教学重点: Help students distinguish different tone of different expression of giving advice; Help students use the right tone and proper expressions to write an email to encourage a firend. 教学难点: How to help students write an email of encouraging and giving advice.
教学过程
Review What is the harm of inactivity/lack of exercise What problems does Leo have What suggestions did Dr. Chen give Reading Read the email Leo wrote to his friend and make a list of the reasons why Leo is unwilling to begin working out regularly. Discussion Activity 1: If you were Rachel, what suggestions can you give to Leo Activity 2: Try to support your ideas with specific and concrete suggestions. Watching a video Let students watch a video about how to give advice and summarize the useful expressions and their tone. Speaking In pairs, role-play a conversation between Rachel and Leo about ways Leo can make exercise a regular part of his life using the suggestions listed and the useful expressions to give advice. Writing Activity 1: Read the instructions of writing an email of encouraging and giving advice in. part D. Activity 2: Analyze a writing sample. Activity 3: Help Rachel write a reply to Leo to encourage him to work out regularly.
