本节课在谈论女排“冠军归来”的同时，还谈论了女排的得与失、女排精神随时代的转变、夺冠精神在竞技体育中的多重含义。女排精神作为我国的一面时代旗帜，早已不单单是一项体育运动的“夺冠”精神，而是一种即使失败，也依然能够坚持不懈、坚定战斗的精神。女排精神不是“不会输”，不是“不能输”，更不是“不敢输”，而是“不怕输”，并且无论跌倒过多少次，也依然会在舆论的漩涡中顽强地站起来。通过这篇课文的学习，学生不仅能够学到如何用生动的语言描写体育赛事，也能在主题语境下充分感受到女排精神、体育精神的意义，让他们懂得如何将“更快、更高、更强”的体育精神贯彻到自己生活的方方面面。
