Text Review
There have been so many different styles of Western art over the
centuries. Here, let's look at the brief introduction of Western art.
During the Middle Ages 1._when artists were not interested in
paining realistic scenes, the main aim of Western art was
2._to teach(teach)people about Christianity.Their works were often
primitive and two-dimensional.
During the Renaissance, new ideas and values 3.gradually_(gradual)
replaced old ones from the Middle Ages.Painters began to concentrate
less on 4._religious_(religion)themes and adopt a more humanistic
attitude 5.to/towardslife.One important breakthrough during this period
was the use of perspective, and another innovation was the use of oil
points.
Text Review
Because of them, some of the best oil 6.paintings(painting)look like
photographs.
Western art developed slowly until the invention of photography in
the mid-19th century.Painters had to find 7.a
new way of
looking at their art.From this,Impressionism 8.emerged_(emerge).
While many Impressionists painted scenes of nature or daily life,
others focused on people.
After Impressionism, subsequent artists began to ask what art is.
Some tried to analyze the shapes 9.existing_(exist)in the natural
world but in a new way.Meanwhile, some turned to abstract art.
Maybe,no one can predict 10.what painting styles will be like in
the future.
