What impressed me was that although the difficulties added to the mental challenge, they still could maintain a positive state of mind and had a strong belief that he would do his best to save them.
I felt very happy when I learnt that the whole crew survived. This was due to Shackleton’s perseverance in getting help and the crew’s bravery in surviving for so long. They are very positive as they must have struggled greatly in such a position of adversity.

Faced with adversity
语篇导读:遭遇逆境时,我们该以怎样的态度去面对呢?
(引入) We all have stories about facing adversity (逆境) in our lives. I could write for days about many different situations where adversity challenged my life. Let me tell you one experience where I almost let adversity win.

详叙经历 We had a glass studio. A couple of years ago we experienced an awful(:very bad or unpleasant )winter we had a lot of snow and ice. The weight of the ice and snow collapsed (使倒塌) the roof on our studio. Before it did collapse(助动词+do 用来强调谓语), we got on the roof and tried to remove the snow and ice, but it was pretty difficult to do. We had moved a lot of our goods and tools from the studio工作室 but we lost a lot also.
详叙经历 Here we were in the middle of winter with our studio collapsed. We couldn't work as因为 we had piled (堆) all the material in a building we were not using. We could have done one of two things: we could simply say that we can no longer continue our glass business; or, we could find a way to get our studio back up and running.
We picked the second option. We had a large barn谷仓 that we were not using. So we repaired the barn, redesigned our working area and today we have a nicer studio than we previously had. If the adversity we faced had not happened, we probably would still be working in the old studio — a studio that was less efficient (有效的).
para.3 感悟 My point in sharing our experience with you is this: don't be afraid of adversity. While it is discouraging, look at it as an opportunity. Think of different ways to overcome the adversity. How we respond to adversity will determine our success and our happiness in life. May you find adversity in your life that will make you stronger, more determined, and allow your creativity to find ways to overcome it for the better.
