remind your children that online friends are still strangers. Reminding them of the risks will keep them alert (警惕).
Computer studies are part of school work now, so it's likely that your children may know more than you do. We get left behind when it comes to the latest gadgets (玩意儿) and interactive areas of websites, like chat rooms and message boards, which are especially strange. The language of chat is strange to many parents, too. Chatters love to use abbreviations such as: atb — all the best; bbfn — bye by for now; cul8er — see you later; gr8 — great; idk — I don't know; imbl — it must be love; kit — keep in touch; paw — parents are watching; lol — laugh out loud; xlnt — excellent!

A family in Guelph, Ontario is spending a year living “in 1982”. They're doing it so their kids can see what life was like before technology like iPads, computers and even coffee machines was part of everyday life.
They have stopped using all technology from their home and are relying on the things people would have used back in the 80s. There is a box at the front door where people can put their cell phones in, while they're visiting the family.
Blair McMillan and his wife Morgan want their kids — Trey, 5, and Denton, 2 — to have a year without technology.
Instead of reading e-readers, they are reading books. Instead of using a GPS, they used paper maps. The home the family is living in was built in the 1980s. Even the way they dress and style their hair is from the 80s.
The whole idea started when young Trey was called to come outside. He didn't because he was busy playing on the iPad. That's why his dad thought of the idea of living “in 1982” for a year. The family plans to live like “it's 1982” until April next year. To them, one of the hardest things was giving up their cell phone.
5.What will the visitors do when they come to see the family?

答案与解析 B 推理判断题。根据文章第五段第一句话可知是young Trey使这个家庭有了这个生活在1982年的主意。
