一、教材分析
The application of inversion in writing is very common in college entrance examination. It is a must for student to master. The first part of the class is to review the basic usage of inversion, including the full inversion and partial inversion, especially some important sentences patterns and points that students should pay attention to. The second part of the class is to rewrite sentences using the inversion and use it in the composition.
二、教学目标
1. To revise inversion and enable students to use it properly.
2. To learn to use the inversion sentence patterns to make sentences well and enhance the students’ writing ability.
三、学情分析
The students in this class, have learnt basic knowledge of the inversion. But some of them are not very proficient in English, especially in writing. Many students can not write correct sentences when using inversion . There are many grammatical errors in their compositions.
四、教学策略
1.Task-based teaching: help students to review inversion
2. Cooperative learning: help students to discuss something different and solve it.

Step 1 Leading-in:5mins

3. According to a video about “Shandong people like talking Shandong hua”, inversion sentences are introduced. Students: watch a short video about inversion
Aim: To make teaching aims clear to the students and to arouse students’ interest in learning.
Step 2. Revision of inversion
Full inversion表示地点、时间或方位的副词(如 here/there, now/then, up/down, in/out, away)或介词短语(如 at the corner,on the wall)等置于句首,且主语为名词时,常用完全倒装。Partial inversion部分倒装是指将谓语的一部分(如助动词、情态动词、连系动词 be)移至主语之前,谓语的其他部分仍保留在主语的后面。如果谓语部分无上述三种动词,则需找助动词 do、did、does来“帮助”它构成倒装句。主从复合句中主句倒装,从句不倒装。1. 当否定词或带有否定意义的词或短语位于句首时,常用部分倒装。
2. only +状语位于句首时,常用部分倒装。
3. 在 so/such. that(如此.......以至于)句型中,若 so/such...提至句首,则需要部分倒装。在这个句型中,so/such所在的主句要倒装,而 that引导的从句不倒装。
4. So\Neither\Nor 位于句首时,常用部分倒装。

Attention 1: 当否定词或带有否定意义的词或短语位于句首时, 常用部分倒装。这类短语有:on no account; by no means ; in no case/way; under no circumstance ; at no time
Attention2: Hardly/Scarcely/barely...when; No sooner ...than...中, 注意句子时态。Hardly/Scarcely/barely +倒装句(had done) +when +陈述句(did)No sooner +倒装句(had done) +than+陈述句(did)
Attention3:not only...but also... , hardly\scarcely\ barely...when... , no sooner...than...连接两个句子时,前倒后不倒。
Attention4: not until 位于句首,倒装在主句中。
Attention5: only 修饰主语时句子不倒装。

Step 3. How to write inversion in practical writing
假如你要参加学校举办的以环保为主题的英语演讲比赛,请撰写一份演讲稿。
内容包括:
1. 目前的环境状况;
2. 造成环境污染的原因以及带来的危害;
3. 保护环境的措施。
1).在过去,人们很少意识到环保的重要性。
2).直到地球被严重地污染了,人们才意识到自己犯了一个严重的错误。
3).有很多问题是由环境污染造成的。
4).汽车放出了如此多的废气,严重地污染空气。
5).这个问题是如此的严重以至于我们只能去采取一些措施去处理它。

Step 4 How to write inversion in continuation writing
Exercise 1. 短文润色It was daybreak when Jane woke up. In the distance, she heard the helicopter again. Immediately, she took off her yellow blouse and waved at the helicopter. Although she was exhausted, she still kept yelling at the top of her lung. Amazingly, the helicopter approached! Tom got off the helicopter and dashed to his beloved wife at once. Seeing Tom, Jane was so excited that she couldn’t help weeping. “Oh, my dear Tom! I will never leave you again!” The couple hugged tightly. After this life-risking journey, they realized the precious love between them could conquer every difficulty in life.
Exercise 2 There is a farm not far from the coastline. It belongs to a man called Tom. Tom couldn't do everything by himself on the farm. Thus, he needed to hire one man to help him run the farm. However, no one worked on his farm for long. Why?Because the work was too tiring. Since the farm is near the sea, there are often storms from the sea that strike his farm. When a storm comes, Tom and the man he hired have to get up quickly and try to reduce the losses caused by the storm. Therefore, no one liked working there. Tom had to look for people to work for him all the time. One day, a man called Henry read the poster that Tom had put up and then came to his farm. “Sir, I can work for you ,” said Henry. Tom looked at Henry. This young man was neither strong nor tall. “Are you sure ” asked Tom. “Yes, sir. I can do the work well. But you must pay me twice what you paid others before,” said that young man. Tom was surprised. He didn't really believe such a man could do the work well. But it was really hard for him to find someone else to work for him. At last, he decided to give Henry a try. However, before hiring him, he said, “Can you really be a good helper?The work on the farm is hard and tiring. And there are often storms.” Henry smiled and said, “Don’t worry. I can be a good helper .You'll see. And storms won't be a problem. They won't even disturb our sleep. We can sleep very well even on stormy nights.” And then Henry stayed on the farm. To Tom's joy, Henry worked hard and did his work well. It was obvious that he hadn't lied. However, one night, there was a big storm. Tom was woken up by the strong wind. He was worried that the storm would cause great losses for his farm. And he saw his helper nowhere.

Step5. Think and discussion
When Dr. Henderson was assigning (指定 ) project mates for his psychology class, I secretly hoped he would pair me with my best friend or at least a classmate I could have some fun with. Above all, I hoped he wouldn’t assign me to work with the fiercely competitive and extremely serious fellow who always wore dark clothes and apparently had a personality to match. As fate (命运) would have it, Dr. Henderson very deliberately matched everyone in class and announced that I would be working with the one person in class I wanted to avoid.
I went up to my new teammate and introduced myself. He looked at me as though I weren’t there. I felt he treated me as though I would hold him back and probably make him fail to get an A in the course. He wasn’t mean or abusive. He just gave me the impression that he could do whatever project we dreamed up better if he did it alone.
Needless to say, I didn’t look forward to an entire team of being brushed off, but I tried to make the best of it and didn’t say anything for fear that I would make things worse. The project required each team to develop a hypothesis (假说 ), set up an experiment to test the hypothesis, do the statistical analysis and present the findings. Whatever grade the team received would be shared by both students. When my teammate and I met to discuss our project, I was uneasy. Here was this challenging student who had a reputation for single-mindedness and good grades—the exact opposite of me. I actually wanted to drop the class at one point, but stopped short because I didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of my chickening out. I decided to stick to it no matter what.
After long discussions, we somehow agreed to do a study on the psychological well-being of teenagers. I wasn’t sure what it meant exactly, but at least we had a topic.
