一般过去时（1）：be 动词的一般过去时
【考点例析】
一般过去时（was/were）表示过去的状态。若主语是第一人称单数或第三人称单数时，谓语动词用was；主语是第二人称或其它人称的复数时，谓语动词用were。如:
He was in a bank a moment ago. 刚才他在银行。
They were at KTV last night. 昨晚他们在KTV。
You were at home yesterday. 昨天你在家。
（1）否定句：在was/were后 + not 即可变为否定句。
Tom and Li Ming were not (=weren’t) in the classroom just now.
汤姆和李明刚才不在教室。
He was not (=wasn’t) in Chengdu last year.他去年不在成都。
I wasn’t in Grade Six last year.我去年不是6年级。
Tony wasn’t a teacher two years ago.托尼两年前不是老师。
(2)一般疑问句及回答:把was/were提到句首, 句末用问号 即可变为一般疑问句。即：
Was / Were＋主语＋表语＋其它？
(3)特殊疑问句：疑问词+were/was+主语…… 如：
Where were you yesterday 昨天你在哪里？

I was born in a small town in Jiangxi fifteen years ago. I had a great time in my home town when I was a little child. My primary school wasn't big but it was very beautiful. Mr Smith and Mrs Read were my first teachers. They were very strict with us but kind and friendly. Sarah and Nick were my first friends. Sarah was good at school but Nick was difficult. There was a big garden at the back of our school. It was really great to play in it. I like my primary school life, and I miss the friends there. And I'm looking forward to seeing them again.
