当宾语从句是陈述句时，用that做连接词，that
可以省略。
当宾语从句是疑问句时，用whether做连接词，
意为“是否”从句用陈述语序。whether 在从句中
不充当任何成分，只起连接作用，不能省略，句
子的标点符号由主句决定。

whether与if引导宾语从句时，一般可以通用，但以下情况
只能用whether不能用if：
①从句有or not.如：
I don’t know whether or not it rains tomorrow.
我不知道明天是否会下雨。
②从句充当介词的宾语。如：
They are talking about whether the party will be had tomorrow.他们正在讨论明天是否召开派对。
③连接词后接动词不定时。
I don’t know whether to stay or not.我不知道是留还是走。
④有些动词（如discuss）后面只能跟whether。
We discussed whether we should let him join our team.
我们正在讨论是否让他加入我们队。
