Generally, Chinese scripts(字体)have five categories(种类): The seal character (Zhuang), the official script (Li), the regular script (Kai), the running hand (Xing) and the cursive hand (Cao).
To produce Chinese characters, one will need a brush, a paper, ink and ink stone. They are called the “Four Treasures of the Study”. To learn calligraphy, it is necessary to learn about these tools.
White-goat-hair, black-rabbit-hair and yellow-weasel-hair brushes are the main ones. Brush handles are usually made of bamboo.
