教学重点： 1. Find the transitional/topic sentence of each target paragraph to summarize the author’s arguments for space exploration; 2. Feel the features of the argumentative essay; 3. Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of space exploration critically. 4. Strengthen the interest and understanding related to space exploration. 教学难点： 1. Grasp the features of an argumentative essay; 2. Strengthen the interest and understanding related to space exploration.
教学过程
Step 1 Lead-in Have Ss enjoy a short video clip and try to answer the questions below:: 1. What is the video about 2. How many breakthroughs have been mentioned there 【设计意图：通过对2021年太空探索的回顾，导入本堂课的学习主题，为下一环节做铺垫。】 Step 2 Fast reading Organize Ss to skim the essay paragraph by paragraph quickly and find out the transitional/topic sentence for each paragraph so as to get the structure of this essay. 【设计意图：通过略读的阅读策略引导学生总结出人类探索太空的理由和议论文的结构。】 Step 3 Careful reading Encourage Ss to read the essay carefully and finish the tasks below: Task 1 Read Para 1 to know: Why does the author tell a true story at the beginning of paragraph 1 What are the disadvantages brought by space exploration Task 2 Read Para 2 to know: How does the author` prove "It is in our nature to explore" in paragraph 2 Why does the author apply such ways to prove it Task 3 Read Para 3 to know: What facts have been confirmed and what questions remain to be answered Task 4 Read Para 4 to know: What writing techniques does the writer use to prove his argument？ How many examples are there And what are they Task 5 Read Para 5 to know: What great economic value can space industry bring And how？ Task 6 Read Para 6 to know: What’s the main reason for humans to explore space according to the author How can the space exploration benefit the young Task 7 Read the sentence below to know what sentence pattern is used.
