语篇训练1:
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
In July 2019, to celebrate his 45th birthday, Colin Dowler took a week off from his job as a maintenance manager for the Vancouver Island Health Authority. He planned to spend two days on his own, finding a route he’d eventually use to climb Mount Doogie Dowler.
His wife, Jennifer, didn’t like her husband’s latest plan. She was used to Dowler going on solo adventures, but this time he’d boat to an unknown bay, bike on an uninhabited road, hike through grizzly bear country and camp overnight alone. There would be too much room for disaster.
That night before his journey, Colin packed the necessities. He filled the remaining pockets of his bag with a handheld GPS, hiking poles, homemade sausages and a few other essentials. Instead of his usual Swiss Army knife, he took a three-inch stainless steel (不锈钢) pocket knife given by his dad.
The weather that Sunday, July 28th, was fine. Colin pulled into the Campbell River Harbor and quickly launched and set off in his motorboat. At 8:00 in the morning, he arrived at Ramsay Arm camp where he chatted with some logging workers.
One of the workers, Vito, offered him a ride. They trucked along an overgrown logging road until the forest got too thick. Colin unloaded his bike and backpack from the truck and started hiking and finding routes. He marked his trail with blue ribbons so as not to get lost.
As he passed a seven-kilometer marker for camp-bound logging trucks, he came around a bend and suddenly clenched (握紧) his brakes—a grimy grizzly bear stood in the middle of the narrow road, 30 meters away. Colin immediately calculated his chances of turning around for a quick escape, but the bear could easily tackle him by the time he picked up speed.

The bear suddenly rose to its feet in a threatening way. Colin tossed the sausages in his backpack to the bear in the hope that the smell would attract its attention. Sadly, the bear came after him. Colin was pushed to the ground and bitten on the left leg. “Ouch!” he cried out in extreme pain. As he bled from the wound, Colin remembered the knife in his pocket. He stabbed the bear’s neck as quickly and forcefully as he could. The bear let out a painful howl and ran away. Losing a lot of blood, Colin lost consciousness afterwards.

You might be dead by now because of the blood loss. God bless the ones who help themselves,” said the doctor.

语篇训练2:
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
For my family, a vacation in Penang is a yearly event. My mother and father were raised in Penang, so they loved Penang cuisine. Each December, we’d go to the island and take a three-day tour of their favorite places for meals.
This year we began the trip to the north on a Friday morning. It took us six hours to arrive at our destination. We always stayed at a hotel in Batu Ferringhi. The beach was only a few steps away from the hotel, and our rooms had a beautiful ocean view. We spent our first night playing on the beach. Then, we went back to the hotel rooms and started playing games. My parents had a rule for our holidays that we should spend time doing something together. There was to be no television and no Internet.
We reached Bukit Bendera the following day, and then wandered around the town for the remainder of the afternoon, visiting our favorite shops. We were drinking tea in a cafe when we heard someone discussing an earthquake off Sumatra, an Indonesian island. After we returned to our hotel, we left for the beach. We went for a stroll on the beach, collecting shells along the way. When I looked up, I could see that the sunlight was more brilliant than I had imagined. Far away, I could see a big tree shaking under the sunlight. We didn’t think anything terrible was going to happen. All of a sudden, I realized something weird. It was as if the sea was moving away from the coast. I called my dad to check on this strange event. My dad took a look and his face went pale. In the distance we could see a gray line approaching the coast. It seemed to grow taller by the second.
