Why is the population of dolphins(海豚) growing smaller and smaller
Dr. Janet Mann and Dr. Jana Watson-Capps are scientists. They wanted to know why almost half of the baby dolphins die and how mother dolphins help to keep them alive.
The scientists had two ideas. The babies live in Shark Bay(海湾), home to many sharks(鲨鱼). Maybe sharks eat them. The scientists also noticed that some babies seem weak. Maybe they die because of that.
The scientists found sharks are less dangerous to dolphins than people thought. Mother dolphins are good at making sharks turn away from their babies. Dolphins swim better than sharks and can easily get away from sharks. Also, dolphins do other things to protect their babies. The Shark Bay is full of sharks in spring and summer, when the water is warm and mother dolphins rest in shallow(浅 的 ) water instead of in deep water, where they can easily see sharks coming. Baby dolphins rest with their mothers because it is safe.
The scientists also found mothers take special care of weak babies. They spend more time under their mothers than the strong ones. The scientists call this the “baby position” because only babies that are still nursing swim under their mothers like that.
The scientists were able to show that when baby dolphins die, it is usually because they are weak, not because sharks eat them. Mother dolphins do their best to help their babies.

If you look carefully at the plants around you, you will find that there are two kinds of plants: flowering plants and non-flowering plants. 60 The seeds are protected by the fruits. Some fruits have one seed, some have two, and some have many seeds. 61 An example of a fruit without seeds is the banana fruit.
Most non-flowering plants do not grow from seeds. Many of them grow from spores (孢子). Spores are very small. 62 We may say that spores are quite the same as seeds. When these spores fall on wet and shady places, they usually grow into new plants.

Most Chinese parents have great expectations (期望) of their children. When children were born, their parents have planned everything for them. It is common for parents to want their children to be successful. However, many children in China are unhappy. They live a planned life and are forced to achieve the dreams that their parents failed to achieve when they were young.
In my opinion, the expectations can encourage children to work harder for a better life.
According to some studies, whether a child will be successful or not depends largely on his or her parents expectations. However, unrealistic (不切实际的) expectations can be harmful to children. Every child has his or her own thoughts and hobbies. Parents’ unrealistic expectations can take children’s freedom away. Wise parents allow their children to have some freedom. They encourage their children to do things they like to do and never judge them by their grades.
My parents’ expectations of me are to be happy, kind and healthy They never put too much pressure on me, and I live a happy life. However I have my own dreams. I keep working hard, though my parents do not force me to do so. I will never lose heart because my parents always encourage me when I am in trouble.
In a word, I think parents’ expectations are needed. However, parents should not give their children too much pressure. Instead, give them enough freedom. Parents must make sure their expectations of their children are realistic so that their children will not lose their self-confidence.
63.Children live a planned life and are asked to that their parents didn’t realize when they were young.

When I was a child, my parents often read to me. I read an e-book or paper book about history every week. Thanks to them, I became interested in reading. And now I like reading in the libraries in my spare time. Through reading, I learn so many history stories that I can get good grades in my history exams. Every time I finish reading a book I feel very relaxed and enjoyable. It’s reading that makes me better. I hope everyone can join a reading program to keep good reading habits. At the same time, we should read more books and read good books. Finally, you can share your thoughts with each other.
Reading is a lifelong journey. I will read more and more books to open my eyes.
