1.People often remember what they were doing when they heard the news of important events in history. In America, for example, many people remember what they were doing on April 4,1968. This was an important event in American history. On this day, Dr. Martin Luther King was killed. Although some people may not remember who killed him, they remember what they were doing when they heard the news.

教材分析
本课主要阅读有关回忆美国历史上两大突发事件发生时人们的反应的文章,学习使用过去进行时态讲述过去发生的事情。阅读文章以重大的突发事件为背景,通过人们的回忆讲述过去正在发生的事。2a让学生通过看插图和标题预测文章的内容,这既是一个阅读前的预热活动,也同2b的阅读任务相联系,同时也是本单元阅读策略的一项重要内容。2c要求学生对文章的具体信息进行判断。2d是较为深入的阅读理解,涉及到句子形式的变化与语义关系的对应。2e是就文章细节的互相提问与检测。
学情分析
学生现处于八年级下学期,已经具有一定的语言运用能力,但是不同学生的能力参差不齐,因此教学中应多采用小组合作的学习方式,让学生互帮互助,在相互推动中体验学习英语的乐趣,同时在小组活动中,培养积极的学习态度和情感。此外,此次选择的课题是Unit5中B部分的阅读材料,学生之前接触过过去进行式,却没有系统地学习过。因此,学生在语法和词汇方面会感到有一定的难度,所以课堂设计将避开语法的过多讲解,而以训练学生阅读和获取信息的能力为主。
