As I walked home worriedly, I saw a shop sign: All Kinds of Repairs and Services! I went inside at once. I told him everything, my dream, my practice and even my dad’s words. “Dad thinks I should be an engineer or a doctor.” I lowered my head.

Have you ever dreamed of travelling all the way over the rainbow Well, it’s easier than you think. All you need to do is to book a plane ticket to Rainbow Mountain in Peru(秘鲁).
Rainbow Mountain is a beautiful natural wonder. It lies in the Andes in Cusco(库斯科的安第斯山脉). As its name suggests, the mountain has different colours.
But why is it in yellow, green, red and purple The reason is the ice that covered the area centuries ago. When it started to melt(融化), the water mixed with the minerals(矿物质) in the ground and turned the earth into many colours.
If you plan your trip to the mountain, try to go during warmer months when there is less rain or snow. Rain or snow makes the climbing more difficult and the colours will look less beautiful. The best time is from March to November, when there are blue skies and pleasant weather. At the same time, visit it in the morning or evening, either right after sunrise or right before sunset. Very sunny days may make you not take nice photos.
To get to Rainbow Mountain, you should first travel to Cusco—a province in the south of Peru. Then you can take a drive to Qesoyuno. From there you can start the journey on foot. It takes about a two-or-three-hour walk to the top. This is really the best way, but the trip is very difficult. Because the mountain sits at a very high altitude (海拔) about 5,200 meters above the sea level, so bring enough water and take your time.
How does the writer start the passage
By listing a fact. B. By asking a question.
C. By telling a story. D. By giving an example.
48. What can we learn about Rainbow Mountain
A. It has seven different colours. B. It’s a man-made wonder.
C. It was covered by ice in the past. D. It’s the most famous place of Peru.

C. On the afternoon of a snowy day in January.
D. On the morning of a sunny day in September.

C. From Cusco, it takes about 2 or 3 hours to walk to the top of Rainbow Mountain.
D. Rainbow Mountain sits at an altitude about 520 meters above the sea level.

This year 2024 is the Year of the Dragon. The dragon is a great animal in Chinese culture. It brings the wind and the rain. It is said that every year on the second day of the second lunar month, the dragon wakes up from its winter sleep and raises its head. So, the day is called “Dragon Head-raising Day” (long taitou). 56
Old people believed that after long taitou, there would be more rain. And rain is very necessary to farming. 57 People have many ways to celebrate the long taitou festival. 58 Many believe that a haircut during the first lunar month may bring bad luck to your uncles—mainly your mother’s brothers. They hope getting a haircut on long taitou keeps them away from bad luck.
59 During the long taitou festival, people eat food named after dragons. Noodles are called dragon’s beard (longxu). Dumplings are dragon’s ears (long’er). And spring rolls are dragon’s scales (longlin). 60 In some places in Shandong, people make dragon lanterns too. Small red boats go down the rivers and carry the lanterns, which stand for people’s best wishes and good luck.
This year, it falls on March 11th.
But some people don’t like the dragon.
The most popular one is to have a haircut.
So long taitou was the start of spring and farming.
People also hold activities like dragon dancing on the day.
Among Chinese festival traditions, food always plays an important role.

What’s the first thing that comes into your mind when you think of wheat straw(稻草) Most people would probably see it as a pile of waste in a farmer’s field. H 71 , Wu Cui, an intangible cultural inheritor (非遗传承人), can turn the straw into beautiful artworks.
The earliest straw-weaving(编织) products were found at Hemudu Cultural Ruins(遗迹), a Neolithic cultural site in Zhejiang Province. This d 72 means a lot to Chinese traditional culture. The Book of Rites also r 73 that there were already mats(垫子) made of grass and professional straw-weaving craftsmen during the Zhou Dynasty.
Straw weaving is a m 74 of making daily items or artworks. It was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2008.
Wu explains the process of straw weaving: choosing from materials is the f 75 step of a process that may take weeks, or even months to complete. You need to draw the piece on paper, which r 76 drawing skills. Next comes weaving, shaping and preserving of the work. Even by finishing that process, it does not mean that you will always create a good piece of work, and the h 77 part is to make it lifelike.
In the past, straw items could be found almost in every family in the countryside, in the f 78 of straw hats and straw shoes, because they were practical in everyday life. But w 79 the development of industry, many of these products are made in factories. This makes people gain little money, and there are only about 100 people joining in the work across the country.
Wu says to a news reporter that more craftsmen should work together to make a d 80 to the spread of the traditional culture. Many hands make light work.
六、读写综合(计30分)
(一)阅读并回答问题 (共5题,每小题2分,计10分)
In ancient China, Pei Ju was a government official who served during both the Sui and Tang dynasties, but he had very different reputations(名声) in these two periods.
According to historical records, Pei often flattered(奉承) Emperor Yangdi of the Sui Dynasty. He never disagreed with the emperor’s ideas even though he knew they might be wrong. Knowing that Emperor Yangdi was very warlike, Pei suggested fighting many wars. This, however, led to Sui’s downfall, because the wars cost too much.
When the Tang Dynasty was set up, Pei started to work for the new government. He seemed to become a totally different person. Instead of flattering Emperor Taizong, Pei always spoke out against his wrongs and tried his best to help Taizong make the right decisions.
Why did Pei change According to Chinese historian Sima Guang, Pei was affected by who he worked for. Emperor Yangdi hated to be criticized(批评), while Emperor Taizong loved to hear honest and direct advice.
What we can learn from the story, however, is that the conditions around may have a great influence on us. A good environment encourages you to do good acts, while a bad one may lead you to do bad things. That’s why people say “a fine bird rests only on a fine tree, and a virtuous minister only serves a virtuous master(良禽择木而栖,贤臣择主而事)”. On the other hand, the story also shows that only those who are willing to hear criticism can benefit(获益)from it. It’s good for the government officials to be open-minded and welcome honest and direct advice.
This also applies to us. Do you want fake friends who only please you but don’t care about you, or true friends who can sincerely point out your mistakes It’s up to you.
回答下面5个问题,每小题答案不超过6个词。
What was Pei Ju in ancient China
How many emperors did Pei work for

My Progress in Middle School
My three-year middle school life will be over. Looking back, I want to share my progress in middle school with you.
I have made great progress in learning English. When I entered middle school, I had great difficulty in learning English. I couldn’t remember English words and I got bad results in English tests. However, I didn’t give up. In class, I listened to my teachers carefully and spoke English as much as possible. After class, I often asked teachers and classmates for help. I also kept writing English diaries and tried to use the new grammar rules that I learned from the books. All of these have helped me a lot.
Now, I have much confidence when facing challenges. I become patient and careful. What’s more, I am not afraid to make mistakes any more.

This is the Air Museum information line. In the museum, you can see over 150 old planes. It's one of the biggest air museums in Europe. The museum is 40 miles from London and is not far away from the village of Cherford. You can get there by car, or if you come to the village by bus, take the No. 7 bus from Cherford Station. In summer, the museum is open every day from nine in the morning to six in the afternoon. In winter, it closes one hour earlier. A ticket for adults is £8, and for students it's half price. For families there's a special ticket which costs £15. This year we have a special offer for visitors. You can go up in a small plane and see from the sky. You can only do this on Sundays and you should book this trip online two weeks before you come.
