Step1. Warming-up & revision
Greeting: Daily talking.
Sing a song: My small bedroom. (PEP 5A)
Revision
Teacher plays CAI to show a mouse and a case, then asks
T: Where is the mouse?
Ss: It’s …the case.
Revise on, in, under, behind, in front of, near, next to, beside…
Step2. Presentation & Practice
Teacher plays CAI to show to show a bookstore.
T: I want to buy a book. I want to go to the bookstore.
Teach “bookstore”.
2. Teaching the words: Show some pictures; let the ss know the names of some places: museum, post office, cinema, hospital.
3. Listen and place: Let the ss write down each place on a piece of paper, then listen and put them on the right places:
The school is next to the library.
The science museum is in front of the post office.
The bookstore is near the cinema.
The hospital is behind the library. ……
After that, let the ss do this activity in pairs.
4. Let’s try: Let the ss look at Let’s try carefully, then listen and tick.
Teacher checks the answers together with the ss.
5. Let’s Talk: 1) Watch the video of Let’s talk; answer questions: Where is the museum shop? Where is the post office? (Teacher writes the questions on the board.)
2) Let the ss answer the questions: It’s near the door. It’s next to the museum. Teacher explains the meaning and writes down.
6.Listen and follow the tape to read the dialogue.
7.Read in roles, to role play the dialogue.
8. Watch the video without tape; let the ss speak the sentences to dub the dialogue.
Step3 Consolidation&Extension
Make a telephone call to 114. Teacher roles a telephone operator to answer strangers call, then let the ss role play:
T: Hello. This is 114. Can I help you?
S: Is there a hospital in our city?
T: Yes, there is.
S: Where is it?
T: It’s on Yanan Street. It’s near the post office.
S: Thank you very much?
Step 4. Summary
1. Sum up the new lesson.
2. Retell the dialogue.
Homework
1. Listen to the tape. Copy the sentences 2+1.
Make a short new dialogue with your partner.

Step1. Warming-up & revision
Greeting: Daily talking.
Sing a song: Where is the hospital?
T: Is there a hospital in our city? Ss: Yes, there is. T: Where is it? SS: It’s next to/ near/ behind ….
Step2. Presentation & Practice
. Teaching the words: Show a picture of a bookstore. T: I want to buy some books. Where shall I go? Show the word: bookstore. Lead the ss read in different ways. Then, chant to remember the pronunciation:
Bookstore, bookstore. Go to the bookstore.
Then teacher shows a bookstore and a hospital, then asks
T: Where is the bookstore?
Ss: It’s near/ next to the hospital.
2. Teacher use the similar way to present the rest new words, e.g.:
I want to see a film. (cinema)
I’m net feeling well. I want to see the doctor. I’ll go to the hospital. (hospital)
I’m going to post a letter. (post office)
I want to see many robots.( science museum)
3.Show a picture of a science museum, but dot let the ss see the things in it. Let them guess: What’s this? Is this a cinema? Is this a hospital? To present the word: museum
4. Chant and say: Chant the words to read correctly.
5. Game: Where do they go?
T: They will buy some story books and picture books.
Ss: Bookstore.
T: They will go to see a doctor.
Ss: Hospital.
T: They will see some robots.
Ss: Science museum.
……
Step3 Consolidation&Extension
Make a map and talk. SS in pairs finish the map on p5, then talk about their map like this:
S1: There is a … in my city.
S2: Where is it?
S1: It’s next to/ near/ behind ….
2. Learn to sing the song: Where is the hospital? Listen to the song sentence by sentence. Then let them sing after the tape freely.
Step 4. Summary
Sum up the new lesson.
Homework
Listen to the tape. Copy the words 5.
Tell your family or friends the location of some public places.
