A: How has the Internet developed over the years
B: It was invented in 1969 and the first website was built in 1990. Within 24 years, the number of websites had risen to more than 1 billion!
A: Incredible! I know there have been great changes in the way it’s being used. Its popularity among people of all ages has grown dramatically in the past five years.

B: Exactly. Now around 21% of users are aged 40 or over, while five years ago, that percentage was just 17%. Users under 20 have also increased.

My team made a survey about how the students use the Internet last week.
According to the survey, nearly one third of the netizens are students, who surf the Internet for various reasons. The students surfing the Internet at home are in the majority. In other words, about 80% of the students surf the Internet at home and only about 12% of the students in their friends’ and relative’s houses, or in Internet bars.

Most of them use the Internet to play games, chat with their friends, download some music, buy their favorite goods, and so on. It is obvious that the majority of the students give up the Internet because of their homework.
