Period 1 教案
Teaching objectives:
Knowledge: Students can master the new words and expressions in this period.
Ability: Ss' listening, speaking and writing abilities can be improved
while learning this unit.
Emotion: Ss can get to know the importance of the great inventions.
They should also try to create in the future after learning this unit.
Key points:
① new words such as camera, watch, invent, invention and travel.
② new patterns (... is a great invention. People can ...)
Difficult points:
Ss can use the new patterns to express the great inventions they think in the world.

Teaching procedures:
1) Lead-in
① Teacher guides Ss to watch a video about modern China. While watching, Ss try to find out the new things they can see in it. For example, the planes, the computers and the tall buildings.
② Teacher asks "What can you see in the video " Then teacher tells that these things are great inventions.
2) Pre-task preparations
① Ss guess the riddles about different great inventions such as paper and car.
② T displays the riddles and the pictures of the key words "camera" and "watch" one by one. Ss guess and get to know the correct meanings and pronunciations of them.
③ Reading practice (catch the pictures)
3) While-task procedures
① Matching game: Ss watch the videos about the text and then match the 3 children with their great invention (Pad). After matching, the whole class check the answers.
② Listen and fill in the blanks: Ss listen and try to get the three great inventions and their usages.
③ Ss read the text individually and look for the answer of the question "What does Joe want to invent "
④ Ss watch the video again and this time they read after the teacher in the whole class.
4) Post-task activities
① Retell the text: Ss read the text again. After reading, they try to use the pictures, the hints and the sentences displaying on the screen to retell the text.
They should use the patterns "I think ... is a great invention. People can ...".
② Group discussion: Ss use the pad to drag the descriptions of other inventions. They can talk and check the answers with their group members. After discussion, Ss' answers will be shared on the screen.
③ Check the answer and evaluation.
5) Summary:
Ss make summaries according to the blackboard. Teacher guides Ss to know the importance of the great inventions. Teacher also stimulates Ss to create new inventions when they grow up.
6) Homework:
Read the text correctly and fluently.
Search more information about great inventions on the internet. Make notes.
Write a short passage about one great inventions you think on the paper. We'll share next time.
