(2023·新高考I卷)Personal Forgiveness
Taking responsibility for mistakes is a positive step, but don’t beat yourself up about them. To err (犯错) is human. 36 You can use the following writing exercise to help you do this.
In a journal or on a piece of paper, put the heading “Personal strengths.” 37 Are you caring Creative Generous A good listener Fun to be around They don’t have to be world-changing, just aspects of your personality that you’re proud of.
At the top of a second page, put the heading “Acts of kindness.” On this one, list all the positive things you’ve done for others. It might be the time when you helped a friend with their homework, when you did the ironing without being asked, or when you baked cookies after the family had had a tiring day. 38
You could ask a friend or family member to help add to your list. 39 That way, you could exchange thoughts on what makes each of you special and the aspects of your personality that shine through. In fact, don’t wait until you’ve made a mistake to try this—it’s a great way to boost self-confidence at any time.
It’s something of a cliché (陈词滥调) that most people learn not from their successes but their mistakes. The thing is, it’s true. 40 We’ re all changing and learning all the time and mistakes are a positive way to develop and grow.
A. A little self-forgiveness also goes a long way.
B. Now list all the characteristics you like about yourself.

D. It’s just as important to show yourself some forgiveness.
E. It doesn’t mean you have to ignore what’s happened or forget it.

36.根据空前内容“Taking responsibility for mistakes is a positive step, but don’t beat yourself up about them. To err (犯错) is human.(为错误承担责任是积极的一步,但不要因此而自责。人孰能无过。)”可知,作者认为人都会犯错,勇于承担责任固然重要,但是也不要因此而过于自责。结合空后“You can use the following writing exercise to help you do this.(你可以使用下面的写作练习来帮助你做到这一点。)” D“It’s just as important to show yourself some forgiveness.(宽恕自己也同样重要。)”
37.根据空前内容“In a journal or on a piece of paper, put the heading “Personal strengths. ”(在日记或纸上写上“个人优点”。)”以及空后内容“Are you caring Creative Generous A good listener Fun to be around They don’t have to be world-changing, just aspects of your personality that you’re proud of.(你有爱心吗?有创造力吗?你慷慨吗?是一个好的倾听者?与人相处很有趣吗?它们不一定要改变世界,只要你个性中让你感到自豪的方面就行。)”可知,空处指的是列出一些你个性中的优点。选项B“Now list all the characteristics you like about yourself.(现在列出所有你喜欢的自己身上的特点。)”
38.根据上文内容“At the top of a second page, put the heading “Acts of kindness.” On this one, list all the positive things you’ve done for others. It might be the time when you helped a friend with their homework, when you did the ironing without being asked, or when you baked cookies after the family had had a tiring day.(在第二页的顶部,写上“善举”的标题。在这张单子上,列出你为别人做过的所有积极的事情。它可能是当你帮助朋友做作业的时候,当你没有被要求却主动熨衣服的时候,或者当你在家人累了一天之后烤饼干的时候。)”可知,本段主要讲述的是列出一些自己所做的好事。选项F“Whatever it is, no matter how small it might seem, write it down.(不管是什么,不管它看起来有多小,都要把它写下来。)”
39.根据空后内容“That way, you could exchange thoughts on what makes each of you special and the aspects of your personality that shine through.(这样,你们就可以交换意见,谈谈是什么让你们每个人都与众不同,以及你们个性中闪光的方面。)” C“They might even like to have a go at doing the exercise.(他们甚至可能想试一试做练习。)”符合语境,C项中的“they”与空前的“You could ask a friend or family member to help add to your list.(你可以让朋友或家人帮你增加你的列表内容。)”中的“a friend or family member”保持一致,同时选项C和下文“In fact, don’t wait until you’ve made a mistake to try this—it’s a great way to boost self-confidence at any time.(事实上,不要等到你犯了错误才去尝试这个——这是一个在任何时候都能增强自信的好方法。)”
40.根据空前内容“It’s something of a cliché (陈词滥调) that most people learn not from their successes but their mistakes. The thing is, it’s true.(大多数人不是从他们的成功中学习,而是从他们的错误中学习,这是陈词滥调。但事实是,这是真的。)”可知,作者认为人是从错误中学习。选项G“Whatever the mistake, remember it isn’t a fixed aspect of your personality.(不管你犯了什么错误,记住这不是你性格中固定的一面。)”符合语境,G项中的“isn’t a fixed aspect of your personality”和空后内容“We’ re all changing and learning all the time and mistakes are a positive way to develop and grow.(我们一直在改变和学习,错误是一种积极的发展和成长的方式。)”

(2022·新高考I卷)Fitness Magazine recently ran an article titled “Five Reasons to Thank Your Workout Partner.” One reason was: “You’ll actually show up if you know someone is waiting for you at the gym, ” while another read: “ 36 ” With a workout partner, you will increase your training effort as there is a subtle (微妙) competition.
So, how do you find a workout partner
First of all, decide what you want from that person. 37 Or do you just want to be physically fit, able to move with strength and flexibility Think about the exercises you would like to do with your workout partner.
You might think about posting what you are looking for on social media, but it probably won’t result in a useful response. 38 If you plan on working out in a gym, that person must belong to the same gym.
My partner posted her request on the notice board of a local park. Her notice included what kind of training she wanted to do, how many days a week and how many hours she wanted to spend on each session, and her age. It also listed her favorite sports and activities, and provided her phone number. 39
You and your partner will probably have different skills. 40 Over time, both of you will benefit — your partner will be able to lift more weights and you will become more physically fit. The core (核心) of your relationship is that you will always be there to help each other.
A. Your first meeting may be a little awkward.
B. A workout partner usually needs to live close by.
C. You’ll work harder if you train with someone else.
D. Do you want to be a better athlete in your favorite sport
E. How can you write a good “seeking training partner” notice
F. Just accept your differences and learn to work with each other.
G. Any notice for a training partner should include such information.
C37. D38. B39. G40. F
36. C。根据前文“Fitness Magazine recently ran an article titled “Five Reasons to Thank Your Workout Partne.” One reason was: “You’ll actually show up if you know someone is waiting for you at the gym,”(《健身杂志》最近刊登了一篇题为《感谢健身伙伴的五个理由》的文章。一个理由是:“如果你知道有人在健身房等你,你就会去锻炼。”)”可知,这里陈述另一个和别人一起锻炼的理由。所以选择项C“You'll work harder if you train with someone else.(如果你和别人一起训练,你会更努力。)”
37. D。根据前文“First of all, decide what you want from that person. (首先,决定你想从那个人身上得到什么。)”和后文“Or do you just want to be physically fit, able to move with strength and flexibility (或者你只是想要身体健康,能够移动的力量和灵活性 )”可知,这里是一个问句,反问自己结伴锻炼的目的。 D“Do you want to be a better athlete in your favorite sport (你想在你最喜欢的运动项目上成为更好的运动员吗 )”符合上下文语境。故选D。
38. B。根据前文“You might think about posting what you are looking for on social media, but probably won't result in a useful response. (锻炼伙伴通常需要住在附近。)”符合上下文语境。故选B。
39. G。根据前文“My partner posted her request on the notice board of a local park. (我的搭档把她的要求贴在了当地公园的布告栏上。她的注意事项包括她想要做什么样的锻炼,每周多少天,每次培训要花多少小时,以及她的年龄。它还列出了她最喜欢的运动和活动,并提供了她的电话号码。)”可知,本段作者以自己的锻炼伙伴为例,说明寻找锻炼伙伴布告所要包括的信息。所以选择项G“Any notice for a training partner should include such information. (任何锻炼伙伴的布告都应包括这些信息。)”符合上下文语境。故选G。
40. F。根据前文“You and your partner will probably have different skills. (你和你的伴侣可能有不同的技能。)”和后文“Over time, both of you will benefit -- your partner will be able to lift more weights and you will become more physically fit.(久而久之,你们双方都会受益——你的伴侣会举起更多的重量,你也会变得更健康。)” F“Just accept your differences and learn to work with each other. (2021·新高考I卷)My husband and I just spent a week in Paris. 36 So the first thing we did was rent a fantastically expensive sixth-floor apartment the size of a cupboard. It was so tiny that we had to leave our suitcases in the hallway.
The place wasn’t entirely authentic, though. Unlike a normal Parisian apartment, the plumbing (水管) worked. 37 Our building even had a tiny lift with a female voice that said, “Ouverture des portes,” in perfect French. That is the only French phrase I mastered, and it’s a shame I don’t have much use for it.
Parisians are different from you and me. They never look lazy or untidy. As someone noted in this paper a couple of weeks ago, they eat great food and never gain weight. 38 French strawberries do not taste like cardboard. Instead, they explode in your mouth like little flavor bombs.
39 On our first morning in Paris, I went around the corner to the food market to pick up some groceries. I bought a handful of perfectly ripe small strawberries and a little sweet melon. My husband and I agreed they were the best fruit we had ever eaten. But they cost $18!
In France, quality of life is much more important than efficiency (效率). You can tell this by café life. French cafés are always crowded. 40 When do these people work The French take their 35-hour workweek seriously — so seriously that some labor unions recently struck a deal with a group of companies limiting the number of hours that independent contractors can be on call.
A. Not all the customers are tourists.
B. The quality of life in France is equally excellent.
C. There was a nice kitchen and a comfortable bed.
D. The amazing food is mainly consumed by local farmers.
E. That’s not the only reason the French eat less than we do.
F. Our aim was to see if we could live, in some way, like real Parisians.
G. The food is so delicious that you don’t need much of it to make you happy.
36.下文“So the first thing we did was rent a fantastically expensive sixth-floor apartment the size of a cupboard.(所以我们做的第一件事就是租了一个非常昂贵公寓,在第六层,只有一个橱柜那么大)”说明作者和丈夫采取行动,租了昂贵的公寓,F项“我们的目标是看看我们是否在某种程度上能像真正的巴黎人那样生活。”
38.下文“French strawberries do not taste like cardboard. Instead, they explode in your mouth like little flavor bombs.(法国草莓尝起来不像纸板。相反,它们会像小炸弹一样在你嘴里爆炸)”说明法国的草莓很美味,G项中delicious是关键词,G项“食物是如此美味,你不需要吃太多就能使你快乐”引出下文,符合题意。故选G项。
39.下文“My husband and I agreed they were the best fruit we had ever eaten. But they cost $18!(我丈夫和我都认为这是我们吃过的最好的水果。但它们要18美元!)”说明法国的水果好吃但是很贵,E项“这并不是法国人吃得比我们少的唯一原因”承接上文法国人吃的少但是不胖的话题,并引出下文,说明法国人吃的少的另一个原因“物价昂贵”。故选E项。
40.上文“In France, quality of life is much more important than efficiency (效率). You can tell this by cafés life. French cafés are always crowded. (在法国生活质量比效率更重要。这一点你能从咖啡馆生活看出来。法国的咖啡厅总是很拥挤)”说明了法国人会去咖啡馆,认为生活质量比效率更重要,以及下文“When do these people work (这些人什么时候工作?)”说明咖啡馆中的顾客有法国人,A项中customer符合咖啡馆的情境设定,A项“并不是所有的顾客都是游客。”承上启下,符合题意。故选A项。

Tennis is an incredibly mental sport. 1 But it is also an incredibly difficult sport to play well.
It is very easy to self-destruct (自我毁灭) when playing tennis if you let your expectations and ego get the better of you. So, simply playing the ball that is in front of you is the simplest way to approach the game, along with taking each point at a time.
That being said, it is much easier said than done. 2 Even if it is as simple as playing to your opponent’s backhand as much as possible, or aiming to hit as many cross court (对角线球) balls as you can, it is important to have a plan of attack if you want to be successful on the court.
3 You may have the best plan in the world, but if you aren’t performing well enough to execute it or your opponent cottons on (领悟) what you’re trying to do, you’ll need to adapt, improvise and overcome. Adapting to new conditions, court surfaces, balls and playing styles is all part of becoming a better tennis player!
4 This means you need to be incredibly resilient (坚韧的) to play good tennis and overcome hardship. Don’t be too much bothered by some points you lose. Just learn from your mistakes but not let them get you down.
Tennis is also about playing the big points well and understanding that not all points hold the same weight across the course of a match. Putting disappointment behind you and trying to play the next point with a positive attitude can be very difficult to do. 5
A. However, being flexible is also important.
B. You will always have to have some form of strategy.
C. However, it is a key part of becoming a better tennis player.
D. It can bring with it a whole host of physical and mental benefits.
E. Every backhand shot you hit is what you throw at your opponent.
F. Perhaps the most obvious benefits tennis offers are the physical ones.
G. The scoring system in tennis means you can win more points and still lose a match!
D 2. B 3. A 4. G 5. C
以及下文“But it is also an incredibly difficult sport to play well.”(但这也是一项非常困难的运动。) It can bring with it a whole host of physical and mental benefits.(它可以带来一系列的身体和精神上的好处。)
2. 根据上文“That being said, it is much easier said than done.”(话虽如此,说起来容易做起来难。) 以及下文“Even if it is as simple as playing to your opponent’s backhand as much as possible, or aiming to hit as many cross court (对角线球) balls as you can, it is important to have a plan of attack if you want to be successful on the court.”(即使是尽可能多地打对手的反手球,或者尽可能多地打交叉球这样简单的事情,如果你想在球场上取得成功,有一个进攻计划是很重要的。) You will always have to have some form of strategy.(你总是需要某种形式的策略。)
该段下文“You may have the best plan in the world, but if you aren’t performing well enough to execute it or your opponent cottons on (领悟) what you’re trying to do, you’ll need to adapt, improvise and overcome. Adapting to new conditions, court surfaces, balls and playing styles is all part of becoming a better tennis player!”(你可能有世界上最好的计划,但是如果你的表现不够好,或者你的对手不知道你想要做什么,你就需要适应、即兴发挥和克服。 However, being flexible is also important.(然而,灵活性也很重要。) 故选A项。
4. 根据下文“This means you need to be incredibly resilient to play good tennis and overcome hardship. Don’t be too much bothered by some points you lose. Just learn from your mistakes but not let them get you down.”(这意味着你需要非常有韧性才能打好网球,克服困难。 The scoring system in tennis means you can win more points and still lose a match!(网球的计分系统意味着你可以赢得更多的分数,但仍然会输掉比赛!)
5. 根据上文“Putting disappointment behind you and trying to play the next point with a positive attitude can be very difficult to do.”(把失望抛在脑后,努力以积极的态度打下一分,这是很难做到的。) However, it is a key part of becoming a better tennis player.(然而,这是成为一个更好的网球运动员的关键部分。)

What comes to mind when you think about chocolate A candy bar at Halloween Ice cream on a hot day
For Ibrahim, a 12-year-old boy from the West African country of Ghana, chocolate is not about sweet treats; it is about bitter work. 6 But if they did, we would learn that Ibrahim spends his days growing and harvesting cocoa beans, from which chocolate is made. We would also learn that he is just one of more than two million children who perform this difficult labour instead of attending school.
To change the harmful practices like this, some farms use an approach called Fairtrade. 7 It aims to create a different relationship between buyers (chocolate companies) and sellers (cocoa farmers) by encouraging farmers to join together to form a shared business called a cooperative. Because farmers work together instead of competing with each other, they can demand a higher price from the buyers. 8
Consumers like you can play a role as well. You can buy Fairtrade chocolate if possible, pressure candy companies to change their labour practices, or ask local stores to sell Fairtrade products. 9 It is a programme recognizing schools that provide Fairtrade products in cafeterias or include related lessons in curriculum (课程).
Chocolate has a hidden story that affects children like Ibrahim—children who want a happy future just like you do. 10 By enjoying Fairtrade products or simply spreading the word, you can make chocolate as sweet for all children as it is for you.
A. You have the power to change the story.
B. The labels on chocolate do not tell his story.
C. Fairtrade is a way of doing business that prohibits child labour.
D. You can also take action through the Fairtrade Schools network.
E. On many farms, children like Ibrahim perform difficult farming tasks.
F. Cocoa trees grow in the tropical climates of Africa, Latin America and South-East Asia.
G. With more income, farmers can pay adult workers and can send their children to school.
B 7. C 8. G 9. D 10. A
6. 上文“For Ibrahim, a 12-year-old boy from the West African country of Ghana, chocolate is not about sweet treats; it is about bitter work. (对于来自西非国家加纳的12岁男孩易卜拉欣来说,巧克力并不是甜食,而是甜点。这是关于艰苦的工作。)”指出制作巧克力是12岁男孩Ibrahim的艰辛工作,下文“But if they did, we would learn that Ibrahim spends his days growing and harvesting cocoa beans, from which chocolate is made. (但如果它们是这样,我们就会了解到易卜拉欣每天都在种植和收获可可豆,然后用可可豆制成巧克力)”是一种假设,由此可知,空处应用与下文内容相反,应该介绍我们无法了解到Ibrahim的情况,B项“巧克力上的标签并没有讲述他的故事。”符合,下文的they代指The labels on chocolate,故选B。
7. 上文“To change the harmful practices like this, some farms use an approach called Fairtrade. (为了改变这样的有害做法,一些农场采用了一种称为Fairtrade的方法。)”指出为了严禁雇佣儿童,一些农场使用了叫做Fairtrade的方法,空处承接上文,对此方法进行介绍,C项“Fairtrade是一种禁止童工的经营方式。”符合,故选C。
8. 上文“Because farmers work together instead of competing with each other, they can demand a higher price from the buyers.(由于农民共同工作而不是相互竞争,他们可以向买家索要更高的价格。)”
9. 上文“Consumers like you can play a role as well. You can buy Fairtrade chocolate if possible, pressure candy companies to change their labour practices, or ask local stores to sell Fairtrade products.(像你这样的消费者也可以发挥作用。如果可能的话,你可以购买公平贸易巧克力,向糖果公司施加压力,要求其改变劳工惯例,或者要求当地商店销售公平贸易产品。)”可知,许多儿童从事艰巨劳动而不能上学,对此消费者可以发挥一些作用来帮助他们,上文具体提出了消费者可以做的事,空处也应是具体措施,D项“你还可以通过公平贸易学校网络采取行动。”符合,故选D。
10. 上文“Chocolate has a hidden story that affects children like Ibrahim-children who want a happy future just like you do. (巧克力有一个隐藏的故事,影响着像易卜拉欣这样的孩子——他们和你一样想要幸福的未来。)”可知,从事艰巨劳动而不能上学的儿童和你一样也想要幸福的未来,下文“By enjoying Fairtrade products or simply spreading the word, you can make chocolate as sweet for all children as it is for you.(通过买公平贸易产品或只是传播这个信息,你可以让巧克力对所有孩子来说都像对你一样甜。)”

(2024·江苏南通·统考一模)Learning how to apologize is similar to learning any new behavior. It may feel awkward and may not be polished at first. 11 There are several tips that will help you as you learn how to apologize.
First of all, wait until the right time and you are in the right place. Although public apology is often appropriate, discretion (谨慎) should be used. 12 Remember, you will be raising a topic that may recall a bad experience or bad feelings. Be respectful as you approach this task.
Be direct and brief in your approach. Acknowledge the fact that injury has occurred and then take responsibility for what happened. Be sincere in expressing your regret and demonstrate your willingness to take ownership of the situation. 13
Even if you follow these steps, be prepared for rejection. Sometimes, the person apologizing has an expectation that the apology will lead to immediate forgiveness and acceptance. 14 If you think of the offense (冒犯) as an emotional bruise (瘀伤), think of the healing process as the color changes we see as a bruise heals.
15 Knowing when to keep one’s mouth shut is a virtue. Keeping quiet may be very difficult, as post-apology listening is not easy. We may hear unpleasant observations from another about our own shortcomings. We may hear the expression of anger. One of the ways we let others know we are truly responsible and accountable for our mistakes is by listening to the other party pour out the feelings associated with our actions.
A. Forgiveness and acceptance may take time.
B. To give or receive a good apology is an art.
C. But with practice, everyone can learn to do it.
D. Listening to the response to our apologies is important.
E. Most apologies can and should happen in a private setting.
F. In other words, avoid excuses and offer to repair the damage.
G. Taking responsibility doesn’t mean accepting blame for everything.

12. 上文“First of all, wait until the right time and you are in the right place. Although public apology is often appropriate, discretion (谨慎) should be used.(首先,等到合适的时间和地点。尽管公开道歉通常是合适的,但仍应谨慎行事。)”指出公开道歉需要谨慎行事,要等到合适的时间和地点,空处承接上文,E项“大多数道歉可以而且应该在私人场合进行。”符合,具体介绍了在什么地点适合公开道歉,故选E。

14. 上文“Even if you follow these steps, be prepared for rejection. Sometimes, the person apologizing has an expectation that the apology will lead to immediate forgiveness and acceptance.(即使您遵循这些步骤,也要做好被拒绝的准备。有时,道歉的人期望道歉会立即得到原谅和接受。)”可知,要做好被拒绝的准备,道歉的人期望会立即得到原谅且被接受,但是原谅和接受是需要时间的,A项“原谅和接受可能需要时间。”符合,承接上文,故选A。

Realizing how your physical health affects the mind
21 And there have been some remarkable discoveries in the research. The brain scans have shown that our brain processes “psychological” pain, such as the kind that arises out of social exclusion (社会排斥), in the same way it does physical pain. In fact, you can even take an aspirin for that kind of pain.
These are cases in point. 22 And if you have a bad night’s sleep, everything is more stressful the next day. While you are easier to stress when you are feeling down, the flip side (反面) is that you can fight it by looking after your body.
It is now common knowledge that physical exercise, in addition to therapy, helps to reduce depression. Besides, a healthy sleeping pattern also offers protection against all kinds of psychological disorders. 23
Rethinking the value of rest
When you decide to do something about your stress levels, try to rethink the value of rest. Usually the first step is to take better care of your body. 24 Moreover, moments of rest and relaxation ought to occupy a more important place in our lives. These important moments should not be regarded as a kind of “breather” in between jobs, but as a natural and key part of our life.
Rest is actually crucial to our well-being and is good for both body and mind. We all need at least a little time to think, to reflect on life and even just do nothing. 25 We need to see it as a crucial time to build up our reserves. It is only when we fully embrace (拥抱) rest that we will be able to take a stand against stress and burnout.

Building Up Your Empathy
Empathy is the ability to understand and emotionally engage with others. It is viewed as the fundamental social glue and main psychological mechanism, which enables us to relate to each other, maintain social relations and create a more sympathetic world. 26 . It is a skill that can be developed and strengthened over time. Here are some tips on how to build up your empathy.
Practice active listening
Listening is one of the most effective ways you can demonstrate empathy to other people. Active listening requires three things. To begin with, paraphrase what the person said to show that you understood the content. 27 , because it helps the person better understand and regulate their own emotions. Finally, indicate how your response makes you want to behave, because again you are demonstrating that you understand their emotional state and helping them figure out a behavior to move forward with.
Challenge your prejudices and assumptions
Ask yourself why you think that all poor people are lazy, or all people with mental health issues are dangerous. A lot of assumptions and prejudices are based on misinformation that has become widespread. 28 .
Treat people as being important
Recognize that you aren’t the only one living in this world and that you aren’t some superior being. 29 . Don’t lump (合并) them into stereotypical (刻板印象的) groups with erroneous one-size-fits-all labels. Each person is an individual and comes with a set of flaws and strengths.
30
This means getting a direct experience of another person’s life, the “walk a mile in another person’s shoes” proverb. You don’t have to go quite that far, but consider taking on all the things that your mother does in a day for an entire week. You’ll discover how difficult it is to manage both the home and work, and you’ll have a better appreciation for how much work she has to do. You may even decide to pitch in a bit more.
In conclusion, building up your empathy takes time and effort, but it is worth it. So start practicing today and make a positive impact on the world around you.
A. Practice experiential empathy
B. Leave each person as they are
C. Practice gratitude and appreciation
D. Take each person as they come
E. Reflect on your emotional reaction as well
F. However, empathy is not something we are born with
G. Educate yourself and listen to the groups that are affected by this misinformation
F 27. E 28. G 29. D 30. A
26. 根据下文“It is a skill that can be developed and strengthened over time.( 这是一种可以随着时间的推移而发展和加强的技能。)”可推理出上文说的是同理心不是天生的,与F项“However, empathy is not something we are born with(然而,同理心不是我们天生的)”表达的含义一致,故选F项。
27. 根据下文“because it helps the person better understand and regulate their own emotions.( 因为它有助于人们更好地理解和调节自己的情绪。)”

A lot of assumptions and prejudices are based on misinformation that has become widespread.( 问问自己,为什么你认为所有穷人都很懒惰,或者所有有心理健康问题的人都很危险。
29. 根据下文“Don’t lump (合并) them into stereotypical (刻板印象的) groups with erroneous one-size-fits-all labels. Each person is an individual and comes with a set of flaws and strengths(不要将他们归入刻板印象中,贴上错误的“一刀切”的标签。每个人都是独立的个体,都有一系列的缺点和优点。)”可推理出此处上下文说的是要以平常心对待每一个人,与D项“Take each person as they come(以平常心对待每个人)”表达的含义一致,故选D项。
30. 空格处是本段的小标题,根据下文“This means getting a direct experience of another person’s life, the “walk a mile in another person’s shoes” proverb. You don’t have to go quite that far, but consider taking on all the things that your mother does in a day for an entire week. (这意味着直接体验他人的生活,这就是“设身处地走一英里”的谚语。你不必走那么远,但可以考虑在一周内承担你母亲一天所做的所有事情。)”可知本段主要讲的是要对同理心进行练习,与A项“Practice experiential empathy(练习体验式同理心)”表达的含义一致,故选A 项。

(2023上·江苏徐州·高三徐州市第七中学校考阶段练习)There are several reasons to use canvas (帆布) grocery bags or reusable grocery bags made from other materials. 36 They point out reusable bags can be a small change with a big difference.
From an environmental perspective, canvas grocery bags are better choices than paper or plastic bags. 37 Besides, turning to reusable supplies is viewed as greener than using disposable (一次性的) products, many of which wind up in landfills because a community lacks the ability to recycle them.
Plastic grocery bags have a number of environmental drawbacks. When plastic grocery bags end up in the natural environment, they can cause a wide range of problems. Animals may choke on or be trapped in such bags. 38 While the bags may eventually break down, they can poison a large number of sea creatures along the way. Paper bags will biodegrade much more quickly, but they still require the use of timber, a resource which some people would prefer to see left in forests
It may be upsetting to lose a batch of groceries due to a poorly-constructed grocery bag 39 . They can also be easily washed in the event of leaks.
40 For example, they can be used to pick up books at the library or carry other shopping, and they make great beach bags because of their wash ability. For people who don’t want to carry a grocery store logo, canvas grocery bags can be turned inside out and left plain or painted with new designs, and some companies sell plain bags which people can dye or decorate to taste.
A. Many grocery stores carry canvas grocery bags.
B. You only have to buy a canvas grocery bag once.
C. However, canvas grocery bags can hold more weight.
D. Canvas grocery bags have uses beyond the grocery store.
E. What’s worse, plastic can stay in the ocean for thousands of years.
F. Canvas is more environmentally friendly to produce than paper or plastic.
G. Some environmental organizations have been pushing for the use of such bags.

Animals may choke on or be trapped in such bags. 第二句为具体陈述塑料购物袋的第一个弊端,下文“While the bags may eventually break down, they can poison a wide range of sea creatures along the way. What’s worse, plastic can stay in the ocean for thousands of years.(更糟糕的是,塑料可以在海洋中停留数千年),其中plastic为复现词,陈述了塑料购物袋在海洋环境不利,故本段具体陈述了塑料袋导致的3个环境问题,上下文衔接连贯,故选E项。
39. 上文“It may be upsetting to lose a batch of groceries due to a poorly-constructed grocery bag.(如果因为购物袋的构造不好而丢失了一批杂货,这可能会让人心烦意乱)”可知,本段说明了有的购物袋不结实,C项:However, canvas grocery bags can hold much more weight than regular ones.

Your life, family, business and possessions are all under an unpredictable threat that may strike without any considerable warning.(任何人都可能经历自然灾害和经济灾害。 和后文“Read on this guide to save yourself from any disaster, natural or financial.(读一读这篇指南,让你从任何灾难中拯救自己,无论是自然灾害还是经济灾难。)”
42. 根据前文“When the economy is facing a great recession (衰退), many people will lose their jobs.(当经济面临大衰退时,很多人会失去工作。)”和后文“Simply plan in advance. Save as much as you can.(只需提前计划。尽可能多地存钱。)”可知,此处是指失业会导致没钱,所以选项C“显然,没有工作就意味着没有钱。”切合文意。故选C。
43. 根据前文“Always have a basement built in your house where you can hide in case there is a tornado (龙卷风). This basement will protect your family if there occurs any natural disaster. 44. 根据前文“Evacuate (疏散) as soon as possible and move to a secure place.(尽快撤离并转移到安全的地方。)”可知,此处是指要尽快撤离,不要留恋财物,所以选项B“现在不是紧握财物不放的时候。”切合文意。故选B。
45. 根据后文“You can save water, food or money. These things must come in handy to keep you alive for as long as possible.(你可以存储水、食物或金钱。这些东西一定会派上用场,让你尽可能长时间地活着。)”可知,此处是指要尽可能多地储存生存物资,所以选项F“最好的建议是尽可能多地储存以应对不可预见的危机。”切合文意。故选F。

(2023上·江苏·高三校联考阶段练习)In a world obsessed with “more” it’s easy to overlook the power of subtraction(减法). We’re constantly bombed with messages telling us that we need more stuff, more money, and more followers. 46 Let’s explore the power of subtraction, and how less can truly mean more.
We all have too much stuff. It’s time to clear up. Donate or sell what you don’t need or love. You’ll be amazed at how liberating it feels to live with less. 47 The fewer possessions you have, the more you’ll appreciate what truly matters.
In today’s fast-paced world, our attention is a valuable commodity. 48 For example, excessive social media scrolling, watching TV shows nonstop or focusing too much attention on insignificant tasks is time-consuming. Subtract these time wasters and redirect your focus toward more meaningful pursuits.
49 Assess the people in your life and determine who uplifts you and who brings you down. Identify who helps contribute to your success and who holds you back. Subtract the poisonous individuals and invest more time and energy into the friendships that genuinely enrich your life.
Our minds are often filled with worries, negative thoughts, and self-doubt. Learning to let go of this mental mess can significantly improve our overall well-being. Practice mindfulness techniques, such as yoga, to help clear your mind. 50
A. But what if more means a richer life
B. But what if less is the secret to happiness
C. Try to subtract your unhealthy habits from your life.
D. Identify meaningless activities that occupy your time.
E. We must admit not all relationships are worth keeping.
F. Embrace minimalism and focus on quality over quantity.
G. Thus, you’ll make room for more optimism and creativity.
B 47. F 48. D 49. E 50. G
46. 根据空前“In a world obsessed with “more,” it’s easy to overlook the power of subtraction(减法). We’re constantly bombed with messages telling us that we need more stuff, more money, and more followers.”(在一个痴迷于“更多”的世界里,很容易忽视减法的力量。 可知本句强调了当今生活中主流的要做“加法”的思想,根据空后“Let’s explore the power of subtraction, and how less can truly mean more.(让我们来探索减法的力量,以及如何更少才能真正意味着更多。)” But what if less is the secret to happiness
47. 根据空前“We all have too much stuff. It’s time to clear up. Donate or sell what you don’t need or love. You’ll be amazed at how liberating it feels to live with less.(我们都有太多的东西。该打扫了。捐赠或出售你不需要或不喜欢的东西。你会惊奇地发现少花钱是多么的自由。)”可知此处讲的是应该捐出或出售自己不需要或不喜欢的东西,根据空后“The fewer possessions you have, the more you’ll appreciate what truly matters.(拥有越少的东西,你越会欣赏那些真正重要的东西。)” Embrace minimalism and focus on quality over quantity.(拥抱极简主义,注重质量而不是数量。)
48. 根据空前“In today’s fast-paced world, our attention is a valuable commodity.(在当今快节奏的世界里,我们的注意力是一种宝贵的商品。)”可知此处讲的是在当今快节奏的世界里,我们的注意力是非常宝贵的,根据后文“excessive social media scrolling, watching TV shows non stop or focusing too much attention on insignificant tasks is time-consuming(过度刷社交媒体,不停地看电视节目,或者把太多的注意力集中在无关紧要的任务上,这些都很耗时。)” Identify meaningless activities that occupy your time.(找出那些占用你时间的无意义活动。)
49. 空处位于句首,应是对全段的概括,根据后文“Subtract the poisonous individuals and invest more time and energy i《备战2024年高考英语名校真题零失误规范训练》(江苏专用)

(2024上·江苏无锡·高三统考期末)Among all the stress management strategies out there we have long ignored one essential factor —rest. However, there has recently been a growing realization within psychology circles that the body and mind are deeply intertwined (缠绕) with each other.
A. This step can lead to mental relief as well.
B. Aside from sleep, a healthy diet is known to reduce stress.
C. But there have been very few discoveries concerning the topic.
D. Our mental health is determined largely by our physical condition.
E. Getting enough rest is not just something we should do when we are tired out.
F. Having a good rest is something we need to do when we are in psychological disorders.
G. You may suffer more from stress when you are feeling run down or are suffering from a flu.

What are Day-night rhythms

(2023上·江苏泰州·高三统考阶段练习)Getting negative feedback never feels good. In fact, it pretty much always sucks. Even though it feels bad, constructive feedback is meant to help us grow and improve. Here are some strategies that can help you use negative feedback constructively, leading to positive change.
66 Your instinct may be to get upset or justify yourself instantly, but it’s important to remain as professional as possible in the moment. Even when your criticizer is factually wrong, the response “You’re wrong!” won’t ever be helpful. The key is to listen without planning your reply. Simply nod until the other person has completely finished.
Recognize the good intentions. Remember, the people who will give you tough feedback are the people who really care about your success. People who tell you only what they know you want to hear don’t really care about you. 67
Don’t let it harm your confidence. Whatever you do, don’t allow negative feedback to destroy your self-esteem. 68 Whatever went wrong won’t define you forever if you apply the feedback constructively and use it to your advantage.
Practice self-affirmation. 69 It can be helpful to remind yourself of other aspects of your identity that are not in question to boost your confidence. For example, you could say: “Yes, my team thinks I’m a micromanager, but I can work on that, I am also a nice partner, committed volunteer and talented singer.’’
Set actionable goals. It can be helpful to break down the feedback into specific, actionable goals. 70 Set time to outline an action plan and timeline for each of these goals. With this, you can keep track of your progress and hold yourself accountable to your goals.
Though negative feedback may be disheartening, take the necessary steps to become an even better version of yourself.
A. Avoid reacting defensively.
B. Don’t take the feedback personally.
C. These can feel easier to work with and give you direction.
D. You don’t have to apply every piece of feedback you receive.
E. Negative feedback can sometimes make you feel like a failure.
F. It’s almost impossible to consistently do everything right all the time.
G. So instead of reacting negatively, thank those caring about you to give you honest feedback.

(2024·江苏·校联考二模)One of the cores of emotional intelligence is self-regulation, an important skill in the workplace. Like any skill, mastery of emotional self-control requires intentionality and practice. 76 .
Pause to Mentally Distance
When you notice your typical physiological experiences associated with strong negative emotion, what should you do Mentally step out of your immediate experience. Asking yourself any question, or imagining what you might look like to others right now, will do the trick. At that point, although still physiologically keyed up, you will be able to ask yourself, “What is the best course of action right now ” or “What advice would I give someone else who is in my shoes ” 77 .
Take Control of Your Self-Talk
We’re frequently unaware of how much self-chatter is going on in the background of our minds. Such self-talk might not be in fully articulated (铰接式的) words or phrases, but instead little flashes of thought. Becoming aware of your self-talk can be difficult. Why is this an important skill to develop 78 . To genuinely ease a strong negative emotion requires tackling the source by examining the underlying belief and how accurate, reasonable, or useful it is.
Seek Support from Partners

Agree on a gesture or word that might serve as a signal that your trusted individual wonders whether you’re riding the led-by-your-limbic-system train. Of course, there will be times they’re wrong. So, it’s important not to respond defensively when you get that signal. Reacting with anything other than gratitude ensures that your partner won’t take that risk again.
Cultivate (培养) Curiosity
Our brains are wired to draw conclusions and form judgments at lightning speed, and those are frequently the cause of our negative emotions. 80 , but we tend to run with them, sparking the self-talk that follows.
